Close to the city and very nice stay for the evening
Staff very helpful
It was convenient for the bus and the local pub which was where we ate dinner as the restaurant has closed on site.
It was very tired, shabby and hot. The £15 parking on site was unexpected and unwelcome.
Yeah very helpful
Location.
Getting wi fi to work, checking fridges are working, and properly defrosted.
Clean lounge windowsills, and repair rusty leaking radiator control, in bathroom.
Schönes Hotel. Etwas vom Stadtkern entfernt aber dennoch gut gelegen. Das Pub gegenüber ist super.
We loved it and our room was amazing... 25 minutes walk to town and you have.a riverside option. Breakfast was great.
Little bit in need of a decor update.
rooms great, staff very helpful just a nice place
Whenever I think of York, this is always the hotel that comes to mind. Its historic character, nostalgic atmosphere, and the charming archway you walk through from the car park to the hotel always remind me of scenes from a novel with hidden passageways and mysterious connections.
I stayed here around New Year’s last year, and this time I returned to York for a summer shopping trip. Once again, I chose this hotel because it has some of the friendliest and most welcoming staff I’ve ever met.
This was my third stay, and once again everything was excellent. I left just as satisfied as on my previous visits. If I return to York in the future, I already know exactly where I’ll be staying.
Have stayed here three times before so knew what to expect.
Breakfast is good but the service very slow - even at 0730 when service starts. I'd had cereal, coffee and toast and was leaving before I was asked if I wanted anything cooked. The breakfast is good but the service is understaffed.
The restaurant is now closed - for me a real negative - I was told on checking in. Asked for a booking at the pub across the road but that was not made.
I don't want to have to pay for taxis into York centre or be tied to the pub, good food but very busy and noisy.
everything
nothing to dislike
The hotel has character. Its an attractive 18th century building. All the rooms are different so makes a pleadant change from bland, corporate offerings. Decent breakfast.
The bathrooms could do with some renovation.
Breakfast was very good. We had plenty of fans in the room to help keep cool. The iron and ironing board were very useful. The location is the main reason for our choice.
Our room was up 2 flights of stairs. The second is quite narrow. The member of staff did offer to carry our bags up though but we declined.
