I stayed at the Renaissance Hotel for Blerdcon in 2025 and such an incredible experience that I booked for 2026 and will be booking for 2027 as soon as possible.
The terrace being closed and the lack of a microwave are my 2 biggest complaints.
My recent stay at the Renaissance Arlington Capital View Hotel was scheduled for 13 nights for work. I have stayed at this property many times previously without issue. However, during this stay, I encountered a situation that I find both concerning and unacceptable.
After eight nights, I noticed an unfamiliar charge of $41.01 posted to my account. When I contacted the hotel, I was informed that the charge originated from the restaurant. I explained that I had not dined at the restaurant and that the charge was clearly an error.
I spoke with the front desk and requested to speak with the restaurant manager. The restaurant manager acknowledged that a mistake had been made and indicated that I would be refunded. While I appreciate the correction, my concern extends far beyond the refund itself.
I then requested to speak with a hotel manager and was connected with Assistant Rooms Operations Manager, Sean Sidebotham. I asked both him and the restaurant manager how a room charge could be applied without verifying the guest’s name.
When I specifically asked whether my name appeared on the restaurant bill, I was told that it did not. This is extremely troubling, as it suggests that an individual who is not a registered guest could potentially charge a meal to any room number without proper verification procedures in place.
When I expressed that stronger safeguards should be implemented to prevent this from happening in the future, Mr. Sidebotham appeared dismissive of my concerns. His body language—folded arms and lack of engagement—gave the impression that my concerns were not being taken seriously.
As a Marriott Ambassador Elite member, I expect a higher standard of service, accountability, and professionalism—particularly when I am the one bringing a fraudulent charge to the hotel’s attention.
Due to the manner in which this situation was handled, I contacted the Marriott Ambassador hotline and requested to end my stay on day eight and be relocated to another hotel. I am deeply disappointed in how this matter was addressed and, as a result, will no longer be giving my business to this property.
I sincerely hope this feedback is taken seriously and that appropriate measures are implemented to ensure proper verification procedures and improved guest service moving forward.

Room was a little chilly and the lighting was not ideal. Little room updates needed
It was close to the airport. Location was amazing. The restaurant and bar were amazing as well.
The shuttle started at 5. Would of liked an earlier start time like 3:30.
I was caught in the storm near National airport and needed somewhere to stay the night, having a dawn flight the following morning. The restaurant was absolutely fine and I was able to get some rest (in pleasant surroundings) before my rebooked flight. The airport shuttle bus got me to the airport on time.
Can't think of anything.
Me gustó mucho la ubicación cercana al aeropuerto, el desayuno y el traslado al aeropuerto.
---- todo bien...
Clean and friendly staff
Doors are loud
Very helpful staff despite a very busy Marine Corps Marathon. Checked in around 10p and the parking garage was packed but the valet was nice enough to help find us a spot on the side.
At check in Taha was very informative and made sure we had what we needed and offered bottles of water. The lounge is closed on weekends so they offered complimentary buffet breakfast in the restaurant.
On marathon morning they provided a hotel shuttle for runners to get dropped off and onto the bus for the start line. It was 0.4 miles but appreciated with the cold. In the evening I used their free airport shuttle to DCA. Very nice property and staff is very nice.
Room was CLEAN! I am very picky about hotel cleanliness and even the bathroom was clean.
The airport shuttle was perfect!
