We enjoyed Houghton and the hotel was perfect!
Pros:

I always stay at a Hampton Inn whenever possible when I travel. I appreciate the cleanliness and also the wonderful breakfasts.

Cons:

I would have appreciated more fresh fruit available at the breakfast. Whole fruit was available but the bananas were not ripe.

I love the balcony & the 7th floor lounge. Good location in Houghton especially with a water view.
Pros:

Weekend getaway for the 4th of July

Great location and extremely helpful staff
Pros:

Great location. Rooms were very nice and clean. The standout was the staff! They were extremely accommodating and made our stay very pleasant.

Very good hotel and location
Pros:

We stayed here in room 514 on 6/8 to 6/11/26 (3 nights). The room overlooks the canal and the loading area for the Ranger III ship. It is a nice view.
The room was clean, quiet and comfortable. It had a coffee maker, fridge and microwave and was good sized. The bathroom was large, had decent counterspace and good water pressure. The bathroom and closet share the same sliding door. There is a luggage rack and a built in spot for suitcases. The beds were comfortable, slightly on the firm side.
The A/C unit worked well and was not too noisy. Unfortunately, the thermostat has a motion sensor system, so it goes off while you sleep and the room gets warm.
The internet was good for email and web surfing.
The staff were all very helpful and friendly, especially the front desk and breakfast staff.
Breakfast has a good selection and the food was good.
Housekeeping is every 2 days unless you opt out of housekeeping.
The hotel is an easy walk to downtown and about 10/15 min. drive from the college and mineral museum.
The hotel has a pool and fitness room on the first 2 floors, the lobby is on floor 3.
The is parking on the side of and in back of the hotel.
There is also an inhouse restaurant and bar, The Observatory, on the 7th floor. We had dinner there one night (very good mussels and fettucine and a good Caesar salad), OK service and oddly for some reason they serve their diet colas flat (no carbonation).
We enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.
We really liked the hotel and would have rated it 5 stars but for the every other day housekeeping and motion sensor AC system.

No hot water. No heat in room, ask for help with heat and they put us in another room still with no heat or hot water

The breakfast choices were awesome, different each day
Pros:

We really enjoyed everything about this hotel. We had our own bedroom and our daughter thoroughly enjoyed her own ‘room’ it was quite large. The rooftop lounge was great too.
