Amazing stay at The Alma… I don’t know where to begin, gorgeous room, perfect for me and the pooch. Great food, both in restaurant and in room dining. Lovely amenities for my little dog. With a lovely welcome gift and treat for me too! Amazing staff! Can’t wait to book my next stay!

The room was great, the service from hotel staff excellent, the price too.
The pub bit was a huge disappointment. They first tried to fob me off with a pint of best bitter that was cloudier than the cloudiest cloudy IPA, and tasted like s$~r p¥#s (I have had to use my imagination there). They then announced that all cask ales were off. The bar staff were unapologetic.
Trouble is, we chose to stay at The Alma owing to memories of many happy nights (and some days too) drinking there when it was one of the finest Youngs pubs, and over that maybe 20 years I don’t recall ever having a bad pint. I know times have changed, but disappointment that taints such a treasured memory will always sting, hence the mark down.
No complaints whatsoever about the hotel side though.
Private and spacious
Breakfast never started on time
Location close to station and amenities.
Comfortable bed, clean stylish room.
The bed quilt was far to heavy and the room was to hot.
A really good pub, lovely staff, good food, good atmosphere and comfy bed
Food, atmosphere, nice room with good facilities
All good, very homely really like it
Close to location
Clean and presentable
Great staff, flexible allowing us to check in early 👏
Great team, good ambiance and genuine caring about clients
Lovely decor. Great village feel location. Right across the road from the train station
The lighting (downward spotlights) is tricky for anyone wanting to apply make up.
There was a little private communal patio for three rooms where a formidable dog performed a comprehensive biological evacuation. We had to inform the guest and ask him to clean up.
