Perfect
Pros:

Great hotel next to parliment hence so much security.
Lovely room with balcony overlooking street which is quiet due to no cars.
100 meters from 5 different restaurants on etoile place. 300 meters from beirut souk. Ali organised an airport pickup for 28usd at 2am.
We stayed a week and khalid on breakfast was a perfect waiter.

Female travelers
Pros:

My friend and I stayed at this hotel and could not have been more grateful for the staff there. They did everything they could to make us feel comfortable and help us know the city. Jean-Jacques as the front desk was amazing, we asked him for reccomendations and he was genuinely excited to share his knowledge of the city and provided excellent recommendations. Everyone at the hotel was friendly and kind and did everything they could to help us feel welcome one Beriut. I cannot forget to mention the young man at breakfast I believe his name was Khalid he bent over backwards to help us. We were two female friends traveling and everyone at the hotel made us feel welcome. In regards to the location, I had read reviews about it being blocked off, it’s literally 20 feet from where the street. I am not sure why this is a problem for some people but it was no problem for us. It’s in the perfect part of down you can walk anywhere easily.

Good stay
Pros:

Good stay for a solo leisure visit to Beirut. Easy airport transfer with quick check in. Nice room, basic and quiet and very central location. Only downside is the breakfast is quite poor; but otherwise an excellent stay.

For certain preferences, the perfect spot
Pros:

We stayed at Etoile Suites in December, 2018 for 11 days. This hotel is not for everyone, but for us it was the perfect combination. Wonderful location, wonderful staff. Nice breakfast setting with outdoor view. Short walk to most places of interest in Beirut including the nearby souk. Our room was spacious--rooms vary in size. This was a secure area which includes the Parliament building--almost no automobiles for several square blocks with army check at points for the entry. Almost like visiting in the pre-automobile era. The hotel is small, the service quite warm and friendly--Jean Jacques made extra special efforts The area inside and outside the secure zone is one of the safest of the many cities we have visited. We walked almost every day and evening--the data show low street crime and also this also appears visually true. There were occasional festivals in the plaza a block up the street which were fun, but in our room the noise level, including the call to prayers, was low. There are entry steps, the building is older, the rooms vary in size, the taxis need to get through security. We loved it and look forward to return.

Pros:

Excellent hotel with very nice people working, you don't feel like a guest but more like you're at home. The location is also very convenient, everything is available around you.

Need to know before staying
Pros:

The staff were really friendly, especially haysam. The room size was good however they have an issue with the aircon not being able to be controlled from inside the room, you have to call reception to control the thermostat.
Mosque across the road: You need to be aware that there is a mosque across the road which broadcasts prayer 5 times a day including one at 4-5am in the morning. IT’S VERY LOUD.
Breakfast: don’t bother to get breakfast included, there is a restaurant on the rooftop which is not owned by the hotel but service the breakfast for the hotel who make a below average breakfast however a really good restaurant/cafe across the road as an alternative.

Great location
Pros:

Spacious rooms, some might say dated while others might find the floral wingback chairs charming. Great location. For breakfast, skip the grim, dusty restaurant on the 5th for somewhere close like Starbucks (in the souk), Dunkin Donuts (5min) or a nice street cafe. If you’re getting picked up for a tour, walk 50 meters to the main road as the roads into the hotel are blocked. Extremely safe and beautiful part of town. Would stay there again.

Hotel turned off the heat!
Pros:

I just came back from Beirut. I was interviewing with a local company which booked me into this hotel. My biggest issue was that they turned off the heat. I was freezing. I thought it was me. I put the temperature gauge in the room on max but nothing was working. In the middle of the night I called the reception. They sent someone up who turned the heat on from outside of the room! Essentially in the corridor! What a joke! Also my reservation "Buffet Breakfast Included". When I went to breakfast there was no buffet. However there was a waiter who asked me what I wanted to eat and gave me some options (no menu just spoken options). The food was fine but it was obviously not a buffet. It was 9am and I only saw 1 other person. I asked the waiter where is everybody and his response was that people sleep in... Second day, again only saw 2 people... Anyway, there are 2 positives. 1) The location is fantastic, 2) The area is very safe and was comfortable walking around any time.

Lovely Boutique Hotel - in the secure area which is now an empty ghost town
Pros:

This is a lovely hotel - centrally located and before the government put up security barriers and roving patrols of soldiers was probably a vibrant area. Now the restaurants are empty, stores have relocated and the area is so empty - it is eerie. I fell for the hotel as it is truly lovely, well kept, comfortable, great staff - but now in an area of no life and checks every time you leave the hotel. Cabs and tour operators cannot come to pick you up and it is very hard for them to park.

Good location but has some tricky issues
Pros:

Pros: good location in Downtown Beirut. walking distance to the Souks and the area. many restaurants and clubs around. good service

Cons: the price of the rooms compared to what you get is not good . the rooms are outdated, the bathrooms are low graded, old carpets and beds.
the balconies were nice and oversee some nice views of the downtown area.
You have to vallet park since the area is highly protected and no cars are allowed by the hotel ...so you have to drop the car ( if you are renting one) at the main security gate and get clearance to the area..

All in all it is ok .

Excellent Peaceful Location Not Far From the Action
Pros:

Etoile Suites is located smack dab in the middle of the government section of the capital of Lebanon, Beirut. There was a heavy military and police presence here but everything seemed to be otherwise normal. Etoile is near the modern souk district and is an easy walk from the seafront. There are restaurants nearby as well as the lovely Saint George's Orthodox Cathedral and the Clocktower. Etoile has an excellent staff led by John-Jacque who will not only fill you in on the history of Beirut but will make sure that your time there is comfortable and well spent. There is a breakfast area / bar on the top floor where outside and indoor seating is available. Rooms are spacious; maybe a bit dated; very clean and comfortable.

I Loved Everything About This Hotel
Pros:

I don't know what defines a Boutique hotel compared to a hotel?? Maybe I should google it haha! But in my mind this lovely little property is a Boutique hotel! There is a small reception desk always manned by a warm, friendly member of staff and then a lovely glass elevator takes you to your room, or should I say suite! The rooms are well appointed and generous in size, We were lucky enough to have 2 double French style doors that led out onto a charming balcony. The breakfast was extremely tasty and very very fresh!
We booked a lovely couple of days touring Lebanon via the hotel and were very impressed with the car and driver provided!
All in all I certainly would recommend this hotel to people who want to stay somewhere small, welcoming, comfortable and central, you will not be disappointed!

Not what we ordered
Pros:

Upon checking into the hotel, the room we requested, and that was confirmed by the hotel was not what I asked for. Instead of the two double beds that we requested, and that was confirmed by the hotel, we were given a King bed. This was especially inconvenient when it was two grown men in the room that were friends, not a couple. When this was pointed out to the staff upon arrival, they assured us that it would be fixed in the morning. It wasn't. For all 3 nights we stayed there, no effort was made to fix this, other then being offered a very uncomfortable cot that I wouldn't want a dog to stay on. When checking out, we were asked if we had a good stay, and I again pointed out this issue, nothing was done by the staff to even offer to subsidize their lack of follow through.
