George and Abbotsford Hotel

Large hotel in need of some upgrading. Friendly staff but ultimately the surroundings were poor & rundown

Basic hotel, decor dated but very clean.

Staff outstanding as always Made our stay lovely. Special shout out to Carly and Cheryl lovely kind caring Staff. Made our stay speacial as always , Charlie Old English Sheepdog and our two Westies Bonnie and Teddy loved zll thd attention

Great basic Hotel, good for a short stopover. Staff were excellent. Bar & food really good.

Excellent location and wonderful staff!!! Kailee, Graham, and Cheryl were just a few names of hotel staff that were absolutely above and beyond helpful and friendly! Everyone i encountered was so kind during my week long stay.
I loved the food in the hotel restaurant, especially the custard! LoL I ordered extra every chance I could! I didn't try Haggis, lol, but the steak, fish, macaroni, and BLT dishes I did try. All were delicious!
The hotel room was roomy for a single. Very comfy bed. No microwave or fridge though. Smallish shower, but worked great.
My only pain point was structural and based on my limited mobility, I wish there was an elevator. Also I didn't realize when booking first floor meant still had to go upstairs. Many stairs to and from rooms and out of hotel or to dining room. But if no mobility issues, you will not have a problem.
Beautiful hotel! And bus stop is just down a few buildings, very close. Buses super nice and quick. Very inexpensive to get to nearby attractions or just enjoy countryside! Lovely, diverse shops and museums walking nearby! Just loved this stay!

I liked everything. The staff were kind and helpful. I would recommend the hotel to everyone.

Clean and functional

The service, food and the bar were excellent with friendly staff. I had a small.single room overlooking the high street and you could hear what was going on in the street but it didn't stop me sleeping

I didn't like the fact that a storm had taken out the tv aerial so no tv available, suggest getting tv via the website as not affected, boring evening in my room on my phone watching tv on my phone

I thought I had booked breakfast but was told that I hadn’t- possibly that was my error !

The hotel has seen better days, the stairs to all the bedrooms were never hoovered during our four night stay. Housekeeping gave us fresh towels, tea and milk but did not empty the two bins or make the bed. The windows were not clean. We tried to get a drink at the bar but there was no staff to be seen, no-one at reception either so we just went to another hotel for a drink.

The property is dated but the staff were lovely and the bedding was pure white cotton and new white fluffy towels . It was very clean and all we needed for one or two nights when we were out all day

The hotel was lovely and clean and staff very freindy.

We had a very warm informative welcome. The room was at the back which helped it be quieter when the private parties could be loud when they were on in the function room. It looks as if some updating is happening and needs new window frames and closers. The bed was comfy. Hospitality tray was great. In the bar the staff were great. You were served quickly and they kept the bar tidy. They were very friendly. We had bar sharing plate snack which was amazing. We didn’t have breakfast as not breakfast eaters so can’t comment about that.
We loved our stay and everything about the hotel.

My only criticism would be the need for heavier curtains in the room, as they are very thin so the room is extremely bright in the morning.

Great staff and lovely food. A good bedroom and bathroom.
