Friendly place with a great location. Carrying your luggage upstairs is a challenge.
Pros:

Lovely Bay Window to the street. Friendly staff and great breakfast.

Cons:

Having to use stairs to get your room is difficult with cases. The type of staircase (being circular) made it harder.

Très bon séjour en famille
Pros:

Un très bon accueil, jovial et chaleureux. La vue sur Arthur's Seat pour les chambres de devant et le calme absolu des chambres donnant sur le jardin (les petits oiseaux au réveil sans aucun autre bruit : parfait pour se reposer). Quartier très calme sans quasiment aucune circulation. Un excellent petit déjeuner. Arthur's Seat est à 1h30 aller-retour pour des marcheurs occasionnels (légère difficulté sur la fin). Lignes de bus à 5min à pieds.

Cons:

On ne peut pas tout avoir, le calme du quartier et des pubs à proximité, pour ceux-ci, il faudra aller "en ville".

Tolles Hotel mit einer ruhigen Lage. Mit dem Bus kurzer Weg ins Zentrum, zu Fuß auch machbar.
Pros:

Das Hotel liegt ganz in der Nähe des Arthurs Seat - man kann also von dort gleich den Hausberg der Stadt erklimmen. Der Weg zur High Street ist etwa 30 Minuten zu Fuß. Das kann man schaffen, dafür kann man einigermaßen gut in der Gegend parken (Warum einigermaßen? Mittags muss das Auto weg aber bis 9:30 Uhr und ab 11 Uhr ist es ok); sehr nette und aufmerksame Gastgeber, die Zimmer sind gut ausgestattet - also noch alte Schule. Leider konnten wir unser Frühstück wegen einer frühen Abreise nicht genießen, wir haben aber eine Lunchbox bekommen.

Cons:

Da gab es nichts. Es war alles sehr gut.

A tourist haven in a big city
Pros:

Number one, Kevin and Susan. They are exceptional in the art of making their guests feel welcomed. Kevin was so helpful with travel tips and his wittiness kept us laughing and joyful. Susan offered immediate help with any requests like taxi bookings or direction clarification. Kelly, who covered the front desk some evenings was so helpful in orienting us upon arrival.

The breakfasts were exceptional, offering both a continental buffet and a choice of hot options including full Scottish breakfast which had us really enjoying the haggis which we may not have tried otherwise.

We also liked the location. We marveled about how quiet it was and thought it was much more peaceful than being in the city center. The bus stop was close by, and it takes only minutes to be on the Royal Mile.

Our room was great. We had the family room up two flights of stairs. The beautiful window looked out on Holyrood Park and the crags. We kept the drapes open at night so we could gaze out at the stars, and we wouldn't have been surprised if Peter Pan or Tinkerbell had flown in. The sunrises were spectacular!

The heated towel racks were appreciated. The shower mechanism was easy to understand and the water pressure was terrific.

Cons:

There was a creaking floor as we entered the bathroom. We tried to step around it, but often forgot. We worried about whoever might be in a room below us.

We couldn't figure out how to light the lamp by the bed closest to the window, and kept forgetting to ask about it.

Top Familiengeführtes originelles Hotel am Arthur‘s Seat
Pros:

Dieses Hotel besticht durch das familiäre Umfeld und einen persönlichen Bezug von Ankunft über das Frühstück bis hin zur Abreise. Insbesondere der brillante Humor des Eigentümers beim Frühstück spendiert gute Laune für den ganzen Tag.
Die relative Fussläufigkeit ins Zentrum hat uns besonders gefallen und bei Müdigkeit ist der Bus in wenigen Minuten aus der Stadt wieder zurück 😉
