Staff repeatedly described as friendly and helpful/attentive; however understaffing caused slow service at the bar and breakfast on several occasions.
Location
8.8
Strong positive sentiment: quiet countryside setting, good position and convenient for nearby points (including airport).
Room Quality
5.8
Mixed: many rooms described as dated with worn carpets, tired baths and maintenance issues, though some recently renovated/deluxe rooms were praised.

Mixed amenities: car park, bar and dining areas praised; issues reported with TV, noisy fridge, broken coffee machine and occasional lack of staff to run facilities.
Value for Money
7.7
Generally seen as good value by several guests; some noted price reflected the property's current condition, while upgraded rooms considered worth the extra.

6
Mixed: Asian dining and some dinners received praise, but breakfast quality was inconsistent (undercooked eggs, slow replenishing) and coffee machine issues were noted.
Overall Experience
6.6
Overall mixed impressions: friendly staff and renovation progress are positives, but dated facilities, cleanliness and staffing problems temper guest experience.

Pros:

I liked the cleanless and shower.

Cons:

Very disappointing stay, especially considering the price we paid. The information on Booking.com was misleading: parking charged £6, and the pet fee was stated as £15 per pet, yet we were charged £25 per dog (£50 in total, almost equivalent of the room price). Staff were rude when we questioned the charges. Our Genius benefit included free late check-out, but we were asked to pay another £25.

The “king-size” bed was actually two single beds pushed together. The hotel is next to busy road, so it was pretty loud. Breakfast was very poor, with a solid poached egg, bacon cooked on what appeared to be a dirty grill, and very limited choice.

Overall, poor value for money, unexpected charges and disappointing service. We would not stay here again.

Fantastic staff, welcoming, great breakfast
Pros:

The staff here were exceptional right from the start, really friendly, super helpful and kind.
The pub evening meal was as expected, good value for money, generous portions.
Breakfast was really good, plenty of options and again very helpful and friendly. It was my sisters birthday and they brought out a treat for her at breakfast which we weren’t expecting.

Cons:

It’s true as other reviews have said, the place is a little tired but you can see improvements have started. Our bed was clean and comfy, bathroom was clean. I’d booked 2 double rooms and a family room so we were given some complimentary little bottles of wine as an upgrade in one which was lovely, the three rooms cost just over £300 for 7 of us, including the breakfast. I’d say that’s pretty good value and reflects that the new owners are working on bringing the place up to a higher standard.
