Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff.
Not much, to be honest. Food was average at best. The accommodation was extremely dilapidated. We didn’t feel welcomed. Catering is, at its basic requirement, about looking after customers. This place doesn’t even begin to match this aspiration.
No heating in room. No hot water, other than electric shower.
Evening meals were very poor quality. No choices available. We were made to eat in the Bar, in spite of protests. Everything to suit the owner!
No clothes drying facilities - in spite of location in one of the wettest parts of Scotland.
We were discouraged on 3 occasions from taking breakfast in the hotel. Clearly, the owners preferred not to get up early.
The accommodation was dilapidated - well past its prime, and not as shown on the particulars of the hotel. Noisy plumbing, no hot water, lights not working, and inadequate socket provision. I wasn’t able to shave!
We didn’t feel valued and were made to feel very uncomfortable. We arrived and nobody offered to help us with our luggage - a basic courtesy. We left after 2 days of our week’s stay, losing a huge amount of money, but so glad to escape this unpleasant environment. Summer holidays are precious and hard earned in these hard times. This hotel is not as presented in the glowing customer reviews, making me extremely suspicious of their true source. Please look into this, to prevent others being duped as we were.
The friendliness and helpfulness was great, they couldn't be more accommodating. Made us food outwith times, gave us a fan when it was so hot in the rooms. The towels were great. They recommended other places to visit. Recommended and booked the boathouse in Gigha for us, we'd definitely go back.
Good food, nice location.
Lack of functionality, rather untidy reception area.
The photos of the the place need to be updated, had I seen more recent photos I would NEVER had stayed there.
Booking .com needs to keep up to-date with what they advertise. Its very tired and run down.
Location staff and the value
Very good food. Location one my favourites.
Lovely location in remote Kintyre. Rhona was very friendly and accommodating, whether it be for breakfast, dinner, or general helpfulness and making us feel at home. Always a warm fire waiting in the evenings when it was cold and wet outside. Recently decorated rooms comfortable rooms.
Location, warm welcome, room and knowledgeable staff
Friendly staff, comfortable and clean rooms.
Long road to get to it, big property with parts not used.
Good service
The Hotel is in an excellent location and should be a wonderful experience to stay there. Bedrooms are large and quite well equipped. The Bar and eating area is reasonable.
The hotel is quite run down and the photos are obviously taken from a few years ago. The Bath / Shower lacks grab handles and a bath mat making it a danger to any elderly or infirm person. Lighting in the bedroom is insufficient for reading. We asked for clean towels after three days and were only given two instead of four, one bath towel being still very damp. There was a problem with the water supply but nothing was done to alleviate this such as lighting the fire downstairs to warm that area. The team running it seemed to be quite overwhelmed even though there were very few guests.
Updated photos on booking.com.
