BEWARE
Pros:

I wish I had paid attention to the reviews. This place is disgusting. The pool and outside are lovely but our room was a disgrace. Dirty, lots of mold, smelled mildew the moment we walked in. The food in the restaurant is barely passable. It is in the jungle with bugs everywhere. Broken bathroom window allowed in bugs. If I had it to do over I’d spend the extra and stay at the Miela.

Pros:

Not enogh personnell
Hot water for shower in cold days not warm
If you like something to eat out of regular meal time few offers and half what is in the menu is not available. Some days they do not change your towels. In cold days not enogh blankets. Air conditioner does not heat. You freeze in rooms. The floor in Building 6 always wet and humid. Employees make the minimun effort to help you. A real place where not return. Recomend you avoid this Hotel if you would.like to have a good time.

Mala Experiencia
Pros:

Friendly, helpful staff...beautiful location
Pros:

Let me just say the staff was great, friendly and very helpful. They were quick to help or get anything I needed, including my laundry.

The rooms are large but very basic. Ceramic tile floors. The bathrooms are large but could use some upkeep. Each room has a balcony.

There is a pool, we didn't use it but I looked pretty clean.. every morning they had someone out cleaning the pool area.

They have a buffet for both breakfast and dinner.

Great location in the middle of the jungle, even had an iguana walk past us on the path to our room.

It is a walk to any kind of services. Only close to other hotels and guaraní villages, which are a great experience.

If you don't want to walk the staff is extremely helpful in arranging transportation.

Frustrating hotel experience that could have been so much nicer
Pros:

We arrived at the hotel after midnight, the last destination on our two week vacation. We were excited about the "in the jungle" description when we booked the hotel, not minding an "off the beaten track" experience. Our first impression was of a place that looked worn out and neglected, perhaps faded from a former glory. Still, it had a lot of character and a charm we were attracted to. We walked down a dark path to our hotel room and discovered that the bathroom windows had been left open and the entire bathroom was covered in insects. These included drain flies, moths, cockroaches and many others, but most disturbingly, mosquitoes. Fortunately, they had not entered the main room in any great number, but you can imagine our tired selves trying to kill all these insects with thoughts of Zika in our minds (the airport had large signs warning specifically about this virus and several others).

After we killed as many as we could, we looked more carefully at the room. It was threadbare, containing the basics in a worn out way. There was no internet in the room (it turns out you need to go to the lobby to get connection). The bed was uncomfortable and to our disgust we found long hairs on the sheets, under the main blanket. My husband took his shower first. He was out within 5 minutes. When I went to take mine, there was no hot water left. We didn't get to sleep until about 1:30.

The next morning I spoke to the hotel desk about all these concerns. They said we could choose another room, but I quickly discovered they were all the same. We asked for a complete bed linen change and left explicit instructions for the cleaning staff to leave the windows closed when finished. This rectified the first two main problems. There was nothing to do about the internet. We could live with that as our data using Claro was sufficient. The hotel water was the worst of it to me. There was a 1/4 sized hot water heart shared between at least two rooms (not sure if more were drawing from the same one or not). It was only enough if you were the first person in the set of rooms to take a shower. After that, warm water was hit or miss.

The two other areas of disappointment were the pools and the breakfast. The breakfast was complimentary, but consisted only of cold foods . . . primarily sugary pastries, ham and cheese. The ham and cheese are pretty standard in Argentina, but their quality was low. The rest of the breakfast was sub par, when compared to many of the other hotels we have stayed at in the country. The pools (one for kids and one deeper) were frustrating. They were obviously beautiful when designed/first built. However, when we were there they were only half filled and had may leaves floating in them. There was no smell of chlorine or salt. The staff insisted (I asked several different people over our 4 day/5 night stay) that it was fine for swimming and was completely healthy/safe. I couldn't bring myself to go in and saw no one else do so, even though the weather was about 30 C each day.

In the end, we were frustrated and disappointed because we paid a fair amount for our reservation (there were definitely cheaper options available) expecting to swim, have clean, insect free, nicely appointed rooms and a less stressful experience. I think what made it worse is that all around you saw the potential for quality neglected and gone to waste.

Positives? The staff was friendly and greeted us with a smile. The location was excellent in terms of getting to the attractions in all 3 countries and it met our need for something away from the highway and city noises.

Nice staff but that is it
Pros:

This hotel is not close to town. about a 30 minute walk in part on the side of a highway. The hotel itself is pretty basic! We had 1 glass in our room and no fridge. i chair in the room. The jungle that the hotel is located in has a mouldy smell that is probably typical of a jungle location. No WIFI in the rooms but there is one in the lobby. Staff are very helpful and cooperative. We ordered packed lunches from the hotel for our tour of the falls. The town of Puerto Iguazu is pretty basic.

Staff good accommodation not so good!
Pros:

Starting with the good - the staff were pleasant and helpful; the meals were good considering how inexpensive they were; and the wifi good despite only being available in the main building.
The not so good - the accommodation was very poor; glass doors leading to a bare patio that did not close properly and could not be locked; no security for valuables; beds could be better especially bed linen which looked rather used; spartan furnishings - a plastic chair in addition to the beds; mould across ceiling which probably let to the unpleasant odour; lack of comfortable 'lounge' area if one did not wish to sit on verandah with mosquitoes and other insects - we used the dining area to access our laptop/iPad. There were other issues but minor in the overall picture.
Unfortunately I would NOT recommend this hotel.

Disaster!
Pros:

What an ending to an otherwise fabulous holiday in South America.. we arrived late at night to grumpy service at the desk! We had to drag our cases along a bumpy trail at 3 in the morning to our rooms located quite a distance away from the main lobby only to find that there was no lift to the first floor!! Loaded with suitcases filled with shopping this was a real interesting challenge. The room were terrible, musty and the less said about the cleanliness and linen the better! We were all bitten by bugs by the morning, but decided that the trip to the Falls would make up for the experience! Breakfast was limited and cold and there were no staff to deal with any requests. When we finally knocked and entered the kitchen area.. we were duly scolded and shooed away. An attitude that continued till we checked out.. when we were unceremoniously told to leave our rooms early, in order to accommodate the next set of guests.. seriously.. with all the choices in a tourist destination like Iguazu, and right next door to this hotel.. I am still at a loss as to why this one was chosen :(

Exotic location
Pros:

Sol Cataratas makes a good choice for travellers who are willing to stay a bit further from the main road and get a taste of the "jungle" (selva). However, this means you don't have much of a choice when it comes to dinner - you either buy something on ypur way back, either eat what the hotel can offer.
Rooms are not in the main building, but in several bungallows scattered across the premises, which in theory means to have a bit of privacy. There are plenty of trees and bushes and there was even a banana tree in front of our bungalow. Our room was spacious and clean, with a large balcony facing the selva. Upon arrival, I was thrilled we had a hammock in the balcony and imagined I would spend the evening in it, but as soon as it got dark, it was "occupied" by insects (and please forget about leaving a window open to get some fresh air in - if you ar an European not used to... large insects). Bathroom was really clean and had an amazing amount of toiletries (for a 3-star hotel). The hotel has a small outdoors swimming pool, but if you plan on using it in the evening, make sure you take the mosquito repellent with you, as they attack fiercely.
Breakfast was a bit disappointing, as most items were either sweet, either sweetened. Except for the cheese and butter (which we ate with sweet bread), there isn't much to choose from - but plenty of pastry, fruit yogurt, sweet cereals. Coffee wasn't much either.
The staff spoke very good English and was helpful - but keep in mind that when you inquire about transportation to either of the parks, they recommend taxis and argue against taking buses.

Absolutely not!!!!!
Pros:

I agree w/Lisa S. This place is horrible at best. It was my 2nd trip to the Falls so I knew of the city center area and had expected to stay there. Unfortunately I ended up at Sol Cataratas. First it's in a "jungle" environment close to NOTHING that you could walk to. Told there was a restaurant/bar. No restaurant, except for breakfast, bar closed at 9;30pm.This Argentina, nothing closes at 9:30pm. Even the Gift shops in town stay open 'til 11:30pm.
Room had a patio w/one chair but, no table. There was ONE plastic cup in the entire room. I guess that's so they could store the sink plug in it!!!! Imagine going to brush your teeth and that's what you find in the ONLY cup available!
Skip this place and go to Centre Cuidad!!!

Worse than HORRIBLE, TERRIBLE
Pros:

Any traveler would agree a lock on the door is expected at any hotel. Clearly not the case at this "place". Three rooms later we still could not get a room with doors that locked...in the forest with no phone working in the mold filled room to call the front desk because apparently that would be an amenity too. There is no wifi in the room so you are left to walk back and forth with your belongings begging for assistance. As we sat in the lobby getting wifi access waiting for another room option we stumbled upon the real reviews of the place and were so HORRIFIED. I am so sorry I did not bother because a travel agent booked it and was also unaware. The real review was written by a woman who stayed a year before, she was RIGHT about everything except for us no smell of fresh paint any where just MOLD. The place stinks STAY AWAY. We were able to get to another hotel with locks on the door.

Enjoyable jungle stay
Pros:

We enjoyed our time at Sol Cataratas and wish we had stayed longer. The jungle setting provided atmosphere and we found the restaurant on site provided good meals and enjoyed our interaction with the serving staff (despite our lack of Spanish). The hotel was a base for us and we were picked up and dropped off on the tours we did though a walk into town isn't excessive and neither were taxi's if required. The hotel was clean and while we didn't manage to use the pool it appeared inviting. Our only negative was a noisy door to our ensuite

Okay.
Pros:

We went to see the falls not spend time in the hotel, so it served our needs as it is clean and not expensive. Staff was nice, and overall we had a nice time there. Good value for the price, would recommend.

Good hotel in inconvenient location
Pros:

We stayed here in October, 2012, as part of a package. Excellent value for the price. The room was simple but fine for our needs, the grounds splendid with rooms in separate small buildings scattered through the semi-jungle. Lovely pool in a beautiful setting. Helpful and friendly staff, not much language difficulty. Breakfast acceptable to good. Location is fairly remote, so we felt that after a day of sightseeing we didn't want to trek or taxi into town for a restaurant, and the dinner service was limited. Overall, we'd stay here again, but if making plans on our own might seek something in town.

Good mid-range option
Pros:

As other reviewers have said, this is pretty much a place to sleep only. There is a lovely pool if you do have leisure time, but the hotel is really inconveniently far from town.

The room I had was clean and functional, with a TV, miniature fridge, good aircon, hairdryer and complimentary shampoo, conditioner and small soaps. Towels varied from 5 to one, depending on the housekeeper's mood, I imagine. There was also a desk and chair and some rooms had hammocks on their patios. The 'safe' is a silly little box in the wardrobe, hardly bigger than my reading glasses' case! It's completely useless.

Breakfast is very basic, unless you like lots and lots of sweet breads and pastries. On only one morning of the three did we get some ham and cheese, but there was fruit salad and fresh orange juice every day.

Dinner choices are limited and aren't haute cuisine by any stretch of the imagination, but adequate if you don't fancy traipsing in to town. The prices are also ok, and a bit lower than I would have expected at a hotel.

The staff are very friendly and kind.

The big drawback of this hotel for me is that the WiFi ONLY works in the reception area, which is very far from all the rooms. It doesn't even work next to the pool that is a stone's throw from the dining area. This means you are obliged to sit in the dining area with the ceiling fans blowing gales to keep the insects away from the tables, or on the patio where you get eaten alive by the mosquitoes because there are no fans blowing them away! It is so annoying that it made me give them an 'average' rating rather than 'very good'. I'm sure it can be remedied very easily if management had the will. Some other hotels had such strong WiFi that I picked it up outside in the bus while waiting for other passengers - why can't Sol Cataratas just upgrade theirs?

Overall it's an alright place for a few nights.

#1-Empfehlung für Cataratasbesuch v. argent. Seite
Pros:

Hidden Gem - Amazing Staff
Pros:

Its set a 15 min walk from "downtown" Iguazu. In a quiet jungle setting.
The rooms are basic, but have everything you need. Safe, TV, Airconditioning, clean room, great pool area, and amazing service.

The staff was trilingual (french, english, spanish), and very accomodating.

Keep in mind this is a hotel in a small town in argentina. If you want a piece of Argentina, while still getting all the basics to be comfortable, then this is the place for you.

Incredible value for the price!
