The staff were incredible. Eduardo the barman in the sports cafe does the best margaritas and has a heart of gold and in general all the staff went above and beyond
I have traveled extensively around the world and have never experienced anything like this in a hotel.
During my stay at Club Jandía Princess, a very serious security incident occurred. On March 10, while I was alone in my room and taking a shower, someone opened my door with a key card and entered. I did not see the person, but reception later confirmed through the key log that another key card accessed my room while my own key was already registered inside.
As a solo female traveler, realizing that someone was able to access my room while I was inside and vulnerable was absolutely terrifying.
What made the situation even worse was the reaction of the reception staff. When I reported the incident, the employees on duty dismissed the situation entirely. They repeatedly told me that if the system shows my key card, then it “must have been me” and refused to investigate further. They said there are no cameras to check and that I had “no proof.”
When I asked for their names and requested to speak to a manager, they refused to provide information and told me to “call the police” if I wanted to pursue the issue. While I was visibly upset and in tears, one of the staff members even showed me a middle finger across the reception desk and walked away.
Because of this, I spent the night barricading my door with furniture and sleeping with a knife from the restaurant under my pillow because I genuinely did not feel safe in the hotel.
The next day, when I tried to escalate the situation to management, I was again told that I had “no proof.” The employee who admitted to making the obscene gesture was still working at reception as if nothing had happened.
A hotel should be a place where guests feel safe. Instead, I left feeling shaken and completely unsupported.
If you are a solo female traveler, please be aware that when I reported a potential unauthorized entry into my room, the situation was dismissed and treated with hostility rather than concern.
