The hotel is in a good location for the town and the Darlington railway station, which is a 15 minute direct walk away. My room was very large and the bed comfortable. There was plenty of hot water and the shower pressure was excellent.
The staff were very friendly and courteous and the food and drinks reasonably priced for a hotel.
Nothing really other than maybe the bathroom needs a bit of updating, but it didn't spoil my stay.

The location was great
The bed was really uncomfortable. The extractor fan was broken in the bathroom, so black mold was on the walls. The old sash windows were beautiful, but let the cold in. Not enough hot selection at breakfast, despite guests having to give notice on the time they will arrive at breakfast. Not enough parking spaces on peak times.

Evening Dinner was good
The check in & Check outreception was frosty and lacked directions to facilities!
Again the choice of food at Breakfast no Black Pudding or Fried Bread, available food was being topped up but still not hot food. ordering of extras Poached eggs took a while.
Both the Dining Room & Bar area were cold, when mentioned in Dining Room some heat applied!
Bar are small and slow bar staff attempting to serve both the Ballroom & Dining area
We like to stay at this hotel when visiting family as the location is convenient and the staff are all very professional and friendly, the rooms are comfortable and clean. The breakfast is lovely and we find the bar is a really nice place to sit in an evening after a busy day.
