The Oaks Tamarindo Condominiums

The Hotel is rather isolated. A car is necessary to get anywhere. The staff needs training in hospitality.

Liked the propert landscaping. Didn't like that the condo we stayed in was infested with large ants
Told the guard at the gate about the ants and the condo was sprayed. Many ants died but when we left the infestation was worse than ever. Didn't like that there was no communication with management and the office was always closed.

Comfortable, clean, quiet and has a relaxing pool. Perfect to recuperate after being in sun and doing lots of activities during day.

Great on site management!!! And I mean great!! They were so helpful with all of our asks. Property was perfect for what we needed. Pools were fabulous. A little far from town if you don’t have a car. We used Uber and helped with that issue.

This was our second visit to The Oaks and we love it. With 2 younger kids, the two bedroom condo provides us with the bedding and space to be comfortable. The staff is very friendly, the units are well equipped, and the grounds are quiet and safe. We will visit again.

The condo was great except the air conditioners in bed rooms didn't work very well The location was a little farther from the city center then expected

Great staff and really clean. There was no water pressure in the shower! So bad that we skipped showers ( wouldn’t be able to wash the shampoo off my hair).
Ants are everywhere! Walking on the walls and everywhere else.
Not walking distance to anything, you definitely need a car. 15 min drive to get to real nice beach town.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Oaks. Robert was wonderful and had maps available to us highlighting the area beaches, restaurants, and markets. It made traveling around the area very easy. The property was well maintained and the staff was very friendly. The room was spacious, clean, and had all the conveniences that made it feel like our home away from home.

Great location and perfect for a family trip

The condos are spacious and offer all the amenities, albeit sometimes slightly damaged. The pools are small and very cold, but are usually not too crowded. The staff are very nice and friendly, but don't get involved in booking tours or anything. They will give you recommendations, but then you are on your own. There was also no phone in our condo, so make sure you have an international phone plan. The beaches are about a 10-15 minute drive away as is Tamarindo center. It is in a quiet, safe location.

I feel that Expedia is misrepresenting this condo as a hotel. The wording needs to be more specific as I feel it is misleading. When you stay at a hotel you expect to have housekeeping and as this is a CONDO, you do not have housekeeping. It can be arranged but at a an additional cost. Had I known that this was a condo I would have probably stayed elsewhere as I was going away for the weekend, to relax not to work.

This was our first time in Costa Rica. We are so glad we chose The Oaks to stay in for 10 days. The grounds are beautifully kept and our condo was perfect. We also had a full kitchen, grill, dishwasher, and a full laundry room with washer and dryer. We saved a lot by eating at the condo and we frequented the full grocery store in Tamarindo, about 5 minutes away. The store also had an ATM machine that we used with a choice of American dollars or Costa Rican collones.
The location was perfect with many beaches within easy driving distance. Our favorite was Playa Conchal which was a little calmer than others. Playa Tamarindo is better for surfers and brave boogie boarders.
Would I stay here again? YES!

The Oaks Tamarindo is a wonderful place to anchor your stay in Costa Rica. The units are beautifully done, with all the amenities you might expect from a upscale property in the US. Three pools, a very helpful staff, and plenty of monkeys right outside your door for daily wake-up calls. Clean, safe, gorgeous, and centrally located for daily excursions. Excellent!
