An elegant period building with lovely greenery, quiet location, with lovely riverside walking into York. Very good staff - polite and professional. Loved our room on 3rd floor at back of property.

Cons:

Nothing really. Pity they don’t serve evening meals, but good bar.

One night stay
Pros:

The bed was comfortable - the room was a decent size. Breakfast staff were friendly and the breakfast was tasty ( although half a black pudding disc seems a bit stingy)! Bar staff were friendly - making a special drink on request. It was quiet and the outside areas were very nice.

Cons:

I didn't like the fact that as soon as you walk in there is a sign blaming Westminster for rising costs (?) meaning that lunch has been stopped. Lots of things are more expensive and not necessarily Westminster's fault - plus do people really need reminding.. You could reduce costs by not leaving the lights on in. the rooms once they've been cleaned and waiting for guests. This is also more environmentally friendly. I think the £15 parking fee for residents (which is ridiculous )must also help with costs. We were there for a funeral and got a room cheaper on than the reduced rate offered to the other funeral goers.

Pros:

Proximity to city centre

Cons:

Whole room needed a re furb. . Bathroom very old and in need of tlc. Tv didn’t work in the room.
Not able to get a meal at evening time in the hotel so had to find somewhere to eat out. Had to pay £15 per night to park my car in the hotel car park, why???
