As always, the view is spectacular! The grounds are lovely! The restaurant is convenient and delicious! The staff is helpful.
I've stayed at Palma Real before and left a great review. This time I rented 2 rooms as I had short-term guests. (Please see other review as well.) Fortunately I put them in the room with the bathtub even though I moved over to it when they left. The room I first stayed in, #127, was not up to par. Let me clarify, it was NOT a housekeeping issue. It was clean, but the paint was peeling, the light was broken and there was this horrible smell. It hit you in the face when you opened the door. Same if you were on the balcony and then came back in. I don't know if it was mold in the walls or one of the creatures died in the attic, but it was bad. Also, right off the balcony was the tejon "freeway." There was poop over it. Not the best to look at.
The view cannot be beat! There's nowhere else you can see both the beach and the lagoon. Love the restaurant! The food is delicious and the service is great! You get housekeeping twice a week.
I had rented 2 rooms, one for just a few days and this one for longer. I put my short term guests in this one and then planned to move over. They tried to get me to stay the long term in the other room which, unfortunately, wasn't up to standard. (See separate review.) Fortunately, I had gone through Booking and I just kept reminding them of this. Once I moved over into this room, things were wonderful!
Restaurant very good.
AC into the room.
The view was beautiful.
No supplies. No soap, paper towels, tissue. NO BOTTLED WATER (essential in Mexico). A TV was in the room but No signals.
DEAD COCKROACHES IN ROOM. Large toilet paper dispenser next to toilet prevented sitting properly. Overall, very dated and poorly maintained. Second day told manager about roaches and TV. Roaches were cleaned up.
Talking about the room, we loved its location, the comfort of it, the view. The airconditioning service was good too. The fridge was good and clean to keep our food.
Regarding Palma Real in general, the renewed swimming pool was awesome! Sparkling water, perfect temperature, excellent.
Restaurant: Delicious food. Saúl and Gaby are awesome!
Room: We wish the towels were a little bit newer. The room was missing one bulb by the sink. One of the sheets seemed to have some stains of blood or something. No hot water, and the sink in the bathroom was liking most of the time. Hope it can be repaired soon (water waste).
Bridge to La Boquita: It was better than last year, but still a little dangerous for someone who is over 50 y. o. The little road that lead us from Palma Real to La Boquita should be lighted. It is totally dark after 7 pm. Lots of poop everywhere in that road/path (pets or humans?).
Ocean view
Location & bad roads to commute through
I have stared at Palma Real from Playa La Boquita for over 20 years vowing that one day I'd go. So to meet that goal was a dream! The view is incredible! It is more of a condo complex than a hotel though. It's set up like a studio apartment, but the "kitchen" sink is in the bathroom, since that's where the water supply is. The shower was nice and large
The stairs! I was checking out the place as a potential retirement location as some of the individual units are for sale. Unless I got a bottom unit, the stairs would make it impractical for retirement. Also, not sure if my unit was hotel owned or privately owned and rented out? Some areas could have used some repairs
The place was nice and quiet. Near La Boquita is a plus.
Needs updates in bathroom including plumbing
When we arrived, there was no one at reception. We were told at the restaurant to come baxk in 15 minutes, the fellow at reception had left for personal reasons. Half hoir later we che ked in. In our room, the remote batteries for the tv were dead, the shower did not drain, the fawcets were near impossible to turn and the patio door frame was falling off. We mentioned this a to the receptionist when we left.
Hotel bonito y limpio, buena vista.
