Basic but comfortable.
Pros:

Stayed in Hilltop Gardens while on a family holiday. We were not happy with our first room, too small for 3 people and we were accommodated in a bigger room the next day.
The rooms are basic but clean and an ideal base. Cleaning took place most days but had to specifically ask for fresh towels and I am not sure if bed linen was changed. But this was not an huge issue.

There are building works in front of the hotel but the noise really isn’t that bad. The only issue is the building blocks the sun from 2pm, and most of the loungers are in shade from mid morning.

Bar staff were lovely and informative, especially the lady who worked during the day. Cleaning staff were very polite.

Location is ok. Not walking distance to harbour or old town. But buses run locally and always the option of a taxi which is about €15 each way to the harbour. Walking distance to some lovely restaurants and the Lidl close by is handy for self catering.

All in all, you get what you pay for here. Basic but comfortable.

No sun on pool area
Pros:

Apartments are of a good size. Staff are very friendly. The problem was there is a huge block being built right behind it so was very noisy. Started work at 7.30 and went on till 4. Because of the tall building the sun went off the pool around 3 and so no good sitting round the pool area.
Also the cleaners kept forgetting to leave us clean towels and we had to ask twice for them.

Pros:

We're just back from Hilltop Gardens and we had a fantastic holiday. The hotel is a great base, room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Within walking distance to beach, Tomb of the kings, marina and bars.
Free WiFi, sky sports on in bar area, air con ( at a charge) and delicious freshly cooked food. The staff are hard working but really friendly . The weather was glorious all week.
Our return flight was a late one so paid the 25 euros to keep the room until 5pm.
The building work is a little noisy but didn't spoil our stay.
I'd definitely stay there again.

Pros:

Unfortunately a big building site next to the pool, which was very noisy during the day, the new building blocks the sun in the pool area so limited area of sunbathing and even that stops by 4 pm , such a shame as before that building site, I can imagine a lovey view of the sea, and the pool area sunny every where.
The staff are excellent and the apartment was cleaned every day, good supermarket with in walking distance as was nice beech and restaurants

Great holiday
Pros:

Just back and after reading a few negative reviews we really enjoyed it, ok a wee bit out but no big issue, locally there's a small shop on site, a lidel 10 mins walk, a smaller supermarket 5mins walk, and Hickory's, a most amazing restaurant 10 mins walk, ps fish and chips are to die for, taxi into marina 20 mins, taxi to old town 20 mins , local bus to coral bay 20 mins, the hotel was basic but clean, everything supplied in room , staff very nice, late checkout 25 € .we had a memorable holiday in a lovely place with lovely people

Nice holiday. Big review but plenty of info in it.
Pros:

As you will likely see below there are lots of mixed reviews below, however we want to share our experience.

We arrived quite late on Sunday around 11pm ish and were greeted by a lovely polite lady at reception. Paid for aircon around €7 per night. Totally worth the money. We had 2 units for the one price, one in the bedroom and one in the living room.

We did have a few issues, the shower head didn’t fit properly in the holder and kept falling out, the door handle was very loose, the balcony door locked me out 🤣, the bedroom blind was really dirty and the key holder that powers the electric was faulty.

We messaged the Jet2 what’s app number with some pictures of the issues and they asked the rep to call me the next day. First thing in the morning I received a call from Marcus the rep for the hotel. He was absolutely fantastic. He already spoke to the hotel and arranged with them to fix the issues which we thought was really good.

The hotel manageress Adri was also absolutely lovely, apologised for any issues and had them all fixed by 5pm that day. Adri also gave us a free late checkout as a gesture of good will which we thought was a lovely gesture.

This hotel has had a lot of flack at recent but it sounds like people are not allowing them a chance to fix anything. One thing we did like was we asked for a few things to be sorted and we haven’t been made to feel awkward in the slightest. The hotel team were happy to have the feedback and have been really friendly.

The hotel room is fine, a bit basic but it gets you by. If you want somewhere to get your head down whilst you explore then this is fine. If you like a posh room with loads of things in it then this is not the place for you.

There is building works behind the pool but we heard them only once and no one was bothered.

We had a few drinks from the bar, all in bottles but nice all the same. About €3.50 for Keo lager.

The sunbed rules here are great. No one is allowed to reserve, if you go in for an hour or so or go out you can’t leave your towels, you have to take them with you. We never had an issue all week getting a sunbed, not once.

The hotel itself is a good walk away from the restaurants etc, there is a corner shop 5 mins away, a good Lidl 10 mins away. The restaurants are about 20 mins walk, Kings avenue mall about 30 mins walk and the harbour is about 50 mins. All worth the walk as it’s a lovely area.

The old town market is 20 mins walk from the hotel.

Overall we have had a lovely holiday.

Not a 3 star hotel
Pros:

This hotel have a lot of mixed reviews from amazing to poor. We have spent a week there at the beginning of August. Yes you have to pay for aircon something around 7 euro per day and cant do without one. We arrive at night and been shown to our room by nice gentlemen, Room very basic not 3 star hotel and iam not fussy. Swimming pool is getting polystyrene dust from opposite building site. Prices at the hotel are expensive but there is a kitchenette in the room and very convenient LIDL store nearby. Location of the hotel is good especially if you like walking , its about 25 min walk to paphos old town , about 15 min walk to the archaeological site of Tombs of the kings . you can take bus 615 oposite lidl to Coral bay. Venus beach is again 10 min walk from the hotel. few restaurants nearby as well. Overall even its 3 star hotel and not expecting anything grandeur, its a bit of a let down as i would rate 2 star. Would not be coming back. You cant fault the staff working there , all friendly and helpful but overworked , on person at reception / bar same time.

Pros:

Booked this through Jet2 after speaking with them beforehand they said aircon was included in the price and from the pictures we seen on their website it looked amazing. We read the reviews beforehand some wasn’t good but the majority said it was excellent. So we booked and was looking forward to our holiday.
We arrived at 1:15am and there was no one on the desk to check us in we waited 15mins then someone came and it felt like we were an inconvenience for her. She grumbled about the aircon which we said was included in the price which a jet2 rep told us it was and we had to pay €10 deposit and €6.50 per night. We said we only want one night as we would speak to Jet2 about it. She showed us to the ground floor apartment which was absolutely filthy. If you’re expecting guests why wasn’t it clean. I was on the phone to Jet2 24hr contact number and gave them an update of the situation and was told the rep would phone in the morning. We tried to sleep on the poor quality beds and we slept fully clothed that night in case we caught something. Their rep phoned the next morning and we explained the situation and they sent the cleaners to clean and take the blooded net curtains down and he said he would see us that afternoon. Which this should have been cleaned before any guest arrival. We sat and spoke to him about the cleanliness of the room and also the building works that we had no idea about before we booked it only showed it on the small print on the accommodation voucher after we had paid which we wouldn’t have booked if we had known. The pictures on the Jet2 website are totally misleading to what it represents now. The bar is disgraceful as they cooked, serve food and not once did we see anyone wash their hands while the same person mans the bar, cooks and sorts the reception out!!! We asked to move and he said it will cost £800-£900. So we had to we could not stay there another night. If we were presented in the first place with all the facts we would not have booked here I feel that their pictures are very misleading. All I can say the people who have given it a great review must live like p in s

Amazing 5 nights at Hilltop Gardens
Pros:

Let me start by saying that we were slightly apprehensive after reading previous reviews but went with an open mind. After our stay however we were absolutely delighted with our stay at Hilltop Gardens

Rooms are spacious and perfectly adequate for self catering breaks with fridge/freezer, oven, hob, kettle and toaster. We had an upper floor room with a balcony which faced the back of the hotel with great sea view. There is building work behind the pool which can be a little noisy and dusty but this didn't affect our holiday in any way (5 year old slept through all the noise!)

The pool was surprisingly warm which was a nice change from our usual holidays in Spain/Greece where they are often too cold to spend a lot of time in. Sun loungers were easy to come by and even later in the morning or afternoon we could find somewhere to sit even as a party of 5

Yes food and drinks are a little more expensive than what you would pay out and about in resort but the prices are more than justified by the service given. Each and every member of staff we spoke to were so pleasant and chatty and it really made us feel welcome

We aren't adverse to walking and trips to Lidl (10 mins away) were easy enough even with shopping to carry. Walking further down the road we came across increasing numbers of bars and restaurants all within 20-25 mins walk. We also visited the port on a few evenings which was much busier with a vast choice of bars, shops and restaurants

If you do get out and about then I'd recommend visiting the "Tomb of The Kings", even with a 5 year old this was a really interesting trip and something that we all loved. It can be very hot though as there is little shade so might be worth doing in the morning or early evening. We also spent a morning on the "Jolly Roger" pirate cruise which was great for adults and kids, not too expensive with lunch included and the crew were amazing with all the acts and keeping the kids entertained. You can also "walk the plank" and swim in the sea from the back of the ship

I also need to give a huge shout out to the hotel manager as well as Connie and Tina. Throughout the stay they were great chatting to us and my daughter and made us feel extremely welcome. We also had an issue with our flight home which was cancelled at short notice and Tina was exceptional along with the manager arranging accommodation for us for an extra night until our flight the next day. What should have been an extremely stressful situation turned into another great day and night thanks to their help and kindness!

All in all we would 100% stay here again without any hesitation! We went with an open mind and I'd genuinely say that the hotel and staff well and truly exceeded our expectations!

Pros:

Just back from 2 weeks here. It was overall a positive experience .
Positives
Large rooms
10 minutes walk from a well stocked Lidl. Walk back was up a gentle hill that wasn't difficult even with shopping.
Pool was large enough for our requirements and was always clean when we were there . No problem getting a sunbed.
Locally restaurant the hickory was 10 minutes walk and was fab.
15 minutes to walk to tomb of the kings .
Bus outside lidl takes you to tomb of kings bus station in under 5 minutes €2 . T Bus journey to the harbour around 10 minutes or to old town .
Venus beach opposite lidl 10 minutes was wonderful and felt very safe with sunbeds .

Could walk to harbour in an hour in early evening morning when the heat decreased .
Bus the other way 30 minutes to coral bay which was lovely .
Icecream at the hotel restaurant were large €2.50
Cleaning service of rooms were efficient and regular.
There was some building work but it didn't affect our sleep or our enjoyment of the pool .
Staff were friendly and tried to help despite some having limited English
As it was away from the town centre bars it was quiet at night.
Hiring a car would give more options but public transport was easy , we ventured into Nicosia.
Negatives
Reception not very welcoming but we arrived very late .

Long wait at bar area , chips as a dish were only available with meals despite menu saying otherwise .
Food and drink expensive so avoided.
Bed settees were adequate but not particularly comfy.
Overall a good base to explore Paphos and surrounding areas with adequate clean but basic facilities .
If you want 5* accommodation at 3* prices and to be a short walk from Paphos harbour then this isn't for you .

Pros:

Despite this only being our second day l thought ld share a review.
We arrived late Wednesday night just before mid night and despite the late hour we received a warm and friendly welcome and girl even manage to knock us up some food.
On first impressions the place was cosy welcoming and very clean. We were shown to our room which was spotless and adequate fir our family of 4. We paid for air con which is essential in this heat… we have 2 units which are new… one in bedroom and one in living area. Last year we paid double as we paid fir each unit and it was 11 euros per day so l thought what we paid was very reasonable.
There are building works taking place which we were well informed of when booking so this should not be a surprise, l can’t comment what this was like last week but tbh l can’t hear any of he construction noise as it’s cancelled out with everyone chatting at the pool and the kids playing and splashing. Yes you can see the building under construction but it really hasn’t had any affect on us.
All staff that we’ve encountered have been chatty, pleasant and happy to help. There is only one bar member so she’s trying to do a million things but we don’t mind waiting as we are on holiday.
Overall an adequate ideal 3 star hotel for myself and my family. If your looking fir budget 3 star prices with 5 star luxury then pay the extra as this isn’t what this is but it’s clean and friendly.
Lidl is a 10 min walk at most which we stocked up on supplies and walked back.
The area is quiet but there is a scattering of bars under 10mins away and we are in Hickory last night which was delicious. We still need to explore more but I’ve heard if we walk a little further on there’s more bars/restaurants… looking forward to seeing more of Paphos.
Please don’t be too concerned about holidaying here the people we have spoken to are all enjoying it and said the fuss that was made last week about the polystyrene in the pool was over the top.

Pros:

General- It was basic. You have to pay extra, per day for air conditioning! The pool is open 9-6pm and it’s always busy. It would have been better if it was open later, when it’s cooler. No warm welcome, just asked questions and given keys. Felt like an inconvenience! Rented a car (€265 for 5 days) for a very small car. Without that, there wouldn’t have been many places to go. There’s a lidl, which was about a 10 min walk away and some restaurants and bars about 25 mins away.
Rooms- again, basic. No microwave, just an old oven and hob. No welcome pack. Just given a tea towel and washing up liquid and sponge. We were on the ground floor and the ants were everywhere. Staff gave us some power but didn’t help much. Bring insect repellent- as we were bitten every night! Cleaners knock on every morning. However, do not speak any English so difficult to request anything. Sometimes they take towels etc but don’t replace them. Beds are extremely uncomfortable. It’s two singles pushed together, not a double. Pull out sofas in the living room are just as uncomfortable. However, meant we got up early as we didn’t want to stay in bed! We had a small patio but it’s not child friendly as there’s a drop at the end.
Staff - there were two members of staff that were okay but the others were quite rude, abrupt and unhelpful.
Food - all food is prepared behind the bar, so we never eaten there. Prices were okay but expensive for what it was. €3.30 for Nescafé and €4.50 for filter coffee. Coke €3. Juice €2.50.
Facilities - small pool and small child pool. Older children were in the small
l pool at times which meant my daughter didn’t want to go in. Pool table at the back of the bar. Nothing for small children.
Overall - Will not be going back. Did not find the staff anywhere very friendly. Food was average and most things were expensive. We were spending approximately £150 a day and that was without excursions.

Pros:

Hotel is dirty, pool is filthy due to the building work. Also very noisy. Sunbeds and around the pool never gets cleaned. Inside the apartments are spacious but again cleaning is poor. The prices at the bar are expensive for food and drinks. I wouldn't recommend and we definitely wouldn't Come back. Alot of people have left the hotel and paid more to move hotels.

As I state at beginning, the hotel appears to 'fit' guests into their regime. Awful.
Pros:

I will attempt to be fair in writing this review. In essence, as a customer, it felt that myself and daughter had to 'fit' into the hotels regime. We were aware that construction was taking place near the hotel but not 15 to 20 metres from the pool area. I large, high building which was noisy every day. I find that Jet2 misrepresented the hotel and should have enabled us to make an informed decision by showing a picture of the construction. Our experience was shared by a large number of people and correlated with existing reviews. Here is our reason for giving a low score to Hilltop Gardens.

1. The original apartment was very small and dirty on our arrival. Hairs in the bath, sink and toilet. There were a number of areas needing repair and paint (apparently, the hotel had been refurbished).

2. We booked bed and breakfast, expecting at least a buffet style breakfast. In reality, we were shocked at the experience. The choice included: Fried egg on toast, scrambled egg on toast, beans on toast or a cheese and ham toastie. The food was cooked at the pool bar which was not the most hygienic place, although I tried the scrambled egg on toast and the cook, Conny made it well, despite being in a frying pan, which I am aware, people do prefer. In reality Conny was the most pleasant member of staff, always happy and providing good local information. However, this cannot be said by all staff. We were asked to sit at a table around the pool and when breakfast was ready, we were shouted to collect it. I felt there was also an expectation that we return the crockery etc to the bar. I asked for fresh orange and was informed it was not on the breakfast menu and instead, I was offered diluted orange. My daughter plays football to a good standard and eats very healthily. I asked for yoghurt and fruit to be provided for breakfast and again, this was refused.

3. The rooms were 'cleaned' every other day with the provision of towels, one medium ad one hand towel. As we showered daily, we found this was not sufficient. I went to reception where the staff was covering. I asked for one extra towel for my daughter and felt I was rudely told a straight NO. I pressed on this and informed the staff, it was becoming stressful having to make continual complaints. The staff member asked the senior maid who shouted in Greek which I was told, I could not have a towel. This was shocking and very poor customer service. Finally, the staff member called the manager and I was given one towel. Having come on holiday to leave the stress behind, I really don't know what to say.

4. I continued to complain about the poor standard of cleaning and frequency of towel changes. Previous hotels do changed every other day but we have always been provided with enough to last us two days.

5. Our bedding was not changed for the full two weeks were were at the hotel. This again was other people's experience.

6. The hotel was quite isolated, well off the main road where shops and bars were located. It took us 20 minutes to walk to the local Lid and if carrying water, it was a tough return. Restraints were further along to main road to have a better choice. The bus transport was unique. I informed the hotel staff that two busses drove straight past us and was told I needed to stand in front of them. Bus drivers were regularly on their mobiles whilst driving, one driver steered the bus with his knees while he counted the monetary notes and another drove through two red lights. Maybe this is the norm?

I involved the Jet2 rep the day after our arrival who I felt appeared to be defensive toward the hotel. He told me he was the middle man. I asked who he was representing and he said we were, I explained he was therefore not the middle man. This was around the 8th consecutive year with Jet2 and have never found cause to complain until now. I was informed that 3 star accommodation was different in Cyprus compared to Greece where we have visited year on year and had amazing accommodation and excellent customer service.

We found out that a family had checked into Hilltop Gardens the week before we arrived and they checked out the following day. Indeed the rep told us he had moved someone to another hotel, after giving a choice of three. This was the route I wanted to take and was also given a choice of three hotels to look at but was told, they may not all be available. When the rep informed me I would need to pay between £800 to £1000 for another three star hotel, I could not afford this.

I spoke to a number of families staying at the hotel who were experiencing similar problems. One couple had only one air conditioning unit working and reported the problem. I mentioned this to the rep and he checked. The management informed nothing had been reported. This was the defensive approach throughout, passing the issues back to the customer. As we were waiting for our airport transfer at the end of the holiday with other people, we were sat in front of the reception. A man spoke with the 'unhelpful' member of staff and having been at the hotel a week of his two weeks booked, he wanted to hand his keys in and leave. He was told he would have to wait until the next day.

I spoke to two ladies from Newcastle, one of whom had restricted mobility. They were put into a top floor apartment. When they asked where the lift was, they were informed there was no lift. They had to climb 50 steps to the room. On asking to be moved to the ground floor, they were informed this was not possible.

There is one easy way to build a bad reputation, this is to continue as they are. It felt to me that when the manager Andrea was not present, some staff made their own decisions, holding a lot of power. In relation to fairness, the manager did offer us a choice of three other rooms, though all needed a good clean and felt none were any better than we had. The manager offered another room and upgrade to a two bedroom apartment. It also was not clean but was a better room in terms of space.

I must have either seen or spoke to the rep most days during our two week stay. This was not a holiday for us, it was strewn with difficulties and continual complaints. In one discussion with the rep, I was informed the hotel manager used the free upgrade of room mitigated all the other concerns we have.

Andrea arranged for our room to be cleaned daily with a change of towels at the time. There was two occasions we did not have towel changes daily and the rep informed me, we repeatedly leave the towels in a pile on the floor. I explained that this is what we do on every holiday as it clearly sends the message the towels are in need of changing and we felt it more helpful to staff.

Having read the managers responses to complaints, rarely is anything seen as helping the hotel to improve or the problems are passed to the guest. I cannot tell people whether to use the hotel or not, I would not do this but I hope this information gives people the opportunity to make an informed decision.

Pros:

Avoid I'd at all possible .we are here now,and we're quite disappointed to be honest.Yes we came on a budget but we did except a better place than this our apartment is large enough, beds clean, but change of towels only every three days! Which we find unacceptable after been in the sun, with creams on ect, plus you have to shower the chlorine out of your hair every day .The bar staff lady Connie is an asset to this place, she is so friendly
the bar prices are very high for food and drink,it cost us 30 euro for two egg and chips and two cold drinks, well overpriced.weve had ants in the kitchen which we reported and to be fair was dealt I will with,as was the smelly drains outside our room we love pathos, but this place is just not for us,and we definitely won't be returning to this hotel apartment again, and I advise Jet2 to strongly recommend thinking about bringing people here .the cleaning is something to be desired ,don't waste your money if you can afford better .The pool is very warm, like a bath so doesn't cool you down, thank god for the shower by the pool much better for keeping cool .I will attach photos as we're leaving next week 😔

Fantastic Cheeky Week Away
Pros:

Arrived late 11pm on 25th June and met by the lovely Tina at Reception . Checked in Paid for safe and Air con ( it's a Must ). Found our apartment N13 Basic but spotlessly clean and comfortable . Wasn't sure what to expect as we usually do Tenerife ( Gold Crown Timeshare ) but was pleasantly surprised .It's a small hotel small pool only about 30 loungers but no problems getting one at 8:30 in the morning. Had Breakfast or lunch most days and the food was Amazing . Proper Home cooked Chips ( better than our Award winning Chippy at home !!! ) We only booked 6 weeks before for a cheeky wee break away and it was lovely . There are some restaurants quite near but about an hour walk to The Harbour . There is building work going on next door but the noise really wasn't that Bad ! Special mentions to Tina, Connie and John you are a credit to this hotel and nothing was a bother .Would I return ? Absolutely!! I would maybe choose an upstairs pool view next time but you get what you pay for and this was a last minute break for us . We paid only 25 euros to keep our room til 5 as we had a late flight but they do have a courtesy room that you can use free of charge for a wee shower and freshen up before catching your Flight . My honest Opinion it was Perfect 👌
