Clean, Basic, Good Price
Pros:

Hotel and facilities generally very clean, as was all the linen and towels.
Parking very cramped, you need to be very good to get anything bigger than a Mini parked.
Rooms small, but so was the price.
Good budget hotel, not for a long stay.

Confirmed Booking, But No Room Available
Pros:

I have secured a booking confirmation (and provided credit card information for no-show penalty) on ibis.com, yet when I arrived at the hotel the front desk said the hotel was full, and he had no idea about my booking record. When I showed my confirmation, this gentlemen said he cannot read English. I was stranded at this hotel at 2 a.m. with no alternatives provided by the hotel.

No one ever notified me for the possibility that my booking confirmation will not be honored before my arrival at Tianjin. The hotel manager called me at 9 a.m. the next day to "confirm" my booking for the night before.

Budget Hotel
Pros:

Booked the family room for a stopover in Tianjin.

Like:
- 20 mins drive from Tianjin Binhai International Airport (but it is hard to find a taxi which trunk can carry 2 pieces of luggages)
- close to railway and metro station
- close to Riverview Mall where there are many dining options and a nice supermarket
- spacious and low budget room
- hot tea served in the lobby

Dislike:
- room is a bit torn, there is a large piece of paint peeling off from the wall and the table was damaged
- noisy air conditioner
- wifi not working
- limited bathroom amenities, ie. toothbrush with paste, paper cups, soap and the shower gel plus shampoo is in a tube which needs to be squeezed out
- RMB100 for deposit but can get back without checking anything

You get what you pay
Pros:

The positives for this hotel are:
- a pretty low price
- close to the central train station
- clean towels
- reasonably fast internet

However, if you're used to 4 or 5 stars hotels (either Chinese or international) you may find this one repulsive.
- worn-out hallway with stained carpet to your room
- unpatched/unpainted walls/corners
- slightly beaten up furniture and floor
- questionable bathroom

Overall this hotel felt like a high-traffic, low budget, student dormitory which was not renovated since it opened 20 years ago, but only had occasional repairs. If you're on a tight budget - it'll still work, if you're looking for something nice - look somewhere else

Good value and handy location to subway
Pros:

Room was good size, clean and bright. We were on the 7th floor and although checkin is normally 2pm, we were able to access our room at 0930am.
Hotel is 6 minute walk to subway station, Line no. 9 and is one stop to the railway station for high speed train to Beijing, or train to Tianjin International Airport. Hotel offers complimentary half hourly daytime shuttles to the train station Monday to Friday.
Only downside is very limited English spoken by the staff, and no tourist information or maps available in any language.

Ok hotel with the worst breakfast and weak wifi
Pros:

The floor is wooden and is dusty. The room was ok. The breakfast was the worst breakfast not only was there little options the taste was bad. It makes me regret paying for the breakfast. I have been in 2 previous hotels from my trip, yiwu and shanghai compared to the breakfast of the two hotels the breakfast of IBIS was a joke. It is near metro station but it takes a while to walk to the hotel when you are carrying luggage is quite a struggle since they are repairing the road leading to the hotel from the metro station. There are no eateries and convenience stores nearby and the prices of beverages and water at the lobby was too expensive so was the restaurant besides the hotel. I have stayed at IBIS in tianwei and thought that this ibis was better because of the higher rating but this IBIS was below par compared even to normal hotels in China

Smelly Damp Bathroom
Pros:

Located 2 blocks from Line 9's Dawangzhuang station, or a 15 minute walk from the main railway station, the hotel sits is relative quiet surroundings in a working class neighbourhood. It springs into life in the morning with a lively street market just outside the main entrance and also at night, when thinly-dressed girls vy for massages through their ground-floor open windows. They don't come out to bother you though because it was too cold. There is a supermarket on the way to the metro station or you can buy a bottle of water at the hotel for 3 yuan. I got some name cards for prostitution services stuffed beneath my door one night. A smell of cigarette smoke greets you at reception, but staff are efficient to get you on the way. The room is a standard ibis just like any other city although the bathroom has been poorly maintained with a nasty damp smell. Despite 10C daytime highs and night-time lows near freezing, the blanket provided was thin and the heating has been turned off for the season. They need to do some urgent maintenance on the bathroom. Taxi to the airport costed 50 yuan and the journey took 20 minutes in light traffic.

A little out of the way but a nice hotel
Pros:

I arrived after midnight, after a delayed flight from Wuhan. It was a delight to find this comfortable hotel, which is a little out of the way but quiet residential area. However, some new riverside developments will bring restaurants and shops closeby. A trusted international brand, it enables some small comforts with foreign language TV channels not normally found in hotels in this price range.

Terrible
Pros:

This hotel is the worst Ibis Hotel I ever stayed.
Rooms and all areas are very dirty, staff is rude and the facilities are terrible.
No wifi in the room as mentioned on IBIS standards. The reception provides a router for 100 RMB deposit.
Breakfast very dirty and messy.

So so
Pros:

Some problems appears with the smell in bathroom (mustiness, humidity), we change the room and another problem appears - smell from cigarettes. There're many "No Smoking" signs in the hotel, but somehow smell all over the place (rooms, hall, even in elevator). Breakfast was Chinese style with abit of croissants :) Nevertheless, it was quit in the room and 199RMB per night works.

And yes, no English speaking person @ front desk. We talk using Google translator :(

IBIS Tianjin Railway Station
Pros:

Clean and friendly, room was spacious and bathroom more than adequate, extremely good value for the money. Breakfast for a westerner was ok, toast, muesli and coffee, but a full Chinese breakfast buffet. I would definitely stay there again.

Big room, weird Location
Pros:

Although it is called ibis Tianjin Station, it is not close to the Station. It is about 15 mins of walking distance (1 bus stop) from the train station. It is strangely located on the edge of a slum(having that almost all Chinese railway stations are surrounded by poor neighborhoods) and a newly built Ritz Carlton which is right next to the river.

Rooms are big, and all have big couches inside. Windows are big too, which could provide you with good views of the city (despite the pollution of northern China). But all the rooms have very strong smell of cigarettes(I'm not sure if they have non-smoking rooms). But if you open the window and keep the ac on, the smell can go away.

Boring neighborhood and Bad Heating
Pros:

Arrived at the hotel lobby, only to be greeted by a freezing cold lobby. Apparently the heating was out of order and with the only wifi available in the lobby, it was a pain to hang around the lobby for more than 10 minutes. Only redeeming factor was the polite and courteous staff at the front counter. However, the staff turned down our request to call a cab on our behalf, citing that Ibis does not offer such a service. I mean, how hard is it to call a cab? There was no other way out of the dreadfully boring and drab vicinity the hotel is located in, and quite impossible to hail a cab out in the freezing cold. So the only dinner option was a Chinese restaurant located in a building that is connected to the hotel. The food there was cheap and edible, RMB180 for 4 of us. Breakfast at the hotel was simple fare, eggs and toast and some veggies and other carbohydrate options. Mineral water can be bought from the front desk in the lobby. Even though it is a non-smoking hotel, the local Chinese guests were obviously chugging away at their ciggies and we had to put a wet towel at the bottom of the main door to prevent the smoke from coming into our room.

All this being said, for the economical price of this hotel, Ibis did serve its basic function.

business stay at Ibis
Pros:

Very good value for money.Staff is helpful and kind. Front office staff very helpful. Some problem to convey a message in English,as most of the staff do not understand English. If one needs to have a dinner at the hotel on the ground floor, check and confirm the rates before placing the order.Or you may be overcharged by the cashier.

Not even up to the Ibis standard
Pros:

The hotel was relatively new but the condition of the room and bathroom was shocking. Big enough room with wide windows. But when we arrived, the floor was dusty and sticky. The bathroom and sink, downright dirty. It was as if someone had just checked out and the housekeeping gave the cleaning a miss. The bed was hard and bed sheet was spotty. Staff speak limited English. The receptionist even insisted on charging us half day rate for checking out 15 minutes past the normal check out time. Thank God for a gentleman who clarified the whole situation with a smile and gave us some tips on the city. Location wise, it's situated next to a busy street with lots of taxis passing by. Hailing one is a different matter though.

Tianjin - a good place to stay
Pros:

IBIS Tianjin is a good hotel to stay in. The rooms are larger than most IBIS hotels and this was good. It is within walking distance to the main shopping street and of course the railway station but buses are also available. There are good restaurants nearby particularly the one about 100 meters behind the hotel.
