Disappointing, but the staff made a huge positive difference in our stay.
Pros:

We like the decor and the location. Dining on the rooftop was great and the food was delicious. The customer service was superior. Every staff person from the people who help with our luggage, the front desk staff, and managers, especially Jimmy, was very understanding of our situation. They were the saving grace for our stay there. The bar products were good. To make up for the room, Jimmy did not charge us for the bar incidentals.

Cons:

The room was very small for two people-my sister and me. The room didn’t have enough drawer space. The only drawers were the end tables. The desk was very small. A better use for that desk space would have been a vanity with drawers. There were no hooks or adequate towel racks to hang towels and washcloths. The chain lock on the door was broke. Even though we reported it upon arrival, it did not get fixed until the last night we were there. The door did not look like it was closed properly. You could see a gap in the door. We were very disappointed in the room, including the window view.

Cheap and convenient location with a lot of asterisk on it
Pros:

Location is great, super close to Javits, not far from Times Square. The parking associated with it wasn’t great or cheap but was more convenient than that of most hotels in the area. Rooftop bar was very nice, music was way too loud though.

Cons:

First day of booking was canceled due to late arrival even though I called ahead, apparently the message was not properly relaid as I was told it was. Because if this I had to wait half a day after arrival to get into my room.
Paper thin walls, could hear every single thing the people in rooms near mine were doing. WiFi was super slow and just straight up didn’t work sometimes.
Elevator was broken on my floor and I had to go to a different floor to use the elevator. On my two elevators (1 for half the stay due to maintenance) so there was always a long line to get into crowded elevators. Lobby was always overflowing with people waiting to go on tours or getting into rooms.

My main issue with the hotel is, after agreeing an upgrade cost by email I , they tried to charge me more, when I arrived and when we checked out! Also, I still haven't received the $250 security deposit, 4vweeks gone! Been in touch with the hotel by email, just told me to contact my bank. I've contacted my bank and raised a dispute. The hotel will nit help me retrieve this money, I honestly don't think I will ever see this money! We stayed in another hotel round the corner for one night, the deposit was received the next day! Why is this such an issue with The Sanctuary. Not God enough! If you're going to the Sanctuary, beware!!
