I have stayed here many times in the past and it's always been excellent up until now.
Shower started dripping a 4am making impossible to sleep. The shower was also set to very hot and not possible to regulate the temperature. This wasn't too bad until I told the receptionist on leaving. She suggested if the shower was that bad that I should have got dressed and gone downstairs to tell the night staff. When I said you expect me to get up at 4am to sort out a plumbing problem she became rude suggesting I was at fault for not reporting this. I will not be going back here again and found staff attitude towards paying customers disappointing and rude.
Friendly staff, clean facilities, good parking .
Hard mattress , shallow bath
The breakfast was amazing clean room beautifully decorated
The pool was closed
Nice building and staff friendly.
Initial room had black flakes coming out of bathtub tap so staff kindly moved us to new room. Both rooms were fairly worn and tired with scrapes on walls and unclean splashes on walls.
Location was good, the staff were very nice, just not enough of them. Fortunately there is a very nice place to eat within a 5 minute walk.
We were informed about the building work and lack of leisure facilities however the standard of room cleanliness is one of the worst I have experienced. We were however able to change rooms and the second room was better… however why hotels scrimp on a decent TV nowadays is beyond me (these were tiny and very old) Understaffed, particularly during breakfast where we had to wait a long time and sit on a dirty table as there was 1 member of staff doing everything (not her fault, she was doing her best)
The decor of bar
Extremely disappointed to find that the hotel was going through refurb. Booked this as was attending the Ultra event in lakes and paid more for the hotel thinking it would be more luxurious and a treat for myself. The room had a horrible stench, smelt like wet dog spoke to reception about it on arrival and they said they didn't accept dogs. There was scaffolding outside the window of room so couldn't open window for fresh air. Will definitely not return, although spoke to reception twice about feeling disappointed they at no point took responsibility or tried to speak to management. Just said it was booked through Booking.com and they should of made me aware! I think if you arrive at a hotel that is being disrupted and spa facilities not available a complimentary drink or breakfast would have been a nice gesture.
Convenient location
Staff ere very friendly and professional and the food was excellent
In the middle of refurbishment so did see it at its best
Staff very good and helpfull. Food very good and very clean.
Very nice helpful staff warm, as the weather at the time was very cold.a taxi was ordered for us to go to town nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast very good.
No complaints
Staff super. Gluten free aware. Lovely evening meal. Been before. Refurbishments ongoing but not a problem for us.
Too hot in rooms overnight.
Our room was basic compared to other hotels we have stayed in. The evening meal was excellent but a bit pricey.
The windows in our room had mould all around them. The room we stayed in was quite basic.
We could hear other people through the walls.
They were quite short staffed.... they gave us the wrong breakfast that we ordered (there was only my husband & myself dining along with one other gentleman).
When we went to check out, the gentleman tried to charge us again for our stay, even though we had paid upfront the night before!
We travel a lot, so compared to other places we have stayed, we felt that this was a little overpriced.
I appreciate that the building itself looks fab & grand from the outside, but the rooms are dated and basic.
We have stayed here before. Good location and we had a nice meal
