Don’t stay there on a Sunday or Monday, no breakfast, restaurant was closed and no Bar for drinks or entertainment, not even coffee, had to go to restaurants across the street, was very disappointed from our trip there before on a Friday night and Saturday
We just love this Place and the Staff. This was our 6th Stay over the last several years and a must visit if in Boonville. We make two to three trips a year for visits to Warm Springs Ranch(Budweiser Clydesdale Breeding Facility) traveling from Kentucky.
We feel like we are part of "the Fred" family. Have never been disappointed in any way. Holly and Staff always take great care of us and we love every little detail that's been put into the Hotel, Bar, Restaurant, and Speakeasy in the basement. Just a perfect mix of History and updates.
They continue to develop and fine tune the amenities, the Live music on the weekends in the beautiful Brick Room Rathskeller Bar, the coffee bar for Breakfast, the new antique and boutique off the lobby. The Restaurant has a nice offering and menu, and our favorite place to spend our time is the small, intimate bar off the lobby, "The Fred", great craft cocktails and offerings, the best Martini West of the Mississippi, Thanks "Gracie".
Look forward to our next visit and we thank everyone for their hospitality.
If you're a Mizzou parent struggling to find reasonably priced accommodations in Columbia during football weekends, consider staying at The Fred in nearby Boonville. I recently stayed there for Dad’s Weekend and couldn’t have been more pleased with the experience.
On our first night, my son joined us for dinner at the hotel’s excellent restaurant. Afterward, we drove back to Columbia for the evening’s activities. Upon returning, I made sure to check out the speakeasy in the basement—an absolute highlight with its cozy vibe and live music.
The next morning, my wife and I strolled along Main Street, enjoying the charm of locally owned shops. We even had the pleasure of meeting Holly, the owner of Hotel Frederick. She previously managed the hotel for years before purchasing it to run as a family business. Her passion for the property is evident in every detail.
The rooms are uniquely styled with 1920s flair, thoughtfully updated with modern touches. If you're expecting the luxury of the Waldorf Astoria or the Broadmoor, this may not be the place for you. But if you’re looking for a memorable, character-filled stay with:
* A great restaurant and bar on the main floor
* A speakeasy with live music on weekends
* An antique store right inside the hotel
* A classic town diner next door
* And the friendliest staff around
…then The Fred is your spot.
Hotel Frederick is now my go-to place when visiting my son at M-I-Z-Z-O-U!
Caveat - If you need perfect conditions for sleep, please bring ear plugs and a sleep mask. Personally, I need some low level noise to sleep, and I am up before the sun. If you are the opposite, the single pain windows and wood blinds do not create silent black out conditions.
The biggest issue: our room was disgustingly dirty. Have a look at the photo from the shower. The whole shower was like that with a thick layer of slime mold in each corner. Had not been scrubbed properly for weeks, maybe months. Made the mistake of trying to open a window. As I moved the blinds, which were broken and did not open properly, dust and dirt flew up everywhere from the windowsill and the blinds. The people at the front desk are dressed very casually. The man who checked us in was helpful but the woman who checked us out couldn't have cared less if we lived or died. No one asked how our stay was or I would have talked to them about the cleanliness of the room. Since they didn't bother (and did not follow up with an email request, either) I decided to post this review. The room was large and comfortable although it could have used a couple of more tables (only one bedside table was present). The dinner we had in the restaurant was very good (although the cleanliness of the room made me worry about the sanitation in the kitchen). Would not stay again.
Loved the character of the building, antiques, and proximity to shops. The A/C was working well on a very hot day.
But the water pressure was really low at sink and for the shower.
It was awesome to have a locked and secure room for our bikes.
We had a sibling gathering at this hotel and loved everything about our stay
Staff was great
Rooms were excellent for an historic hotel
Great room, very comfortable bed, super nice check-in service. Walkable to breakfast diner. Had a glitch with having paid for the room and hotel charging also; clerk attended to it immediately. Will check with credit card before we leave. I’d recommend.
For a historical hotel it was very nicely done! Room spacious and comfortable. Restaurant on site was very good as well.
We had no hot water in the room. We were informed by Lidiya that there was no one available to fix the problem until that evening. We had to attend a 7:00 am departure time to attend a graduation, and we could not take a shower before we left.
Old, needy renovations
Fantastic experience. Don’t miss it The history is worth the visit alone, but the staff, the restaurant and the location make it a must see for a special visit. Be sure to give it a try. If you are into cycling on the KATY trail, staying at Hotel Frederick is a no brainer.
It was an old hotel (1905) and has history in the Boonville area. Always intrigued about it. We were visiting relatives in Boonville and decided to stay at the historical place.
The dinner was good in the evening. No hot water in shower in the morning. They gave an adjustment on the bill. The place is old, but nice. They do need to put safety grab bars in the showers. It's on the Katy Trail and lots of bikers. Some pretty good places to venture to as the town is on the Missouri River with lots of history about.
This is such a cute boutique hotel with an amazing restaurant and speakeasy in it. The quaint creaking of the floors and the layout of the different rooms was great. Staff is friendly and they have a cat liaison to greet you. Comfortable & clean
This historic building is understandably quirky, but is also charming and comfortable, with modern conveniences.
Our 2-night stay was made extra-enjoyable by the very warm and welcoming staff.
The attached restaurant provided us with 2 excellent, delicious meals. (You must have the Bocanegra dessert!)
This is the perfect place from which to visit the Budweiser Clydesdales at nearby Warm Springs Ranch. We had 3 wonderful tours there.
Note: the included breakfast consists of coffee, juice, yogurt and packaged breakfast bars.
Friendly/Helpful staff. Room was clean, but mostly clear glass on wet room partition was a bit strange. Water pressure too weak.
pressure too
Very cool
Our third visit in a year, we just love the staff and accommodations. It's one of my favorite hotels, ever. The Bar and the restaurant are warm and welcoming. Any issues are dealt with personally, and in a timely fashion. Thanks for making such a historic, interesting place available. See you later this year.
It was quaint and lovely, so fun! We enjoyed the town and everything was great. The food was OMG so good and awesome music at the bar, great drinks and staff.
The Frederick hotel is an experience of past times. Nice staff and unique property.
