An excellent stay.
Pros:

The hotel has a beautiful and modern lobby. The elevators are fast and large. The lounge is also large and comfortable with great views and excellent food-varied and fresh. The room (King, view of the Bund) was large and showcases the dynamic city of Shanghai through the views. The location is very central-right next to Nanjing, the main tourist street. Housekeeping and hotel maintenance are excellent. We liked it so much that we have already booked another stay.

Another great stay at our “go to” hotel in Shanghai
Pros:

We recently returned to the Marriott Marquis Shanghai City Centre Hotel for a four night stay. We have visited many times over the past 13+ years. It is our favorite hotel in Shanghai.

The hotel is large, about 40 stories and located near People’s Square and Nanjing Road. People’s Square is a massive subway station where several lines cross, similar to Times Square in New York. On the surface you find People’s Park. Out another way, the hotel is in the center of everything.

This is a very elegant hotel and the price is very reasonable by New York standards. It is spotlessly clean and well maintained. The staff you encounter in the lobby are fluent in English.

We usually take taxis when we leave the hotel. The concierge desk arranges for it, the taxi comes a few minutes later and a bellman at the curb helps you into the taxi and confirms your destination address with the driver. Very professional.

The rooms are large and comfortable. We stayed in a suite. I thin’ these are called River Suites because they have a view of the river and the skyscrapers of Pudong beyond.

The beds are great and have plenty of pillows. The bathroom had both a tub and a separate shower with both rainfall and hand held shower wand features.

If you have the right Bonvoy Rewards status or book a higher tier room, you have access to the M-Club, the executive lounge. On this occasion it was not open for breakfast, but you could have a complimentary breakfast in the City Bistro restaurant on the 3rd floor.

Are there negatives? Not that I can think of. We like this hotel a lot and keep coming back.

櫃檯接待人員態度差勁，但房務打掃人員絕對是五星好評。

Cons:

辦理入住時，都出示完證件跟付錢了，過程中都跟櫃檯人員Ellie講中文，誰知道她給我們房卡時突然狂講英文，給人的感覺沒有很好，不知道她在幹嘛。另外，我們入住的外灘景觀房有一晚房間沒電，打電話去跟服務台人員說，給的解決方法是選擇方便的時段等工程師來修，無預警斷電還真不是標榜五星級該有的品質。最後，退房後領取寄放的行李箱時，工作人員直接放手將行李箱大力滑給我們，而不是好好轉交給我們。總之，大廳接待人員態度不如預期，甚至讓人觀感不好，之後不會選擇這家。

My preferred business hotel
Pros:

The Shanghai Marriott Marquis City Center is my preferred business hotel in Shanghai. Rooms are in perfect condition. The beds comfortable. For exercising, the hotel offers a sufficiently large pool with opening times suitable for business travellers. The selection of breakfast is ample. Particularly mentionable is the friendly staff that walks the extra mile to help its guests.
