We travelled as a couple to Pompeii and spent a week at the Hotel Maiuri during September 2025. We found the hotel to be much better than expected being situated slightly away from the city centre, but it was an easy walk of 15-20 minutes to the main central areas and the ruins.
All the hotel staff were very friendly, helpful and gave great service. We contacted the hotel some weeks before arrival to ask about transfers to and from Naples Airport and they provided prompt and efficient transport for both trips. I recommend this as it was a lot cheaper than those quoted on the UK travel sites. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis, and it must be highlighted that the breakfast options were varied and plentiful. Cereals, fruit, pastries and some freshly cooked items every morning, and great coffee which we appreciated. If requested you can ask reception for a kettle in your room, but we didn’t take up this option.
The room was fairly small, but very clean and excellently equipped which was perfect for us. Everything worked perfectly and it was cleaned to a very high standard every day. There is a lovely seating area in the front garden which we used to enjoy some drinks and company on some of our evenings. Their restaurant is not open in the evenings, but drinks from the bar are available upon request, and reasonably priced as well.
We found lots of good cafes and restaurants in the town centre for lunches and evening meals, Antica Cucina and Delorenzos Beef Bar were our favourites.
We visited the Pompeii Scava (ruins) twice (it is a huge area!), went up Mount Vesuvius, did the Herculaneum Scava, and took a coach trip around the Amalfi Coast. There are several tour operators to chose from, but we used what we thought was the ‘official’ vendors in the main pedestrian area, which all had blue and yellow frontages. Should you wish to visit the Herculaneum ruins from Pompeii, then we recommend using the train service at €4.80 per person for a return service. Use the station just behind the Il Santuario church on the main piazza. At Herculaneum Scava Station, walk straight down the hill to the site. Check your return train to make sure it is on the green route, if you take the blue route you will have to alight at Pompeii South Station. Both the Pompeii and Herculaneum sites cost €16 for an adult entry and there is no return if you want to nip out for a quick lunch etc.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Pompeii and a lot of the credit must go to the Hotel Maiuri and its fantastic staff!
The hotel has private parking which is quite good for those traveling in rental cars. The room is standard simple and clean. Bathroom is alright, the cubicle doors are a little fiddly but got perfect water pressure. The staff is amazing, friendly and tentative, provided suggestions for dining. We had a delicious seafood dinner at one of the restaurants they recommended nearby!
the staff was wonderful and very helpful!
Hotel Maiuri was a gem in Pompeii! beautiful clean rooms; nice professional staff and a lovely breakfast included. We were able to walk to it from the train station. We walked to a restaurant and had a lovely evening. The ruins were a bit of a hike but our group likes to walk. I would return to Hotel Maiuri without hesitation!
This hotel’s employees are extremely nice and very helpful. They really went out of their way to make our visit great. The hotel is extremely clean and the outside is nicely landscaped. They have convenient onsite parking, which is a big plus in this area.
Spotlessly clean and modern hotel a few hundred metres from bars and restaurants. Friendly staff. A great place to stay in Pompeii
Love it. I’ll stay again - family type
Had a lovely stay, excellent, staff very helpful.

Struttura ben organizzata, personale preparato, cordiale ed educato. Se dovessimo tornare a Pompei non avremmo dubbi nella scelta dell’hotel, sicuramente sceglieremmo lo stesso hotel
The hotel was excellent but in a remote area with limited dining in the area.
Excellent hotel. Friendly, helpful staff. Very nice garden area to eat/sit/drink wine. Strangely though, they will only supply one small toilet paper roll at a time, so we ran out of TP twice and had to go to front desk each time to urgently get more TP. Excellent breakfast included, nice balcony.
Nice property and helpful staff. Good with a car otherwise dining is not super close.
My wide and I stayed one night at Maiuri hotel on our way back from Sorrento to Naples. We wanted to see Pompeii and decided on this hotel. Very service minded staff that arranged for transfer, restaurant bookings etc. The room was very nice and had a great balcony. I can definitely recommend this to friends!
We had a great stay! The room was recently renovated and was spotless. The breakfast was amazing - coffee, pastries, and fresh fruits. The receptionist was very kind and even offered local tips to ensure we got the most out of our time there. I will stay here again when in the area!
Hotel Maiuri was a great base camp forOur extended city trip to Pomeii and Naples

The staff ( especially Amalia,Alessia and Andrea) was extremely friendly and helpful

Modern hotel, 20 minute walk from Pompeii historic site. Very clean and well kept by welcoming and helpful staff. Comfortable beds and good bathrooms. Breakfast room/ bar, no restaurant in hotel but one just across the road. Good breakfast choice. Pompeii railway station and town centre close by with 10 minute walk.
Struttura nuova, ben arredata, a 5 minuti da Santuario e 6 minuti dagli scavi. Parcheggio gratuito. Personale disponibile e cortese. Pulizia eccellente. Buona colazione.
