Pros:

This property is a cozy gem and haven to those seeking quiet time away from tourist areas while still having reasonable access to local and foreign attractions. It is aesthetically pleasing with its unique and meaningful bubblegum pink decor, carefully picked art pieces reflecting the owner’s passion, attention to detail, and love of culture, an enticing warm pool, and a patio with views of dickenson beach within reasonable walking distance. It is also surrounded by a few restaurants within driving distance. My room was spacious, clean, well ventilated and private. The cherry on top was discovering that this was a black woman owned property. The owner Jackie is a treasure. She was nurturing, resourceful, went above and beyond with bookings, recommendations, transportation, and ensured my safety during my stay. It was also a pleasure to hear her story and learn that she is and continues to be a selfless pillar of support to her community. I highly recommend this place and hope to visit again soon.

Pleasant stay at the beautiful pink hotel
Pros:

My family and I had a wonderful stay at Villa at Sunset Lane in Antigua. This charming boutique hotel exceeded our expectations in every way. The owner, Jackie, provided superb care—ensuring that every aspect of our stay was seamless and memorable. Her attention to detail and warm hospitality truly stood out. The rest of the staff was equally attentive and welcoming. Jackie’s meals were absolutely delicious, and the property was just as described on the website—beautiful, peaceful, and well-maintained. The location is excellent, with easy access to nearby beaches, resorts, and the town of St. John’s. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a personal and relaxing island experience.

Warm Hospitality at the The Villas at Sunset Lane
Pros:

Our spacious villa was beautiful and our host, Jackie, was outstanding! We were delayed on our flight and she had a warm meal awaiting our arrival. The property is clean and very well maintained and very quiet! Highly recommend! Please note there are multiple sets of stairs for those with large, heavy suitcases or mobility concerns.

Beautiful bedrooms, individual hospitality
Pros:

We arrived at the Villas after 4 frenetic days in New York and it was the perfect place for relaxation and rejuvenation. Our room was beautiful, with a huge comfortable bed and enormous bathroom, with bath and shower. The hot water takes quite a long time to come through but when it does it’s good pressure. We were pretty much the only guests for the first part of the week and so had plenty of opportunity to ask Jackie for her advice, which she gave freely, making calls for us to book a tour and a rental car. We ate in for dinner three times in the week on pre designated evenings and each time the food was delicious with local ingredients, followed by coconut ice cream. Continental breakfast included each morning was a simple offering of fresh fruit and toast with marmalade, yogurt and cereal was available on some days but not all. There was an option of eggs on request.
The pool was good for swimming lengths before breakfast and on returning to the villa at the end of the day. Jackie provided pool and beach towels.
Dickinson Bay is about 10 minutes walk down through the garden and Road where there are some restaurants and bars and a small beach.
All beaches in Antigua are public although some hotels put security on them, it is only to make sure non residents don’t use the hotel sunbeds etc.
Highlights of the week - Jackie booked us a tour with Uncle Ted, a charming tour host who introduced us thoroughly to the island, via Rastafarian street food, demonstrations of local flora, and all the stops at places of interest. It was our first visit to Antigua so well worth this day. Then we revisited some of them when we hired a car, to spend a little more time at Nelson’s Dockyard, Betty’s Hope and drive down some of the smaller roads. All roads have potholes, some pretty deep so you have to be alert.
We caught the bus into St John’s - you just flag it down and call out stop when you want to get off. Very good value and certainly cheaper than taxis.
Favourite restaurant was the Salt Plage for a reasonably good selection and friendly service, try the ribs at lunchtime. We also went to Roots, but service was incredibly slow and whilst my husbands meal was good, the lamb casserole was disappointing for the price.
There’s so many beaches to choose from, our favourite was Darkwood which has a beautiful long beach, lots of umbrellas for hire, but was never crowded. The beachside café serves a good selection and has clean toilets.
The Villas was a lovely base from which to explore the island, Jackie’s help and hospitality made things easier, including providing aloe from the garden for sunburn, and we really enjoyed our stay. A very individual experience if you want something different from standard international hotels.

Pros:

Wonderful, home-style yet sophisticated service and excellent cuisine. The proprietor has extensive international experience, but a strong commitment to Antigua. Fine pool facilities in a cozy setting. Not on the beach, but in walking distance. We would love to go back.

Pros:

We loved our stay here! Tranquil oasis with a lovely pool, huge rooms and comfy beds, and delicious fresh fruit and coffee with a view every morning. Walkable to Dickenson Bay in about 7 minutes. We hired a car (would recommend) and was a great base to visit other parts of the island and near lots of good restaurants. Jackie was great and helped us with restaurant bookings and recommendations. The place was very clean and was a great alternative to the big resorts.

Pros:

First of all when we booked it stated breakfast was included, that’s not the case, at checkout we had a surprise bill that included a total of more than $200. The owner told us that only “continental breakfast” was included. They should have mentioned that to us otherwise we would’ve bought food somewhere else. They failed to mention that we had to pay for breakfast, we had to we’re under the impression that there was only a charge for dinner and not breakfast, they need to be more specific. They didn’t even have a menu so how were we supposed to know that. On arrival there was no one at the desk to receive us, then someone finally called the manager who told us to check in online. I tried to check in multiple times and it wouldn’t let me, but I guess no one really cared about that. They also stopped cleaning our room after the second night. Our last few nights they left the room dirty. Also, this is far from everything you have to take a cab everywhere, and these cab drivers charge per person not a total charge, total rip off.

Wonderful property near Dickenson Bay
Pros:

Amazing views, well maintained property with all the amenities and huge amount of living space in our two bedroom villa we rented for 5 days. You will need a rental vehicle as only breakfast is guaranteed. No lunches and dinner must be scheduled in advance. No bar on premises. We ended up at restaurants for dinner and ate lunch most days at the beach. Dickenson Bay is only a 15 min walk. We actually had a full kitchen and realized there is a wonderful supermarket a short 5 min drive away. Easy to stock up on snacks and beverages. Jackie (the owner) is a wonderful host and helped us continually with our questions and provided excellent guidance. Looking forward to coming back here next season!

We got lucky to stay here and meet Jackie!
Pros:

We got lucky finding this place after our flight was cancelled. Jackie was an amazing hostess who cooked us a lovely dinner upon our late arrival. Everything from a bottle of chilled wine to delicious chicken and fish. The room was spacious and just perfect for our needs. Everything here is super clean and just right. The breakfast and the staff in the am was just as lovely. We walked to the beach with no problems and had a nice morning before flying back. Thank you Jackie.

Amazing stay.
Pros:

Booked The Villas at Sunset Lane and couldn’t be any happier. The hotel is very clean and well kept. Our rooms had mini refrigerators in the room and were stocked with bottled water. The highlight of this hotel was the owner Jackie. She had great stories about her life, gave great recommendations and was an amazing cook. We enjoyed her breakfasts and dinners which were cooked fresh. The hotel was a short walk to the beach with food served nearby. When we wanted to venture out Jackie gave us a ride to the bus station which was nice. I highly recommend her place as you won’t be disappointed.

A beautiful property with incredible soul and heart
Pros:

This property is amazing, quiet, clean, comfortable, and best of all it is managed by the lovely owner/chef Jackie. She has a natural warmth that is something one is born with. She made our stay extra special just with her smile, kindness, and going the extra mile to assist us with taxis and giving us suggestions for local restaurants. Thank you!

An island gem.
Pros:

This place is a gem. Quiet and a short walk from the beach. Jackie, who runs this little villa is the reason this place is so inviting and pleasant. The view from the veranda to the beach is perfect place to see the sunset and the fact the its painted pink will make you love this place even more.

Jackie: The Bed and Breakfast Queen Who Goes the Extra Mile (and Brings Beer Too!)
Pros:

To start, I can't brag enough about the host and owner, Jackie. She was absolutely amazing, always ready to provide any assistance we needed, from restaurant recommendations to serving morning coffee and fresh fruit in bed. She even went to town to get beers for our group when we arrived!

The accommodations were fantastic, with spacious rooms and a large pool. The place was spotless, both inside and out, with modern amenities and TVs in all the rooms. It truly felt like a home away from home.
