Great location for Chichen Itza in order to arrive there as soon as it opens. You need to drive or take a taxi as there is no private entrance- even though this is suggested. The grounds are beautiful, the food in the restaurant is good. The gift shop is lovely, the pool was nicer than expected.
The rooms are really basic and in need of renovation. Lunch/dinner is expensive, tipping is requested- I prefer to do this myself rather than be specifically asked for cash by the waiter.... Take insect repellent!!
Il giardino lussureggiante
Le cadre, magnifique et relaxant.
Rien
We stayed for one night in order to visit Chichen Itza at 8am before the crowds. The hotel is based around a lovely historic building but the rooms, which are scattered around the grounds are really disappointing. They are very basic, worn and in desperate need of renovation. The grounds are beautiful and the pool is big and very nice. Be aware of the mozzies and other little bugs that bite all day long- we were eaten alive at the pool and my usual trusty spray from the UK was not working at all......
We ate lunch, an evening meal, and breakfast at the hotel. The food is nice, but very expensive. They clearly have a captive audience and take advantage of that. They make a big point of you not being allowed any outside food or drinks - then perhaps make your prices a bit more reasonable....
There is no direct access to the archeological site- you need to arrange transport to the entrance.
Wie eine Oase, wunderschöner Garten, sehr gutes Essen und sehr guter Service!
The manager was excellent and went above and beyond in helping us with our car problems. The property is beautiful. Food excellent. WiFi was terrible but it helped us unplug!
WiFi service was the only negative
The setting is genuinely remarkable — colonial architecture wrapped in dense jungle gardens, with a beautiful pool and staff attentive enough to pull you aside and show you a nesting owl. That kind of place-specific magic is hard to manufacture.
But the experience has real rough edges. The rooms feel dated relative to the price point, and the walls are thin enough that you'll know your neighbors intimately.
More frustrating: several sources still describe direct access to the Chichen Itza archaeological zone, which no longer exists — worth knowing before you book. Small operational failures compounded this: taxis requested but not followed through on, and notices about outside food and drink posted with a tone that doesn't match a property at this price tier. The restaurant leans expensive, particularly for wine, which matters more here than it would in town given how far you are from alternatives.
Thin walls, but rooms are spotlessly clean if a bit dated.
The birdwatching program looks excellent, but was booked for the time that worked for us. Book early or confirm availability on arrival.
If the grounds and atmosphere are your priority, you'll find them here. Come with adjusted expectations on the rest.
The property is located in the most glorious location, minutes away from Chichen Itza.
The grounds and tropical gardens are second to none, with wonderful areas to explore within the estate.
Everyone was polite and helpful but the person that made our stay truly special was Adrien, the manager. He took us around, spoke to us about the history of the property and gave us a very special tour of the Hacienda premises.
Adrien also recommended a great private tour guide for Chichen Itza.
The set up of two rooms per porch with a shared terrace and one hammock made it feel slightly less private, especially as there is so much space around to take advantage of.
The windows could also benefit from black out blinds as the sun would wake us up very early in the morning.
Absolutely stunning elegant ancient hacienda with exquisite grounds. We loved it!
Nothing
Totally unique and exceptionally beautiful. A truly historic location.
The room was comfortable. It would be better if the party wall to the bathroom were closed off at the top..
Of course there is the option to stay in Valladolid and then visit Chichen Itza from there. Having said that i would personally not opt for that but stay here. Very close (5 min. taxi ride) from Chichen and a fantastic garden full of birds to enjoy. The pool is huge but do make sure that you bring insect repellent. The rooms are cozy and all you have to do is find inner peace.....
Pool , gardens location
Le lieux splendide rempli d' histoire. Piscine incroyable, jardins incroyable. Très proche du Chichen itza. Personnel très très souriant et soins inoubliables.
Our stay at Hacienda Chichen was such a wonderful experience. The location is beautiful and so peaceful, the room was quiet, comfortable and clean. It had a relaxed atmosphere and the staff were so friendly, polite and trained to a high standard which made us feel truly spoilt. I had a massage from Mirabelle which was wonderful. The pool area is beautiful and the food was also exceptional - I can't recommend this hotel enough.
The gardens, fountains and pool are wonderful. The accomodation is squeaky clean and staff very professional and helpful. We had an excellent 5 star meal at the restaurant and breakfast was delicious.
