Aged Grace
Pros:

The hotel is located in the newer part of the town, downhill from the centre. The approach to the hotel is rather inauspicious, with unevenly tarred ramp, crumbling masonry in the lido part of the building and signs of decay on the sides. Once inside, the décor is very sumptuous and impressive, with magnificent cornices and ceiling freezes.

The hotel provides free shuttle to/from the railway station that needs to be booked in advance.

The guy at the reception desk was friendly but slow and a little unreliable: he failed to book our return shuttle and late check-out that he’d kindly agreed to. Female receptionists, on the other hand, were super efficient and friendly.

The lifts most certainly need renovation as they are both look worn out.

Our Deluxe Double Room on the first floor benefitted from balcony, albeit looking all rusty and worn out. It was of standard size with open wardrobe, strangely situated at the back, and a large comfortable bed.

There was a Safety box and bottled water was provided in the fridge.

WiFi signal was good. TV had a variety of foreign-speaking programmes, English included.

Bathroom was cramped with a steep step inside representing serious health & safety hazard. Walk-in shower was very tight and water pressure low.

Breakfast, served in the huge room on the lido part of the hotel, was above average: good selection of breads, cold meats, hot dishes, cheeses and fruit.

This hotel has certainly very serious potential but requires quite a significant investment. It would be real shame if all those lovely features were lost.

Absolutely wonderful
Pros:

Our room was modernized, but felt very authentic at the same time. It was quiet and comfortable and spotless. I thoroughly enjoyed breakfast and all the wheat stuff and we got a ride from the train station.

Cons:

The water kettle was plastic. Aside from that absolutely nothing everything was perfect.

Very elegant room
Pros:

Fancy hotel, in the grand European hotel tradition. Our room was massive, with a walk in closet, no less! The bed was very comfortable. I loved the layout of the room, as there was a foyer area with a bench to put on your shoes. Very nice. The bathroom fixtures were older style, and you have to be careful not to spray water all over if using the hand shower. The tub is enormous. The view from the nook in the room is spectacular.
