We had chosen this hotel because it seemed to represent a nice break with the pool etc (at nearly £340 for 2 nights) given that we had travelled 4 hours to be in the area for a family funeral and the post funeral tea was also held in the hotel; it also accepted our dog.
Staff were helpful and worked well to solve problems quickly and without long discussion or debate. They provided fresh milk rather than the awful long life small pods.
The pool / changing rooms were clean
Free Wifi
The hotel is in need of some serious updating. It is outdated, tired and shoddy in parts and deeply disappointing re price per night - at £336 for 2 nights B&B. It was overpriced and overall the quality well below what I would expect.
- The form to be signed re your dog was out of date and incorrect (saying dogs were only allowed in the rooms and nowhere else in the hotel...how do they get to the room then!)
- The pool was out of operation the evening we arrived and the out of order sign remained until mid morning the next day, even though it was open the following morning
- Bar / restaurant staff seemed to be significantly understaffed with the person at the bar also checking people in for dinner ( we ate in the "lounge" because we had our dog). The seats / tables in the "lounge" are really not conducive to trying to eat at re the chair / table height. At times there was no one in the bar / restaurant when needed
- Breakfast hot drinks ( tea / coffee) were just vile - tepid and nasty
- The carpet in our room was stained and stains on the walls
- The shower sealant / shower door seal were just horrid
- Damage to the skirting boards
- Paint work shocking in quality
I took photos specifically because we have a dog and wanted it to be clear that the carpet stains & paintwork damage were already there. The Manager was however pleasant, helpful and showed me upgrade rooms; ironically one of them had a massive stain on the carpet that was several inches in diameter and worse than the room we were in!
£5 to buy a padlock for the pool changing room lockers. No option to use a padlock / leave a deposit. The only option was to leave the locker unlocked. The member of staff at the pool reception said it would be "ok" to leave possessions without locking it (!!) He did offer to look after my valuables in a drawer behind the desk - all very risky for the staff and quite a ridiculous state of affairs.
The location, staff and restaurant.
The towel rail in the room was very rusty. The pool was closed all evening due to sound bath and yet I booked this hotel so I could use the pool and jacuzzi. Was disappointed.
The staff were absolutely amazing, we were a group of 5 women who do a spa once a year, so we was a bit more lively than most of the customers but the staff absolutely loved it. Very helpful and attentive towards us. We had to switched rooms as we were all put at different ends of the hotel but this was sorted out straight away with no issue. Thanks for an amazing stay will see you again *****
Not much. Pool was nice and warm on the first day but jacuzzi was very foamy when being used. I didn’t use it as it looked horrible. The next day the pool
Was absolutely freezing so out 3 of our group off from using it, and the jacuzzi was not working.
We had a lovely stay at the hotel. Our room was spacious, spotless, and very comfortable. We also really enjoyed our dinner in the restaurant — the food was excellent, and the service was attentive and friendly.
The spa and gym facilities were another highlight. Both were clean, well‑maintained, and offered a great selection of equipment and amenities.
Overall, it was a very positive experience, and we would happily return.
The coffee machine at breakfast was causing a few issues.
The bed was comfortable, and it was extremely quiet.
The ceiling had slopes either side of the window and you had to duck under one to get to the mirror. The TV obscured looking in the mirror.
Coffee and tea etc were lacking and there were no extra pillows.
Really lovely whole thing was great
People taking kids into jacuzzi and steam rooms bit dangerous
Excellent location. Chose to stay here as near my daughter's home. Loved the gym, pool and jacuzzi. Staff were really lovely. Bed very comfortable. Definitely recommend this hotel.
The bar was a little expensive, however, I live in Spain where the food and drink are much cheaper. So difficult to compare. Really good though.
Good breakfast - value for money with rooms a good size
Bar area was very small with only a few seated areas so unable to stay in bar area after a meal.
Restrictive hours for children's swim which should be advertised at time of booking
Spa facilities are very clean and lovely, room was large and spacious for 3
Rooms were huge and fully equipped with everything you need
How well presented it was
Children in the pool at what I would consider a peak time for hotel users
