Pros:

The quality of the food and drink was very good. The Garden style restaurant was pleasant and light. The main reception areas were atmospheric of days of old.

Cons:

If I had to be picky, the reception area was dark and the main stairs carpet had seen better days.

Coombe Abbey Hotel
Pros:

Location. The building looked amazing and the contents were in keeping for the period of the building , staff were attentive and were cheerful at all times considering 2 weddings and a banquet for 500 over the weekend they all had happy smiling faces and nothing was a problem so credit to them. Food was enjoyable both A la carte and breakfast.

Cons:

Bathroom light did not work over the mirror and dressing table poor bearing in mind we were attending a black collar tie event.

Wonderful Coombe Abbey
Pros:

Everything it was fabulous, felt very 'special' staying here was a treat.

Cons:

There was nothing I could say, glass of sangria on terrace, fab, evening meal, fab. Breakfast is self service but still excellent with food replenished regularly and plenty of it.

Pros:

The most beautiful hotel set in the most beautiful grounds. The staff are absolutely amazing. The food is excellent.Had the fantastic Sunday lunch inspired afternoon tea which was divine. Had a room upgrade which was well worth the upgrade bid we placed. Would definitely revisit.

Cons:

There is nothing that I’d didn’t like about this hotel.

Too expensive
Pros:

Grounds
Exterior
Building

Cons:

Beds too small in double rooms
Expected to pay extra for a normal bed for a average size couple
Stains on the carpet all throughout the hotel.
Loose taps in bathroom.
Tired and old interior
Too expensive breakfast and if you don’t book at check in, 10 minutes later it’s three pounds more.
Customer have to pay parking extra

Disgraceful. Staff playing around with customers drinks. Unwelcoming
Pros:

This time nothing we was treated like dirt

Cons:

I booked to stay in the main hotel for the experience ect instead they charge me double for what it said on booking they didn’t give me my £70 deposit back for the room they made us pay on arrival everyone else was asked do the want it on there room or pay now. Me and my partner was made to pay for everything on the spot we was put in a corner for dinner while all the “upper class” was seated al on the other side with good views and to top it off we was put in the new building at the back ! Absolutely disgusting staff I seen the bar staff stick his fingers in a cocktail joking with another team member to do it again. Do not waste your money go to somewhere that welcomes you not treat you like dirt.

Very disappointed
Pros:

The history and the food

Cons:

The entire property needs a good refurb. Stained and damaged carpets everywhere. Chipped paint everywhere. Dark and dingy, the only smiles we got were from the lady on reception and the head waitress. The place seems to trade on its longstanding reputation but a lot of guests remarked how it had gone downhill since they were last there. A glass got broken at breakfast and no one guarded it while a waiter went for a dustpan which resulted in me walking through it and treating large pieces of glass everywhere. I won’t be returning until I know the place has been refurbished.

Pros:

Everything

Cons:

When I pre ordered a bottle of wine then to be told you had run out of the wine I wanted. I was then sold a more expensive one just to find out when we went into the bar you had plenty that was out of order, the bar and the restaurant bar are one of the same. I am aware this practice goes on in other establishments but I didn't expect it at Coome Abbey.
