Reading some reviews we had some trepidation about this hotel. However we were very pleasantly pleased. Had the family room which came with fridge (which want advertised) and a kitchen if you paid 10 euros a day for the cupboards to be unlocked! Clean, pretty spacious and a lovely lake view. We actually had two balconies which were very large (room 525). Short walk into town. Plenty of sunbeds and WiFi so good I could watch sky sports on my phone whilst sunbathing. Best place to sunbathe is over the road at Hotel La Paul, shared ownership.
Nice gelatos near the hotel and a short walk into beautiful Sirmonie. Easy to get the water taxis. All the staff were very nice, apart from "Grumpy" who worked the breakfast buffet. If you stay here you'll soon know who I mean! Recommended stay for the price.
Liked · The location of this hotel is excellent, what a beautiful place. The hotel itself is OK, it is old but could be so much better with some simple changes. The room was nice, big and clean and we found the beds comfortable. The maid came daily and we didn't really have any complaints on that front. The rest of the experience fell short.
Disliked · The b/fast was the worst I've come across. The eggs are cooked with a strong cheese, the ham tasted of chlorine and the pastries were hard. We stuck to the granola and yoghurt and couldn't eat anything else. There is a big slab of blue cheese out daily, uncovered and the smell of this hits you as soon as you come downstairs. It made the b/fast experience even more unpleasant. I never saw one person eat it. The staff seem flustered even though there isn't that much going on and when you request a coffee they seem put out. There is a tree in the middle of the room and the roots are lifting all the tiles up. There is a lot of brown of brown furniture and not enough sunbeds. The small pool outside was filthy. Overall, there is no effort put in to make the outside space welcoming which is such a shame. The sister hotel is better across the road but there are similar issues there too; not enough sunbeds etc.
We booked a room called "Panorama laterale". When we walked into the room, there was no view. Nothing! A big tree, roofs, maybe 5% of it was a view on a far mountain/sky above the lake. But no lake! We went back to reception, saying that we paid extra for the "partial view", but there was nothing to see. We asked a refund, or a room with the view. He said at 5 PM he could do nothing. He had 2 rooms with a full view, but he could not give one of them to us. We asked for a manager. He called her (Concetta). She said the same - nothing they could do! My husband asked to talk to her, and she was mad that we bothered her after 5 PM. 1 hour later they said we could have the panoramic view room for 150 Euros more! It was on the 1st floor, view on half-naked people on the beach. We refused to pay extra for something we were supposed to already have with our booking. We kept the same room with a view on the roofs with no refund offered. In the morning, during breakfast, my daughter asked for orange juice. They said they did not have it, and my husband asked to show what juices thy had in the cabinet. While reaching there, one juice carton fell on the flour. 2 min later manager Concetta came to our breakfast table and told us loudly to leave the hotel in 1 hour (humiliation!), no second night stay. My husband explained what happened at breakfast but she said he was lying! Expedia, the receptionist said their PARTIAL VIEW rooms are like that -no view! Don't sell their rooms as with view
Poolen på bilden är en barnpool, kan vara bra att veta, vi fick dock tillgång till grannhotellets vuxen pool när jag ifrågasatte vart vuxen poolen var.
Magisk utsikt från balkongen över sjön

Area over looking the sea is great, until you try and get out, hidden steps help. Although no major issues, it did feel that you were over paying for the room quality and breakfast, however, from a location perspective it was a 20 minute walk from the centre of town which made things relatively accessible. Pool is very much a toddler pool.
Cozy hotel with the possibility of both swimming in Garda and in the pool. The neighboring hotel's pool is recommended (available to this hotel's guests). Parking options in the area. Very tight and the car got really dirty from birds. Cozy center within walking distance. Expensive restaurants so bring your own big wallet.
very old facility, the glass shower shattered while i took a shower and cut my hands and leg, on top of that they charged me 100 euro, and didnt care what happened to me.
their booking profile lacking alot of information, and the pictures are missleading
Da evitare
Hotel Smeraldo is a good budget hotel the staff are very friendly and a good buffet breakfast is supplied
We booked through TUI and were allocated a ground floor room we asked to move up to a higher floor as from past experiences we know it can get noisy in the morning and this was true here as about 0630 we were disturbed by staff going about their various duties However despite the receptionist being helpful we were not able to change rooms As it turned out when we were awoken we went for a swim in the lake which was easily accessible from our room
The wi fi was poor and a good connection was only available around the main reception area
The best part of this hotel is that you get access to Hotel Paul across the road where lake access is better and the general outlook better and good wi fi It seems that Hotel Smeraldo is an annex to Hotel Paul
Bike rental is free and bikes were in good condition for short rides
The restaurant attached to Hotel Paul (Canneto) is one of the best places to eat with a good view of the lake and sunset the food is good quality and as good as if not better than many other places at good prices
We booked a room with two beds , when we came they charged us , but after that gave us unit with single bed.
We asked them to cancel, as it did not work for us, they refused. We ended up not staying with them and trying to get refund. They are simply trying to keep our money! I interacted with many hotels in Italy, this one by far the worst !!
grazioso albergo a due passi dal lago e da Sirmione
Ottima posizione, camera molto spaziosa, parcheggio comodo
The lake view is stunning and it is so peaceful to sit right next to the water! The hotel staff were very helpful and went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. The hotel is a ten minute walk from the old town, which was a huge upside to our stay. The hotel would benefit from a bar with a coffee machine for the evenings- however, La Paul, the hotel adjoined to this one, does have this.
