Comfortable stay with easy walking access to town for restaurants and to visit the gorge, which is a must.
Pros:

Location is good and walkable to the Cataract Gorge, which is fabulous and highly recommend.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was huge and the only criticism is hoovering of the carpet, especially around the edges could have been better. Everything else was clean.

Cons:

The lift wasn’t working, but staff did help to carry suitcases up to our room. They were in the process of getting it fixed. Staff will carry suitcases up and down for you.

The property oozes old world charm, spaciousness and comfort and is a short walk to the CBD. The communal verandah and sitting room were a real bonus.

Cons:

At the time we were there the lift was not fully operational, however on arrival and departure James, our host, was most helpful with luggage.

Pros:

Auldington is within walking distance to the city centre. Plenty of parking space. The reception staff were very helpful and knowledgeable of sights and eateries in the local area. The room was spacious, quiet and catered for all we needed with a fridge , kettle, microwave and crockery. A lovely touch with supplies of drinks, chips, chocolates. Had a wonderful view from the balcony. Would highly recommend a stay.

Cons:

Although we found no fault with the cleanliness of the bed linen, bathroom and kitchen areas, we felt the standard of cleaning could be improved. Concentrating on all the minor aspects of cleaning doors, dusting, scrubbing shower cubicle grouting would make all the difference to meeting the hotel's 4.5 star rating.

Unkept, Unserviced and completely mis advertised

The property is utterly misrepresented, it’s no where close to four stars. As someone who never books below a booking.com rating of 8, I’m in shock that such a poorly maintained and dirty property has been allowed to gain such a ranking. Our room had peeling and bubbling paint on the walls, chipped paint on all the windowsills, splatter marks in the bathroom and a quite disgusting toilet brush on display. The lift was broken and we were on the third floor with no warning before arrival along with the aircon only being usable of the whole building wanted to be cooled and we were suggested to open a window. We were made so uncomfortable by the room, we were unable to stay and checked out just an hour later. As you leave or enter you will be greeted with piles of dirty laundry bags in the hallway. We make sure to book property’s with specific facilities and of good reputation, this property had neither.

- Gratis Parkplatz vor dem Hotel.
- Das Hotel liegt sehr nah an der Innenstadt und durch die Hanglage hat man einen tollen Blick auf Launceston.
- Das Gebäude ist sehr schön mit einem schön angelegten Garten.
- Unser Zimmer war auch sehr schön (u.a. mit einem großen Balkon und einer vollen Minibar).
- Das Personal war sehr freundlich.

Cons:

- Der Aufzug hat leider nicht funktioniert - und das Treppenhaus ist eher eng (waren im 2. Stock).
- Zu den beiden Hauptsehenswürdigkeiten (Cataract Gorge und City Park) ist es zu Fuß schon je eine halbe Stunde.

Great location and friendly staff

The location was great. The room and bed were comfortable. The staff were very accommodating and helpful, giving suggestions for dining and exploring.
