The hotel has seen better days, the stairs to all the bedrooms were never hoovered during our four night stay. Housekeeping gave us fresh towels, tea and milk but did not empty the two bins or make the bed.

It was a lovely, affordable break, in a great location.
Pros:

It was very cosy and comfortable, located very centrally in Melrose. The breakfast was wonderful, especially the black pudding and haggis!

Cons:

The only draw back was the lack of sockets. We had two CPAP machines and had to have leads stretched right across the room.

Good location in Melrose and convenient for restaurants in town.
Staff were friendly.

Cons:

.It's an old hotel and very much needing some TLC. There's a reason it's only a 2 star hotel. OK for one night, but wouldn't like to stay longer.
