It was a nice stay, however slight mix up at the desk, but quickly resolved. Room was nice and tidy, only one complain was there was a cigarette dout next to the kettle, however it was all clean, that was the only disappointment about the experience, so all in all a very nice stay.

Served a purpose. Clean with a big room

Great location within in a few minutes walk of the train station and right next to Union Street. With that comes noise however. It recommend asking for a room facing away from the street. Had an awful nights sleep due to drunks fighting and traffic. Not the fault of the hotel however.

Room was clean but tired. Wall paper is torn and the carpet is stained, but I didn’t affect my stay. The bed was comfortable and clean and the bathroom was excellent.
Lovely modern and hot shower with towels and toiletries provided.

The only feedback that I can give that the hotel can change is the lighting situation. Having to have the huge ceiling light on at night is too much. Perhaps look at some ambient lighting / lamps. Also, not a single plug socket anywhere near the bed. I can’t understand why? The ones behind the beside tables are special round sockets and not useable. It would be so easy to change these! I use my phone as my alarm so need to charge it overnight.

I thought it a bit mean that I wasn’t allowed my room when I arrived at 2:30pm too, given that the key cards for arriving guests were already done behind the desk. I’d been travelling all day and it would have been a nice gesture. I had to wait outside for 30 mins.

All in all a pleasant stay and I’d be happy to stay here again without a problem and very reasonable on price too.

Staff were efficient and helpful. Good central location and competitive price. However, for a 4* hotel, it is very run down. Curtains in the room faling down, old decor, tired looking. All a bit stale. Breakfast was decent, but no hot plates to keep cooked breakfast warm, so expect it to be luke warm or cold.

Awesome service

I am writing to formally raise a complaint regarding the significant decline in the ROX hotel, I have stayed at the hotel in the past (pre covid) on numerous occasions and it was always my go to hotel. But unfortunately my stay on Friday, 29th August. I was extremely disappointed with the condition of the hotel, on arrival we were told the the bar was closed and room keys were un available, the overall cleanliness was unacceptable. The room also had a strong damp smell, and the landing had a strong smell of cannabis.

In addition, the shower in our room was broken, and the door locks were not functioning, meaning we did not have keys and had to rely on hotel reception staff to escort us every time we needed access. These issues caused significant inconvenience and raised serious safety and privacy concerns.

I would like to note that the manager was lovely and welcoming, and we appreciated their efforts during our stay.

Since our stay, I have experienced itching and discomfort, which I believe may be related to the room conditions. This experience was far below the standard I expected, especially given the hotel’s previous reputation and 4 star rating

I did not raise the issues during my stay as I was unwell, but I feel it is important to formally bring them to your attention. I request a response regarding how the hotel intends to address these problems and any compensation or remedial action you consider appropriate.

Entrance and reception were very pleasant although an issue with room key meant a trip back to reception. I had paid or breakfast and disappointed with the offer. Not worth the additional charge which was a rather poor continental selection. I’d wouldn’t have again but thought the room was good value.

Clean and lovely staff but a little run down in places. Windows dirty but it didn’t matter because the view wasn’t great. The 1st room we were offered we were told not to shut the toilet door or we would be locked in so we opted for another room. The staff were very friendly and so helpful so can’t fault that at all. Location is perfect for a city break.

Room is hotter than death. Aircon unit doesn't blow cold air and there is no opening window. Clearly an ongoing issue as there is a fan in the room. The room was clearly built and setup to a high standard but not maintained as the bathroom walls are chipped and gouged.

Good for the price, beautiful building but feels run down. Bed was too soft for me and the windows do not open so very stuffy even with the AC on.

This property is not great, everything was broken, it was not clean, but the staff and service were wonderful.

The entrance was uninspiring but once inside the two security doors the interior was fine. The bedroom was spacious, reasonably equipped with a large bathroom and good shower. Unfortunately two of the light shades were badly damaged and there was a hole in the bathroom wall where the toilet roll holder used to be. Only continental breakfast (okay) no real bar or restaurant available. The outside areas would have been nice if they had been weed free and clean. The photos on line bear no resemblance to reality - this is currently a tired three star hotel in a great location.

Fine for one night stay

The carpet in the room was stained and dirty. The television didn't work. The fixtures in the bathroom were loose, some broken. There was no way to get into the hotel except walking up 10 stairs with a very heavy suitcase. Actually, that's not true. To leave the hotel, I asked if there was a way out without the stairs. The kind receptionist took me out a staff-only door which was a filthy, smelly alley. Finally, I left a piece of sentimental jewelry in the room, notified Reception and asked for its return. The receptionist said Housekeeping had left (it was 2 pm) but she said she herself would follow up and call me back. I then emailed the hotel confirming my call and advising of the lost jewelry. Two days later, I've still not heard anything. Pretty sure my jewelry was taken. Do not stay here.

Staff was great, went above and beyond on an issue I brought up in passing. Very spacious room and comfy bed.

Great stay at the Rox Hotel, room was immaculate, WiFi brilliant and staff all very friendly, looking forward to staying there again.

Lovely Staff but the hotel is situated in a run down area. I need to get a hotel near the railway station and this fits the bill.

The staff’s friendliness and helpfulness will ensure I return.

Accessibility to city centre

The staff are superb! Nothing is too much trouble and they genuinely care that your stay meets your satisfaction. Be aware however that there are no restaurant or bar facilities and that a cooked breakfast is not available - continental only.
