The full amount of the reservation must be paid at check-in.

For guests staying 6 nights or less, cleaning is upon request only and it will be a simple cleaning (only exchanging towels and collecting trash).
For guests staying 7 nights or more, in addition to a simple cleaning, a full room cleaning will be conducted once a week (bed-making and floor cleaning services included). Extra room cleaning can be arranged with fees upon request.

Additional charges apply for early check in before 15:00.

Charges apply for late check-outs. Late check-out between 11:00-13:00 costs 50% of the room charge. Late check-out after 13:00 costs 100% of room charge.


We will be carrying out renovation work on the lobby and courtyard as shown below.

Feeling like a local from day one
Pros:

The location was excellent, with supermarkets nearby. Restaurants everywhere and a stone’s throw to Yotsuya station. As I like walking it was a 40 minute stroll to Shinjuku Gyōen park and Shinjuku, and likewise in the opposite direction through Yotsuya to Chidori Gafuchi. Coffee facilities and water fountain in the lobby with afternoon refreshments were very welcoming. A nice cosy room to return to with a small balcony, so convenient to pop back to for a quick recharge after shopping with a small cooking area and washing machine. Shower and separate bath. Exceptionally welcoming staff, particularly Ann who humoured me with my creaky Japanese and helped me with my final day’s transport.

Cons:

There was nothing l disliked, however the building is a converted ‘mansion’ or apartment building, with some fixtures showing slight signs of aging. There was a slight musty smell in my lounge but easily remedied with the breeze and open balcony door. Notwithstanding this minor point, l will definitely try to book here on a future visit!

Aus dem Abfluss hat es schlecht gerochen und überhaupt war das Badezimmer etwas komisch. Wie eine Kapsel die man ins Zimmer gebaut hat.

Pros:

We really liked The Retreat, however we were there a week and the coffee machine was broken for half our stay. An alternative should have been provided. The washing machine in the room was very handy. The room wasn't big but bigger than many Japanese hotel rooms. We enjoyed our stay overall and would stay again.

Great staff, refreshed lounge area and convenient location.
Pros:

Great amenities, and the common lounge and happy hour services made up for the size of the room, which was normal for a Japanese hotel. The staff were great and helpful. I had prescription glasses delivered to the hotel and I received it in time with no issue. I liked how you could choose your level of attentiveness with the housekeeping, which would be low for us. The area has large hotels in the area but the neighborhood still offers a residential feel and calmness after a day of exploring. Stumbled into some great places for food and gifts. There’s even a climbing gym next door.

Cons:

The room was very nice and smartly appointed complete with a/c-heater, washer/dryer and a kitchenette. There’s no getting around that floor space is at a premium. Even more hooks on the walls would be recommendation.

Stood at this location because of the washer accessibility to find out it took three hours to wash a load. The found mold in the bathroom.
