I checked into a Lakeview room that does not have a lakeview. Apparently, all their rooms are similar (not having a good view of the lake) except for the suite. I have to walk to the windows, and bend my body to glimpse a ⅛ view of the lake.
I told the reception that, if the view of the room does not have a good lakeview, perhaps the reservation portal should state "partial lakeview" or ⅛ lakeview. Otherwise the front desk manager was quite kind to come to explain and offer apologies which honestly is not his fault.
The location is decent and staff are good but rooms are small, breakfast offerings are standard and boring and the lifts are a bit of a nightmare.
In the past couple of years I have been using this facility for business travels. The services in this hotel can be highlighted by the executive lounge staff who are warm and attentive, particularly Doris who is always very helpful and energetic. Nothing that goes to her attention went without a complete and satisfactory resolution. She would proactively track the guests to check in on the day and ensure all conveniences are in place. She would personally attend to guest needs such as recovering a lost object. I had a couple of experiences where Doris personally committed to recover my lost objects. Once it’s was a pair of ear plug that i left in my bath robe. And another time is a night guard for my tooth that I left on the bathroom counter. Both occasions she managed to have worked with the room services to have uncovered those and forwarded to my next destination. Over the years during my extensive travels worldwide, I could see Doris stand out with her passion to serve and ingenuity to ensure guests have the most rewarding experiences staying at this facility. Her energy, warmth and attention to details are exemplary. Whenever business calls me to Nanjing, this facility is always my first option, largely because there is Doris there to give you a peace of mind that you will be well taken care of!
great hotel
可以, 但是 sauna room was broken. I couldn’t use it.
My husband and I were there from June 21st until July 3rd, it was a great experience there. Before we went, I made three different reservation due to unsure itienary. The first night was booked the last, so when we got there been told the hotel was pretty full, and they would help us to swtich to the higher level for the coming days. And the employee at front desk Mr. William Wang that night left a note for us, we got upgraded the following dates. His service was impressive, the second time he met us still can call us by our last name.
The lake view from our room was stunning, and the room was quite spacious. The cleaness of the room during the whole 10days stay was super satisfied. And the house keeper is caring and loving.
There was only one thing not really pleasant was the smell outside of the lobby, we understood it might not can be controlled by the hotel, but it ruin a bit of the hotel image.
All in all we love this hotel with it convenient location and high standard service.
Convenient and easily accessible to transportation.
The location is excellent. It is close to the lake and rooms have great views. Breakfast is what you would expect from the hotel. The hotel is above a mall with a subway station so its very easy to access. Rooms were spacious and the staff friendly. It even has a little robot delivery person scooting around that brings your fod orders up etc if you order from a company outside of the restaurant.
Excellent hotel , very nice ambiance, nice staff
On my first night at around 430am while I was deeply in sleep, the wooden bed board fell and hit my head. I woke up in pain and checked what’s going on. Then I felt dizzy and wanting to throw up so I called the hotel immediately. The duty manager Daisy took me to a nearby hospital and the doctor suggested a CT scan. I must say Daisy was very caring and attentive.
The doctor came back with a minor concussion and damage of the brain tissue and recommended I monitored myself for 3 days. If I don’t feel any dizziness then I can go back to my home country. So I stayed at Westin for 3 nights. I must say having a wooden board felling off the bed is simply dangerous and I was lucky I didn’t suffer major injuries.
What worries me besides the safety of the hotel is the hospitality issue. This is a 5-star hotel and as a Titanium member having suffered injuries and nervous shock, the General manager did not bother sending his/her regards - no notes, no flowers, no fruits, NOTHING! Plus the compensation this hotel offered was simply heartless and insulting.
This chain of incidents do raise the question, is this really a Westin hotel or a Marriot property? Also the air conditioning in the room is very noisy. So if you really want some sweet dreams, stay somewhere!
I had a delightful stay at Westin Xuanwu Lake. Great location. Excellent service. Unbeatable views and breakfast buffet. Highly recommend! I'll definitely stay again next time when I visit Nanjing!
My stay at Nanjing Westin was the worst in my life so far. Went for breakfast around 9:45 AM, waitress guided me to a table for two, but right after I sat down, a man came and told me it’s his table. I had to find a waitress to get me another table, unfortunately tables were nearly full until i saw 4-5 guests about to leave, but there’s a kid so foods were all over the place near the baby seat. I asked the waitress to clean the table and floor so that i can get seated, it took maybe 5 minutes for them start doing the cleaning and they seemed not be aware of the inconvenience they brought to customer. When my friend came and found the table is still not ready, we started looking for other table and there were two guests about to leave, so we finally got seated. Apart from the poor experience during breakfast, the sink in the room was not clean at all, since I was pretty tired, i decided not to argue with the hotel which i now think i should have done it. When i checked out, i told front desk what i have been through and she was very sorry about it. She offered me free afternoon tea or buffet dinner which is kind, but i didn’t want to go the hotel again.
My husband and I stayed 3 nights at the hotel and were very happy with the room, amenities, ambience, breakfast and especially the service. Special thanks to Rick Zhang, concierge on the first floor who went over and beyond helping us with booking of Chengdu Panda base on the next leg of our trip. Also thanks to William Ma who had been very helpful during our stay at the hotel. Will definitely stay here again in the future. Highly recommended.
It's the basic room you would expect. It was clean, bed was comfortable, staff were helpful and professional. Breakfast was the normal buffet you find at this chain, obviously being in mainland, 90% of the dishes were local fare.
There is a large mall next door, with a Metro station in the basement, so it makes getting to the hotel very easy, plus any sight seeing trips you make are easy on the Metro and you don't have to fight the cities insane traffic.
Bathroom is dated and shows it's age, needs an update.
Before we left our hotel in the morning , we put up the “do not disturb” sign and switched on the “do not disturb“ light at the door and even personally instructed the housekeeping staff (who happened to be cleaning the opposite room) not to go inside our room. To our dismay, when we returned in the evening, our room was entered and clean despite all the “do not disturb” sign and light, and our verbal instructions. We checked that our personal items were moved around in the room. No good reason was provided by the hotel, just merely that they made a mistake, that’s all. We are very disappointed with the hotel and WILL DEFINITELY NOT stay in this hotel again!
I have been living there multiple times. I am impressed by the wonderful service there each time. For instance, the staff in the gym like Mr. Zhong Chen offered the earnest helps when I got my locker locked without the key. Moreover, the breakfast there was pretty nice and it covers a lot local street food for us to attempt.
Very good service by sister Lily Xia. She is excellent in housekeeping duties with professional skills . Very punctual and will take care of small details when doing her work. She is soft spoken and well mannered .
Jennifer Red Rosie was super helpful to us during our stay in Nanjing. Jennifer helped us figure out the best way to go see the Sun Yat-Sen Mausoleum and surrounding sights, first on the map and then she even helped us get a taxi.
Visiting Nanjing on business for a couple days, picked Nanjing Westin to stay for the first time. Got upgraded to club level. Joyce and Carrie in Westin Executive Club are very kind and helpful. I am looking forward to travel back soon.
The Westin Nanjing has a wonderful location next to Xuanwu Lake, and we were lucky to get an upgrade to the lake view suite, thanks to the friendly staff at the executive club lounge! Carrie, Angela and Joyce are very professional and they ensured my stay in Nanjing a wonderful experience.
