Hotel Santa Maria Inn

I only stayed here one night but it was a great experience. I had to check in very late due to my flight. The staff was very attentive to me and always kept in touch with me while I was in my way for my check in. It seems like a wonderful family business and I can tell they truly care about their hotel. I was so grateful for the beautiful view when I had breakfast. The breakfast was there waiting for me at the time I requested! They even reminded me. I could tell it was homemade authentic food. Thank you so much for making me feel right at home since this was my very first time coming to Costa Rica. I cannot wait to return!!

Period blood in my dirty bed upon arrival. Full of bugs. And straight up a weird place.

Arriving after midnight I made reservations after viewing one of the advantages was airport shuttle. They did NOT provide this service arrived in an Uber and call the telephone numbers on the front gate, bang on the door no response finally the Uber driver called and someone came and o oh en the door. Only to reply we have NO Iingormation from Expedia. Disappointed, reserved three days but left after just two NO refund. We lost an night but still paid for it. It was worth it as we left happier. Just two steps and that’s being generous

Felt like entering jail as seen from street, with high gated fence, electrified barbed wires, several video cameras.
room was clean with many beds for all of us. Good for the price.

They don’t offer airport shuttle service, this needs to be removed from their page stating they do. This definitely is not the place to go if your looking for comfort. I woke up covered in bedbugs bites..I would not stay here again.

No airport shuttle, air conditioner didn’t work, no hot water in sink in our first room. Stayed on our way through and again coming back home. Not safe area to walk to restaurants but was able to use Uber eats and Uber to the airport and bus station. Close to airport so that was good. Hotel owner was a great help and very friendly.

Pro: close to airport. Con: everything else. Also, place has bugs. Not sure what type but we all woke up with bug bites everywhere. Would not stay here again.

This hotel is in a nice neighborhood in the foothills above the airport. Very tranquil setting with a garden and parking.very secure . The host makes sure your stay is comfortable.

This was a very basic Tico Inn. Our flight arrived late and after picking up our rental car we were less than two miles from Santa Maria. We had both emailed to prepare staff for late arrival and then called upon landing. We arrived and staff opened the gate within 5 minutes of ringing their bell. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good including fruit plate, eggs, sausage and toast served on an outdoor patio/garden with hummingbirds feeding on the pretty foliage. As I initially said, it is basic, but for the price, it was a safe convenient place to stay.

The shower knobs were hard to turn. At least the water was hot.
They advertise free cont. bfst but there was nothing not even any coffee made; I had to make my own coffee and this area was dirty. People had eaten pizza the night before and just left the empty box there.
I had told the guy that checked me in the night before that I would need an airport shuttle which they advertise as free. He acted stunned like no one ever asks for it but he didn't say it could not be done.
I was in the lobby at 9:30am and there was no one at the desk. Finally a woman wanders in that works there and I tell her I've booked the shuttle. She knew nothing about it. The guy didn't tell her. Thank goodness she was able to find someone who took me.
The customer service here is horrible. The staff just doesn't care😟

The hotel was lovely, though we were there for a quick sleep before an early morning flight. Expedia dropped the ball for the third time in our Costa Rica experience and didn't actually book our reservation. Luckily the hotel let us in the closed gate and found a room for us. It is off the beaten path and we had a little bit of a struggle finding it. We found a tourist bus parked and asked for help; he escorted us.

I had to wait nearly 10 minutes in the street to be let in, then was told that there was no shuttle to the airport and I would have to pay for a taxi, then I found a cockroach in the hallway, a variety of insects in the room, and to cap it all, a bed without pillows.

My room had a number of issues that were not individually horrible but they added up! The staff was extremely nice and seemed to care for my well being. That is always nice! Super close to the aiport and my room was economical.

We waited 40 minutes for someone to let us in the gate. There were holes in the door, windows with no glass, toilet dirty. One good thing-- breakfast was good!

The lady was nice and helpful. It was in a residential area so it was a weird location. The key was hard to get into the room. You have to knock in order to get into the yard so that was not a good look for me. Overall it was a decent stay for the price. Not expensive so You cant expect anything spectacular.

A little remote if you haven’t got a car. No shops or restaurants on road. No English spoken, trying to confirm the free taxi to the airport 24 hrs before arrival proved a problem.
