There is no lobby or any amenities at all! I waited for 30mins to get a key.
So run-down and old. This is not even a 2-star hotel but they advertised as 4-star!
I stayed here for a night. Check in and check out was smooth. Reception of the hotel is located on the 2nd floor but guards are there on the ground floor to help you with your luggage and all. I saw so many guests coming for check in but still nobody was there in the main lobby. Very quite. You will find a lot of shops on the lower floors of the hotel. It is a complete mall. You can find so many things over there. They do not have a swimming pool. If you are alone then you do not have many options to keep yourself busy except exploring the shops in the mall. I am a vegetarian person so I couldn't find anything for breakfast except rice. Overall it was an okay stay not very special.
Dear Empire Hotel Subang,
I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with a recent experience during my stay at your hotel.
On 10 July 2025, I reported that the water heater in my room was not working. A staff member named Fadhil came to attend the issue, but he was extremely rude and unprofessional. He refused to check the heater and instead told us to check it ourselves. He also used inappropriate language, saying:
"Tak pergi sekolah ke? Satu hotel ada heater, takkan la bilik kamu takde heater."
This behavior was very disrespectful and unacceptable. Additionally, I noticed that his appearance and behavior seemed unusual and suspicious—it raised concern that he may not have been in a proper condition to perform his duties. I sincerely hope this is not the case, but I believe it is important for the hotel to take this seriously and investigate the matter thoroughly.
Due to this situation, we had to go the whole day without using the water heater, and there were no clear instructions in the room on how to operate it. This, combined with the rude treatment, left a very negative impression—especially given the high price we paid for our stay.
I request that appropriate action be taken regarding this issue. All guests deserve respectful service and a safe, comfortable environment.
Third time staying in this hotel and i am.not charmed at all. We booked ywo rooms and checked in three ago. My parent's room had a cigarette smell but they said they are ok with it. Our room's tv and phone didnt work. We had to step out and get a housekeeper cleaning next door ti get a maintenance guy up. He came up not long after.
Couldnt do much with the tv. He used his personal phone's hotspot to connect to internet then left us with a different set of wifi login and password to set-up the tv on our own. Oh and he took away our telephone saying he'll be back with a working one. Three hours gone, we are still waiting.
Checking in was a breeze. Too breezy in fact, i had to ask about the breakfast we are entitled to. Yes, the breakfast is for two, came the reply. And where is it? She pointed to a dining outlet. What are the timing for breakfast? Golly! Arent this the standard info you give your guests upon check-in? She even gave incomplete info on the parking charges.
Stay away from this hotel. It was nice when we stayed here some years back. Now, the rooms are tired-lookin (probably like us, after a five hour drive) and the staff are really in need of training.
The property looks a bit tired
The hotel is too old
This was a great hotel years ago but time and a lack of investment even at a basic maintenance level have taken it's toll.
The walls are faded and the carpets stained in the communal areas.
In our room the TV was flat screen but ancient and the reception was poor making most channels unwatchable.
The shower cubicle wall was blistered and mouldy and the pedestal mixer for the sink was loose because the plywood base was rotten.
Pulling back the net curtains on the main window revealed extensive green algae so they were quickly closed.
The Empire has little to recommend it but may be worth a short stay if the price is right as the location is superb being close to 2 malls and Subang Jaya LRT & KTM.
Despite all this it still retains a nice if faded feel.
Can consider to refresh the room
Summarize
We recently stayed at your hotel on Boxing Day. While we were initially excited to return, our experience was unfortunately disappointing.
The room we were initially assigned was far below our expectations. It was not only unclean but also had significant maintenance issues, particularly in the bathroom. The noise level from the bathroom fixtures was excessive and the television reception was poor.
We were moved to a second room, but the conditions were similarly unsatisfactory. The bathroom walls were visibly dirty and moldy.
We believe that the quality of accommodations provided did not align with the price paid.
And oh the pillows are so thin. Even after folding it into 2, the cheapest pillow one can buy at a department store is thicker.
To exacerbate the situation, on our second night, we returned home to find a notice indicating scheduled electricity maintenance by TNB from 12 PM to 8 PM. Despite the expectation that essential services like air conditioning and emergency lighting would remain operational due to a generator backup, this was not the case.
The power outage extended beyond the scheduled timeframe, commencing at 11:45 PM and lasting until 12:30 AM. This occurred despite confirmation from TNB's hotline (15454) that no such maintenance was planned for the area.
The power outage affected critical services including service lifts, fire emergency lifts, corridor lighting, room lighting, and even telephone systems. This raises serious concerns about guest safety and emergency response capabilities, particularly in the event of a medical emergency or other unforeseen incident.
Furthermore, the power was unexpectedly cut off again around 5 AM, lasting for over 30 minutes, further disrupting our sleep and overall experience.
This experience falls significantly short of our expectations for a hotel stay. We strongly advise future guests to exercise caution and prepare for potential disruptions during their stay. Better yet choose other hotels.
Summary of Hotel Stay Experience
Our recent stay at your hotel during the Boxing Day period was unfortunately marred by several significant issues.
Room Conditions:
* Initial room was unclean and had maintenance problems.
* Second room had visible mold and dirt.
* Pillow quality was poor.
Power Outages:
* Unscheduled power outage from 11:45 PM to 12:30 AM.
* Additional power outage around 5 AM.
* Affected critical services like lifts, lighting, and phones.
* Raised concerns about guest safety and emergency response.
Overall, the quality of accommodations and services provided did not meet our expectations, especially considering the price point. We believe that significant improvements are necessary to ensure future guests have a satisfactory experience.
My Parents came to stay here for a few nights to attend my Graduation Convocation happening Nearby. Their Experience can be summarised with: Amazing Staff!! Great Location, Beautiful Rooms & Stunning Views.
They were Especially Grateful for the Amazing Service of:
Front Office Team: Ms Azza, Ms Anusha, Mr Gabriel, Mr William,
Breakfast Team, Housekeeping, Security Team.
Due to the fantastic Service they received they hope to always stay here in the upcoming Future!
We checked in late at 7.30pm. Given room 1504. Dropped the bags and left for dinner. Returned at 10.15pm and the air-condition was not working. Had to survive the night without AC. Called reception the next morning and they sent maintenance guy. He doesn't speak English. He got some equipment and started working on the pipes through the access panel in the ceiling. After 15 minutes, he signaled that it has been repaired by turning the system on. Less than 5 minutes later, the same fault showed and the AC set down. Called reception and they told us to pack and return to the reception for a room swop. The next room that was filled with cigarette stench. We promptly rejected the room and reception said there's no rooms available. Told us to return at 2pm. Came back at 2pm and was given room 1005, which was finally working. Reception has basically no knowledge of service recovery.
Cleanliness of the bed linen is kind of suspect. We think it has not been changed. Elevator is always crowded and painfully slow.
Only reason to book this hotel is because location is close to my office.
Very Bad breakfast, room condition need a renovation, lifts are very slow
Although this hotel could be considered a "budget" hotel (around $100 per night) I would expect more, especially as I stayed for more than 10 nights. The worst elements were on returning from breakfast in the hotel dining room I opened my room door to find an expanding river of water across the entrance. Apparently the air conditiong on that whole level (8) was having issues. The water was cleaned up in about 30 minutes after having to go to reception and explain the issue even though there is a phone within the room connected to reception which no one answered. My room was changed to a lower floor (6). On changing rooms, I noticed a letter in the office arrangement explaining about construction going on in the connected mall/shopping centre. On enquiring in person to the reception person I was told there was a wall being knocked down in the mall and I would only hear a bit of noise on level 6, and it was level 3 that would get most of the noise. The noise/vibration I experienced on level 6 sounded like a large jackhammer and then a large manual hammer banging away between about 10 pm through to about 1 am the next morning. Although there are worst situations organising/paying for etc. a holiday one usually hopes to relax/catch up on sleep. I could have changed hotels but choose to finish my booked stay at Empire Hotel. The morning after arriving late a cleaner assumed my gender and called me "Sir" twice even though I was wearing a dress. This might be a cultural/other mistake, but it made me feel uneasy and I didnt feel confident enough to correct the cleaner, but I aimed to avoid this cleaner the rest of my stay. There were other hotel staff members who I managed to develop a healthier rapport with. Use power points near the window/single lounge seat/right of t v (mainly local content choice on T V) at own risk as they appear damaged. There were signs of other general wear and tear but shouldn't cause major issues. I only ever ate breakfast in the hotel (otherwise easy access to various other choices in Nu Empire Shopping Gallery) which although not abundant or varied daily choices to eat/drink it was ample enough. If you need internet access ensure you can connect within 1-2 days on all devices, it took longer than three days on some devices. On a previous separate stay to this one there were also internet issues but can be sorted by going to reception and seeking help. Other than the above elements this stay was okay but try it out for yourself.
Accessible
The setback of this hotel are:
1) Room is using warm lights & too dim.
2) Rain shower only so likely to get your hair wet.
3) Difficult to adjust warm water by the tap (too sensitive).
4) Water Basin drainage is clogged & builds up water easily.
Overall, so-so hotel as it is slightly run-down. The good point is next to shopping mall.
Rating it 1 star is already too much. It deserved zero.
This hotel does not appear to take maintenance seriously and the hotel is in a sad state of disrepair. I was staying here about 7 years ago and compared to the current conditions, I was horrified.
As first impressions are always important, the toilet on the lobby level are in need of repairs. The windows in the bedroom were moldy. The bed skirting covers were dirty. Also, the safe in our room was not working and despite requesting it to be fixed several times, nothing happened and seems to have fallen on deaf ears.
Finally, dont bother with the breakfasts.
Does this hotel has a functioning management? The service was below average, ugly furniture especially in the coffeehouse. Which nutcase pick all the colours and arrangement? Is this a kindergarten? Attempting to be artsy but failed and laughable. Smelly carpet, very dirty window (when is the last window cleaning ever done?), the toiletries smell like expired, didnt dare to use it, lift very slow, phone not working, room very old and run down, parking look like haunted basement.
It said it had a pool and gym...but it does not. It is not well maintained.
Pros:
Free covered parking.
Next to Empire Shopping Gallery.
Walking distance to Subang Jaya LRT.
Free & strong wifi.
Cons:
Limited lifts to serve guests.
Mattress was hard and not comfortable.
Rundown furniture.
Lousy & limited choices breakfast, lunch & dinner buffet. Dull taste. Foods cold and was not quickly.
AC not functioning well.
No gym and swimming pool.
Very limited tv channels.
Missing remote tv.
