Everything was as expected, including the little breakfast area. Coffee and selections were fine - nothing special, but nice to be included for the price. Parking was fine. Not a big location, but again - I knew the area and all that; so it was exactly what I needed and paid for. The front desk persons were friendly and asked how I was doing each day when they saw me and one of the guys had a couple of suggestions on places to hit and places to miss. Good ole East TX hospitality!
Ok! The one thing that made this WHOLE trip disappointing and super uncomfortable was: I had been out from about 1:30pm to 6pm on Saturday - I got back and entered my room to immediately discover that someone had been IN my room and smoking pot! I could smell it immediately and was pissed. I searched my room quickly to see if anything had been messed with or removed or see if any evidence had been left behind (I was a police officer for 8 years in Dallas) other than just the smoke smell. I went straight down to the front desk to report the issue. I was changed to a new room, so I went back up and packed up and moved. I didn't throw a fit, I didn't even demand a refund - I just wanted to make sure I was NOT charged for this, since I do NOT smoke pot! When you check into a hotel room, there is to be a fair amount of TRUST that is instilled between the staff that works in a hotel and the guests that stay in a hotel. I worked for The Ritz-Carlton for 10 years; and would have been APPALLED as a front desk clerk if someone had reported this to me. I did then notice after check out that i had in fact been charged $250! I was going to call and complain, but then noticed that it was pending in my account to be returned - therefore I did not call nor complain. But I do want to report this, as it was a disappointing stay on my end. And this is the reason why.
Not a lot of breakfast options.
