The hotel is in a residential area (unusual for a hotel). It has a few parking spaces in front and a small parking lot in the inner courtyard. The rooms are large and spacious. The bathroom is okay and clean. The carpet in the room is quite worn. The rooms on the upper floor have a balcony, while the ground floor rooms have access to an inner courtyard (perfect for smokers). The pool is quite small, and the rubber lining was wrinkled.
A few major downsides: it was very difficult to communicate in English at the reception! The second downside is breakfast: plenty of fruit, but the rest of the dishes were limited in variety: only omelette, sausages, and wieners, a few types of cheese, and yogurt. For a 4-star location, this is too little. We arrived for breakfast on the first day at 9:10, and the food was almost gone, with no replenishments despite breakfast being served until 10:30 on weekends. What bothered me the most was the attitude of the lady who seemed to be the manager; she refused to serve a couple who arrived for breakfast at 10:15. She closed the door and drew the curtain. For dinner, the menu options were limited and expensive. We ordered a dish, they came back and proposed something else, then returned and proposed yet another option. As a result, we ate in the city for the rest of our stay.
Okej ställe . Poolen var väldigt kall. Står 25grader men det var den verkligen inte . Gymmet va ingen höjdare
The room (an appartmant) ws large enough. But the bed is uncomfotable, safe and hair dryer did not work. Breakfest was ok, a normal continental. But the dinner is overpriced, especially if a half-pension. Do not buy that!
The lokation was fair for my purpose.
The hotel operates two reception desk, and I had to go always to the other one....
We were in a room with a balcony so had a fantastic view. The beds are extremely comfortable and the room was extremely spacious. The hotel didn't do pick up as Hotels.com suggested but taxi fares are cheap in the city.
The most disappointing aspect was the food. We arrived at the dining room 1 hour before closing time & were told this is all we have left, which was not much & some of the food looked tired and kept less than hot. We were still charged the full restaurant price for this.
Although there was a good selection for breakfast, it lacked quality and was more school canteen than 4 * hotel.
On the plus side we received excellent service from the reception staff. Our TV box in our room did not work and despite the receptionist's best efforts, he could not get it working.
Loved having the pool & spa facilities but even here there were problems. The steam room was never effective. The Finnish sauna was fine.
Overall I would give this a 3 out of 5.
Good for sports, has tennis and squash. The wellness part is very weak. Out of 5 souna two were working, the jakuzzi is very small, one pool for swimming not for play. Breakfast is in three stars level at most. The rooms are wide and clean
Nothing really seems friendly here. The breakfast is soulless, staff didn’t seem happy working here. Rooms jaded and slightly scruffy large in size difficult to control temperature of. Wi-fi seems ok. Layout is odd. Good for sports pool looked nice. Long way from town centre. I’ll try somewhere else next time
The main problem was: it has 3 stars and 4 stars room, that we didn't see at booking, therefore we have to pay upcharge to 4 stars room....
The hotel is an excellent business and wellness hotel. The room was huge and tidy, there were a shower and also a bathtub, toilet was separated. Thers is a small balcony with a sight to the city center of Pécs. Wellness area is awesome.
The room was extremely hot and it was not possible to decrease the temperature, also not with the help of staff. There was no wifi connection at all in the evening, noone knew why. Wellness was too crowded, there were too many people inside. Breaskfast was poor, it was almost like continental type. Dinner was nice but I waited 1 and a half hour for the food and it was incredible expensive.
Sajnálatos, hogy az oldalon nem szerepelt, hogy a hotel bár 4*-os, a szobák egy része 3*-os. Ez némi csalódást okozott, de ez nem a hotel, hanem a Hotels.com. hibája.
We stayed in the 4-star section of the hotel with my friend, so this review is about that part.
First of all, the room we had was huge, and it also had a balcony, which must be great during the summer.
All the receptionists and the staff in the restaurant during breakfast were very kind and helpful.
However, as for the cleaning staff, I couldn't say that they were on top of their jobs. Our room wasn't the cleanest I've ever seen, and we had to separately ask either the cleaning staff or the receptionist to provide more shower gel and toilet paper - apparently, the cleaning staff didn't notice when things were running out from our room. Yes, it's a minor thing, but honestly, I don't really feel like dealing with details of housekeeping when I'm on vacation - I can deal with housekeeping at home.
As for food, we only had our breakfasts in the hotel. The food was good, although my friend - who follows a special diet - would have preferred if the items on the breakfast buffet were labelled (if not with allergen info then at least with names). Also, when things were running out from the breakfast buffet, they weren't always replaced, or at least not in a timely manner.
I can't really write about the wellness section of the hotel - every time we peeked down into the pool area, there was a baby swimming session going on, so we didn't feel like going down into the middle of that. (I'm not even sure if that would have been allowed. We noticed a timetable at the reception, advertising the hours of baby swimming, but I don't know if the pool area was accessible for "regular" users during those time. Anyway, I didn't ask. And in the end, I was fine without doing the wellness bits.)
All in all, it's an average hotel with a much better than average staff (except for cleaning), it's nice for a few days but I wouldn't go out of my way to deliberately come back.
Bof !
We had a very nice stay in hotel Makar Sport in Pécs Hungary. We were so much better off than colleagues who stayed in downtown hotels without air-conditioning and much walking to the conference in the University of Pecs. Good breakfast with five! types of sausage. If only the Hungarians could learn to make a descent cup of americano ...
Piscine sauna hamam ... et surtout l’accueil merci encore
This hotel defines itself as 4-Star and the plaque on its wall declares it publicly. We were given a room next to a teenage basketball team members, though there were enough vacancies elsewhere at the hotel. Toward 01:00 AM we had to call the hotel reception due to constant and excessive noise from the team rooms. Our room was last furnished in the 60s-70s with an old tube TV. NO shower gel, shampoo, etc (4-Star, yes?!) but a soap dispenser. We discussed it upon leaving in the morning, and the response was: "well, YOUR room was a 3-Star one!". Appalling! The room we reserved was a Standard room in a 4-Star hotel according to hotels.com.
Nice modern hotel, good room, free breakfast was good, lots of stairs & long walk to our room. We just stayed one night so didnt use the sport facilities but they looked great.
We spent only a night there, but as we realized, it's a nice hotel with many possibilities for sports and/or relaxing. My room was absolutely great, we were satisfied with the food (dinner at the restaurant, which closes at 21:30, and the breakfast) and the service too. We'll come back for sure! ;)
I slept here for a night in a room in the attached building. Bed was rather good. The wellness-area is surprisingly good compared to what I would expect. The place was very clean all around. Receptionist was kind and professional. Breakfast was OK (I never had a great breakfast in Hungary, so my expectations were not high). Actually a positive surprise considering that in the middle of November very few guests come. Yes, there is an indoor squash next to the breakfast room but it did not bother me at all.
