The reviews didn’t meet the reality.
Pros:

Warm welcoming staff at reception and in the pub and the breakfast room.
Mattress was comfortable.

Cons:

Room 3 looked worn. Carpet frayed and small holes in the wall. Water stained ceiling. Looked long in the tooth.

Shower floor is very slippery. It needs a shower mat to avoid a fall.

Full of memories.
Pros:

We came because we had stayed in the Wansfell when we married 60 years ago. Name had changed but much the same! Staff were very friendly, we had a long chat with Stuart at breakfast as, being the only 'normal' guests we were last down for breakfast (not rushing off to work).

Pros:

Customer service was excellent and it was every staff that I dealt with me either by the phone or in person was very helpful.

Cons:

WiFi didn't work on my phone and the shower holder was loose.

Pleasant stay after problems were resolve, would have liked on site staff.
Pros:

Breakfast was adequate and staff pleasant and helpful.

Cons:

We did not like the fact there was nobody there on arrival, only envelope with key in. Any queries were dealt with via staff at a pub several miles away, who after several calls for problems we had seemed irritated.

Fabulous stay
Pros:

The room had been recently decorated, lovely big bay window overlooking sea/beach.
All of the staff were lovely and very friendly.
Great breakfast, put on very early due to a cycling event, we have never stayed at a hotel that had done this before and we really appreciated it.
Beach/sea just over the road.
Plenty of parking available at the back of the hotel.

Great Stay in a lovely seaside village.
Pros:

The Hotel was on the seafront, with great views. The rooms were very clean and well-equipped.
The breakfast was a choice that the chef personally cooked for you and the food received was delicious. The staff we spoke to were all very friendly.

Pros:

Great hotel if cycling C2C, as they serve breakfast from 4am. Cycles allowed in rooms too. Very clean, although my bathroom was very small and fitted with a movement light, which meant it going dark whilst in the shower

Pros:

Stayed to do the c2c bike ride very accomadating . Bar was well stocked with a good choice and breakfast at 4 oclock which was very appreciated and served with a smile
