Hotel Tugu Malang

Highly recommended hotel in Malang! Great center location, love love love the antique and all other arts and furniture collections in and around the hotel!
Breakfast buffet was immense, staff all are friendly, and Spa services were great.

This hotel has exceptional charm and character as well as the friendliest staff I can recall experiencing.

From the moment you arrive you are greeted with charm and hospitality and this continued with all the staff during our stay. This is always a great relief as a same sex couple.

The numerous restaurants are all exceptional with the main restaurant having the most extensive menu. We ate there daily as there was always new things to descover.

The hotel is a huge colonial museum really of Chinese, Dutch and Javanese relics. It rained a bit so hanging out in the hotel when it did was a pleasure.

You can walk to everything there is to do in Malang (which is not a lot as Malang is more of a springboard for day trips). The hotel is one of the towns main attractions; a destination in itself.

Het is een prachtig hotel en tegelijk een museum. Het is ongelooflijk wat voor mooie kunstwerken er allemaal staan. Het personeel is supervriendelijk. Voor het ontbijt is er een overvloedige keuze, ook voor de lunch en het diner.
Ons verblijf was een zeer aangename ervaring.

Hotel Tugu has a great location, just a 6-minute walk from the train station. The property is large, full of character, with a lovely garden and a swimming pool. The pool water is quite cold, which makes it refreshing on hot days.
Our room was spacious and comfortable, though a bit dark, with only one window without the view. The bed was great, the bathroom nice, but the shower pressure could be stronger.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. Complimentary breakfast was fantastic – à la carte with plenty of choice, and everything we tried was delicious. We also appreciated the packed breakfast for our early tour, as well as the complimentary afternoon tea with Indonesian snacks.
We also tried the massage (very good and still affordable) and had an excellent meal at the neighboring Saigonese restaurant.
Overall, a very pleasant stay with great service and one of the best breakfasts we had in Indonesia.

Hotel centralissimo che merita 5 stelle per il servizio,il personale e la pulizia … ma è fuori categoria per gli arredi, le opere d’arte e gli oggetti d’antiquariato che contiene , un vero museo da visitare e scoprire giorno per giorno. Complimenti!!

Parfait

Superbe séjour dans ce bel hôtel TUGU, de l’accueil parfait aux nombreux services, spa, petit déjeuner, bar et restaurants. Personnel très agréable et professionnel.
De plus l’accès en 5mn à la gare et l’hôtel idéalement situé en plein centre et à quelques minutes des principales visites de Malang.

We very much enjoyed our stay at Hotel Tugu Malang. The building is unique and gorgeous, and filled with very interesting decorations and artifacts. They offer a free guided tour of the hotel to explain some of the history about these decorations and artifacts. The staff is very attentive, the rooms are nice and have character, the hotel is environmentally conscious, and the food is excellent. The hotel is in the center of Malang and within walking distance of things to see such as Kajoetangan Heritage Village.

We loved the hotel. The vibe of the hotel is beautiful. The staff super helpful and nice. The food is absolutely amazing and was our favorite!

Amazing hotel in comfort, location.facilities ,food and ambience. Private art collection of the owner on display is amazing. Restaurants onsite serve such an variety of food that we ate in hotel every day. We loved it so much that we extended our stay. Staff go above and beyond their duties to help. Everyone is always smiling from management to the gardener. Special shout out to Anita at reception. Do not forget to have their complimentary afternoon tea. Walking distance to most sights in Malang. If you intend to do the Bromo sunrise tour they provide an wonderful breakfast with variety to take with you

We really enjoyed our 2 night stay in Hotel Tugu Malang. All staff are exceptionally well trained and friendly. Both mornings we had the Chinese breakfast - one of our best hotel breakfasts ever - great fruit platters, dim sums and main courses. We had lunch (gato gato) in Cafe Malati and dinners in both restaurants- Malaya and Saigonsan - the food, service and atmosphere was excellent in all instances. We also went on the hotel tour of their art and antiques as well as spending time on our own. The hotel filled with this art in lots of different physical spaces is what if really special. We loved everything about this hotel.

ホテルの人の英語が流暢で、外国人でも過ごしやすい。ホテルの中の見学だけでもちょっとした観光になるくらい荘厳な雰囲気。
朝食付きのプランを選んだが、渡されたメニューにオプション金額が書いてあり、システムの説明もなかったため、別料金と勘違いして食べ損ねた。

We stayed here with our family in 2023. I should have written a review of this hotel sooner -unfortunately, I didn't- but here it is at last.

In short: this hotel is fantastic and radiates a truly unique, almost fairytale-like atmosphere.
It’s a beautiful old white building, situated on a large roundabout. The front garden features majestic trees and is beautifully lit in the evenings. The reception staff were very friendly. The hotel rooms we stayed in were wonderfully decorated, each in its own authentic style. The hotel itself has several spacious rooms filled with interesting items — it feels like walking through a museum.

At the heart of the hotel is a swimming pool, surrounded by a restaurant where breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served. It’s an atmospheric spot, thanks in part to the lush greenery. There are also other restaurants in the hotel, all of them excellent.

During our stay, we took part in a cooking workshop on the estate, where we prepared authentic Indonesian dishes. The setting, with its tall and beautiful trees, was so memorable that one of the photos is still the background on my phone. During the workshop, we got to know a few members of the staff better. They were incredibly kind and warm-hearted. We talked about Indonesia and family life, wonderful conversations.

For me, saying goodbye was kind of emotional to be honest.

Emplacement top : 5 min de la gare à pieds, hôtel magnifique, on ne sait pas si on est dans un musée ou un hôtel.
J’ai essayé 2 restaurants de l’hôtel, les 2 était parfaits. Petit déjeuné top !
Massages au spa très bien.
La chambre (j’avais la moins chère de l’hôtel) était décevante : fenêtre donnant sur un mur, chambre petite.

This is a distinctive and delightful hotel. The food is exceptional - beautifully presented, fresh, delicious, inventive. The dining areas are charming with different moods and styles ranging from grand to intimate. The service is excellent - attentive, natural, charming and friendly. The complimentary tea with cakes and local delicacies, served from 4pm to 6pm in the refined and comfortable first floor tea room, is not to be missed. Walking along the corridors and exploring the many interconnecting rooms with their astonishing collections of antiques and collectibles is a dreamlike pleasure. The on-site bakery shop and gift shop are both very good. Our suite had both a private courtyard garden and a large balcony overlooking the central Alun-Alun park with lotus ponds, mature trees and city life. Special !

Super mooi hotel! Schoon, heel goed Indonesische eten en vriendelijk personeel. Ook het zwembad is heerlijk. In de middag heb je een koffie/thee moment met lekkere Indonesische gebakjes.
Er is aan elk detail gedacht in dit hotel en de aankleding is prachtig. Niet twijfelen maar boeken.

The hotel is very old worldly with all the facilities. The staff were very helpful and the food fantastic. The cultural areas were interesting with antiques and old photos. The hotel is central and the double glazed windows and door stopped most of the noise.

Incredible staff. Couldn’t have done more for us. The ambience of the hotel is relaxing and welcoming. Couldn’t recommend enough.
