The position and grounds were lovely. The staff were great and the breakfast was very good. The room was very clean and the bathroom was spotless.
The bed was very soft and the room needed a little updating / tlc.
Stemningsfyldt hotel med god morgenmad
Det var lidt slidt. Man skulle bede receptionen om at tænde for det varme vand, for at gå i bad
Beautiful decor. Lovely breakfast
Lack of toileteries
It is an attractive building with character. Alex greeted us in a very friendly manner and was extremely helpful and courteous throughout our stay. He let us have a big bucket of ice for use overnight and a bag of ice to take on our onward journey. Another member of staff was also kind enough to give us a bowl of decaffeinated tea bags and a fresh jug of milk, which we really appreciated.
The decor in our room was tired, with wallpaper starting to peel and paint starting to pop, although the room itself was very comfortable. We enjoyed having a fan as it was a very hot day.
The breakfast could have been better. We were the only ones in the dining room at first and everything had to be served to us as there was no buffet. I would like to have been able to see things, at least the cold offerings. I specifically asked for lightly cooked bacon but when it arrived it had obviously just been reheated and was overcooked and hard to cut, which was disappointing. The rest of the meal was satisfactory.
Nice location, a couple of the front desk staff were friendly, courteous and gave us suggestions on nearby attractions to visit.
1. We weren't told that there was a lift available at the time of check-in which we could have used to carry our suitcases. We came to know about the lift only when checking out when the cleaning staff told us that there was a lift we could use!
2. The TV in our room was tiny about the size of a laptop monitor and the kids were very disappointed.
3. The upstairs room was really hot due to the hot weather. We asked the front desk staff on the 2nd day to provide an additional fan which they did.
Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Lovely grounds. Good breakfast
N/A
Spotlessly clean. Central to the village.
We could not have a drink from the bar at 4.30 in the afternoon, as the pipes/pumps were being cleaned.
Surely this should be done in the morning, when alcohol is not being served. So, we were unable to have a alcoholic beverage and sit in the grounds on a beautiful afternoon. So, we took our trade to the town.
Staff were great
Quiet and comfortable hotel. Good breakfast (additional cost). The staff were kind and helpful.
There is not much happening in this town or the surrounds. We struggled to find somewhere to eat for dinner.
This family-owned country house hotel on the edge of Usk was a revelation for us; rarely have I found an hotel so comfortable and so well serviced. Our dog-friendly room (34) was on the second floor, with two upholstered chairs and a desk chair; the bathroom was ideal, having a bath (our preference) and a shower overhead. The room was serviced daily.
The dining rooms were air conditioned. Breakfast was table service and with a good (but not extensive) range of food. The dinner menu was also not extensive, but it certainly had more than enough to ensure we dined there on the two nights of our stay. Both breakfast and dinner were beautifully presented by courteous and efficient staff.
The hotel has several public areas, making it a haven for guests. Thickly carpeted corridors, doors leading to a couple of bars, a drawing room, a library and a ball room … all set within a lovely garden shaded by trees.
Usk is a five-minute riverside walk from the hotel and has great charm. Raglan Castle is less than 15 minutes’ drive and shouldn’t be missed. We were surprised how quick and simple the journey was from Berkshire, how well placed it was for exploring, and yet how quiet the setting.
Okay but more thought needed for allergies at breakfast
Rooms were unbearably hot. When we arrived all widows were closed and curtains open. Had to leave the room for hours to cool down
Unusual
No hot water
This is a charming classic style hotel with a family owned feel to it.
The food is excellent such that we sent our compliments to the chef.
The staff we met were all very friendly.
It sits in its own grounds, good car parking. Only 10 minutes walk to the town of Usk.
Excellent breakfast and early start. Great quiet lift.
A walk- in shower with door would be helpful for elderly people.
A very pleasant one night stay in a very comfortable room.
Staff very welcoming and Usk is always a great place to stay.
Nothing really.
NIce out of the way hotel. Good size rooms.
The room was hot. We couldnt really oopen the windows as there was a graduation party downstairs
Beautiful property & conveniently located.
Very near the interesting Usk Castle.
