Had a great time. The hotel was really bright and warm. Great dining area and rooms really fit for purpose. Staff were so friendly and the breakfast was really really good. Definitely stay there again
Lovely staff, room was very basic but very clean. Breakfast was excellent and very handy location.
Excellent location within the city centre. We had a wedding anniversary to attend in the fire station creative which was within walking distance.
We stumbled across The City Hotel by chance as we were in Scotland for the Rugby.
Edinburgh hotels prices are crazy so found this hotel on Tripadvisor.
Price a 1/3 of Edinburgh prices with fabulous breakfast included and only a 30 minute train ride into Edinburgh.
Dunfermline is steeped in History and will definitely come back and advice all other Rugby followers to stay here for quality food, warm spacious room, fabulous friendly staff and best breakfast I have had in a long time.
Lovely staff, and all very helpful. The room was comfortable and very well presented. The breakfast was excellent, and the choice of food very good! The location of the hotel is very central, access to the city's attractions was easy (mostly a short walk). I would definitely recommend this hotel.
I booked the wrong date and the staff were super helpful and changed it over without any issue.
Really friendly and what a lovely breakfast they offer.
Great location in the middle of Dunfermline.
Stayed one night at the City Hotel while attending a family occasion. Was struck by its ideal location practically next door to the the lovely Pittencrieff Park which I'd have loved to explore given more time and less grim weather!
The hotel had a nice informal feel thanks to the friendly cheerful members of staff at reception, the bar area and the breakfast room. The receptionist was particularly helpful at tirelessly answering queries. Provided me with an iron and ironing board, stored my luggage after I'd checkout out and provided my with sonewhere to change clothes after my family occasion. Thank you.
My single room (24) was on the second floor up a steep set of stairs. Not suitable for those unsteady on their feet so be sure to mention at time of booking. The room was a bit cramped and quite hot (but then again this was Dunfermline in January!) but it was very clean, as was the bathroom with its very good shower.
Breakfast was included in my stay, so I enjoyed a substantial tasty Full Scottish Breakfast as well as all the usual breakfast staples. Very good coffee. Found the breakfast serving times (7am-9am) a bit severe.
I enjoyed my stay at the City Hotel and would happily stay there again.
A really lovely hotel in a great location. Lovely staff and the restaurant was lovely and reasonably priced. Would definitely stay here again
Lovely stay at this City centre hotel. Lovely atmosphere on arrival and a great welcome. The room (business room) was smaller than we expected but was comfortable and clean and had a great shower room. Good to see a waste paper basket in bedroom and a bin in bathroom. The window opened (wonderful as it was warm) and there was thoughtfully, a decent fan in the room. Usually you have to ask for a fan, so this was impressive. The quality/firmness of the pillows was excellent too. Too often pillows in hotels are too soft and uncomfortable. The one negative in the room was that the hairdryer (borrowed from reception) had no plug point near enough the mirror to dry my hair. This was very frustrating and such a simple thing to sort (the mirror on the wall couldn't be moved either). We had a meal with 5 friends in the restaurant in the evening and this was very good. All the meals were hot and tasty, good drinks and happy smiling staff. We felt breakfast was a bit early (up to 9am on a Saturday), but it was made to order and tasty.
The Hotel is ideally situated in the Town of Dunfermline. It is close to the bus station, the park, the Abby and lots of hostelries.
A Great place to stay! A warm welcome, and a very nice room. The staff were all friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was perfect. The bed was very comfortable and the room was well equipped. The location of the hotel is very central for everything in Dunfermline. I will definitely be back, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others.
Thank you to all the staff there for a lovely stay!
Stayed in hotel on bed and breakfast as attending show at the Alhambra. Our room was excellent and a good size. We had dinner in the restaurant, the food and service very good. We will be back.
Great wee hotel in the historic centre of Dunfermline.
10 minutes walk from the Alhambra Theatre. Nearby is the Abbey and Palace, plus the magnificent Pittencrief Park.
Room was small, but ideal for an overnight stay.
Bed very comfortable.
Breakfast was delicious- large portions!
Recommend.
This was a last minute booking because I had to be in the Edinburgh area a day earlier due to a storm hitting the north part of Scotland. It was very affordable and easy to get to from Waverly Station by train (although the walk to the hotel is mostly uphill from the station). I had a meal at the hotel restaurant on the day I checked in, and it was very delicious and reasonably priced, and the included breakfast was great. Also there was a supermarket a short walk away for snacks. The only negative about the room was that I found the shower doors were very narrow, so it took a bit of effort to go in and out, but nothing that would prevent me from staying here again!
System was hacked & had to put a stop on my debit card & as yet received no actual apology & just told it was not the city hotels fault. However, the breakfast was lovely, staff & service good. Been assured the hackers do not have my personal details??? Not very happy with the situation
Food and room great.
Good central location. Great clean room and breakfast was very good.
We stayed here for our daughter’s wedding and found the hotel to be clean and the staff to be friendly and helpful. It’s very close to the City Chambers and the Glen which is beautiful for photographs.
breakfast was great staff so friendly and obliging have stayed here several years running always been very good will be back next year
Exactly what I expected
Will definitely be back
