arrived really early in the morning (1:20 AM) before check in time and staff was very helpful and friendly in helping us. gave us an available room where we can rest and moved us the next day to a much bigger room for my family as a soon as the room was available
Excellent looking cation great food and shopping just a few blocks away
It was amazing, close to shopping, and great food was just a quick walk away.
Bathroom was very smelly. Rooms does not look like picture. Water supply was cut off one morning. Breakfast was served very slow (they had a ala carte selection). The only good thing was staff had good attitude.
The room was not what was shown on the intro ad.It was disappointing.
nothing like the Expedia photos...………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………...
A well located hotel within reach of the train station, with friendly hotel staff and a good introduction to the hotel upon arrival by Linda.
Sadly don't be misled by the nice website photos though. The dimly tube-lit bathroom was the worst we've experienced this trip with mouldy tiles and a dated suite that's turned yellow over many years, blocked sink and bath drains, and ants crawling throughout!
There was no duvet cover in the room and the electric kettle was unfit as well as unsafe for purpose.
We were misold a hugely overpriced delux bus journey when we'd asked for a basic one and had a stressful time trying to recover our advanced payment.
Location was excellent in old quarter. There was plenty to eat at breakfast-all kinds of food. Staff were very helpful in printing train tickets for me and they stored our luggage two days before we stayed there while we went on a cruise in Halong Bay.
Staff was very friendly. They went above and beyond by packing me breakfast to go for an early morning flight.
I think if I had to stay over in Hanoi I would choose a more modern hotel. I needed to launder my clothes but it did cost twice what every other hotel I stayed at charged.
Liked the friendly staff and they speak English! The room was quite nice except the nice big window has a view of a wall. Book a balcony room if you want a view I guess? It doesn't really matter to me as I prefer to go out anyway. Bathroom isn't visually stunning but it's nothing to worry about; everything works as it should.
All in all it was a pleasant stay. The staff takes care of you if there's any issues.
We had a very nice time. We especially appreciated the personal service from Stephan Nguen. Not sure of the spelling.
I really wanted to like this hotel but was highly disappointed. We had a window view of the hallway, no biggie. The bathroom floor was wet, so I laid some dry towels down, no biggie. However, we were told that we had to buy our own hand soap when we found none in the room. On the second day we had no running water and had to call downstairs. The staff members were pleasant, but for the same price or less, you can find a MUCH better hotel with basic amenities.
The location is great for exploring the city... lots of shops, restaurants and activities within walking distance. The staff and service was fantastic. I can't say enough about the hotel manager. His hospitality went way above what you might expect. Even assisting me with a visit across the street to replace my lost glasses. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.
It's a nice hotel and staffs are nice except the room it was dirty
we booked in for 5 nights and we were impressed with the foyer. unfortunately, we weren't so impressed with our room. the room we were staying in was in need of updating as it was looking fairly tired. unfortunately the view from our room was a wall! I think the hotel is in the process of a makeover as the hallways were being painted during our stay.
however, we enjoyed our time at the Hanoi City Palace hotel, especially with the help of the staff. They were really helpful and couldn't do enough for us. we booked a trip out to Halong Bay through them which I would definitely recommend. they also offer airport pick up/drop off which was useful.
the breakfast was decent too. the noodle soup being a favourite of mine. Same as a lot of other places in Asia, they didn't do too well with western breakfasts!
the location was good too as the hotel is only about 10-15 minutes from the lake. In the main, we walked everywhere and we found our way to the majority of the sites fairly easily. The hotel does provide a map with the main tourist attractions on it which was very helpful.
All in all, we enjoyed our time at the Hanoi City Palace Hotel and would recommend staying here (perhaps ask for a room with a better view!)
Nice staff but poor quality of the rooms.
I and my wife have one night in this hotel. The generic feeling is satisfactory.
The hotel staff were really friendly and very efficient. Nothing was too much trouble. We had read reviews about the rooms having no windows . This was true but the room was clean and comfortable . Bathroom was clean with a good shower. Some of the decor good do with a touch up but it was fine for us. Breakfast was very good but kitchen staff often forgot what we had ordered despite writing it down and had to be asked again. Hotel was in the old quarter and in a great location. Lots to see and places to eat and shop. Reception was always manned and they were very pleasant and polite.
The hotel was in those quarter and a perfect location for local sights, places to eat and shops. Reception Staff were very friendly and keen to please. They were very professional. The kitchen staff didn't seem to have the same level of professionalism. The food was good but they kept forgetting what we had asked for and we had to keep prompting them. They seemed quite young and were not very focussed. The room was nice and it was quiet. There are very few windows in the hotel however if you want views as it is between two other buildings so windows will only be in front bedrooms. We were concerned after booking that recent reviews were very derogatory but when we arrived it was much better than we thought and we had a good stay. We loved the area especially the lake where at 6.30 am you can walk around and see all the exercise classes taking place and even join in. Pool were lovely.
Check in was a disaster. Arranged transfers did not arrive and the the front desk wanted to retain our passports. No information at check in about breakfast or amenities. Cold water in bathroom for 3 days because it's not obvious the water heater is in the bathroom (it looks like a light switch). Attempted to charge us on checkout for services not used. Many breakfast items were not available when ordered despite being on the menu.
Positives: staff are polite and helpful, room is cleaned daily, location is good.
