Overall the Alghero Resort is not bad, it is just passed its heyday and needs some serious maintenance: Driving up the country road leading up to the resort, following an almost makeshift sign with construction fence on the left partially covered with tattered tarp already made a not-so-good impression. The overall grounds look neglected: The grass and plants have not been tended to, the tennis courts also look dated. Actually, there are no longer two tennis courts, but just one, the other one has been turned into apartments, but the floodlights and green floor remain, giving the area a patched up impression. A number of cats roam the property which was great for the kids.
The rooms were OK (i.e. clean and quiet enough for us and the AC was fine too), although one should not look too closely at the shower stall. The windows of the bedroom under the roof were covered with a makeshift kind of blinds taped with scotch tape. The Wifi was very weak and kept disconnecting.
At breakfast, we were disappointed because of the limited variety and that things were constantly running out. We had to ask for essentials such as salt, butter or coffee. After a while, it felt tedious and uncomfortable asking the staff to fill up the buffet all the time. The staff was nice enough, though.
Another disappointment was the absence of the gym which has been turned into a spa area. Unfortunately, the presence of a gym had been marked on one of the major booking websites and had actually been one of the reasons we chose this resort in the first place.
Overall, the Alghero Resort seems to be relying on old reviews while not keeping up with current standards when it comes to 4-star lodging, which is very likely to disappoint future guests. The place has a lot of potential but it needs some serious TLC. If the Alghero Resort were categorized as a 3-star and priced accordingly, it would’ve been fine but with a 4-star rating and at the rates they charge, it likely falls short of many people's expectations.
Recomendable
Good. But the main course (roast beef) was a sad thing…
It's situated in countryside a few kilometres outside of the beautiful city of Alghero. It's a bit different from usual hotels, in the sense that it has more of a rustic, farmhouse feel. Our room was pleasant, again not the generic hotel style, but with old style furniture, shutters on window and so on. Bed and bathroom/shower were fine.
There is a nice pool area, nice shaded area under trees for when direct sunshine gets too much.
Breakfast is good, tasty pastries, hams, cheeses, homemade cakes and so on. The evening dinner is a set menu. 30 euros for 3 courses. It is limited, it doesn't offer choice. However on the evenings we ate here it was very good home style cooking.
Being a bit of a distance outside of the city you would need transport. Hired car, or the staff will happily book taxi for you. It's 15 euros in a taxi into town.
Activities can be arranged at the hotel. Jeep safari, horse riding, sailboat trip. Tennis courts looked good. There is a small spa, we booked massage treatments and they were wonderful.
Throughout our stay all of the staff were extremely kind and pleasant.
All in all a very enjoyable week. If modern luxury hotels are your thing this probably won't be for you. But for a relaxing, rustic week we had a very nice stay.
Breakfast was below average. There was no notice that the restaurant was closed that evening. We booked 2 beds which was confirmed on your booking however there was only one bed
Dejlig hyggelig rolig hotel
My friend and I stayed here on a Sardinian road trip and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Only 8 minutes drive to the centre of town, it’s in the countryside surrounded by horse stables, farms and olive groves. It’s very rustic and the rooms are quite basic, but the beds are comfortable, the shower strong and a/c good. Breakfast is very good and the dinner, if you choose to have it excellent. The staff are outstanding, welcoming, friendly and so knowledgeable…we’d return just for them especially the receptionists and lovely breakfast team. An oasis feeling but so close to town !
Nice room, good service, excellent breakfast and dinner, nice swimming pool. Lots of wellness facilities. The hotel is on the outskirts of Alghero, so the city centre is within easy reach. A beautiful old town with lots of little shops. The harbour is lively and has lots of day trips on the water or a visit to the caves of Neptune by boat to offer. Nice relaxing stay.
Esperienza positiva ottima accoglienza e gentilezza
Terza esperienza e terza valutazione positiva.
Personale gentilissimo e super disponibile.
Stanza spaziosa, confortevole e pulita.
Colazione molto buona e varia.
Posto molto molto bello.
Beautiful location not far from Alghero but felt so peaceful and secluded. Friendly staff and comfortable bed
Charming country hotel less than 10 minutes from downtown Alghero but you feel like you are in the middle of a farm estate. Lovely pool and a very delicious breakfast buffet to go along with a super-friendly staff and a very comfy bed. Oh, did I mention they have a tennis court? So bring your racquet with you.
We were told that our room was a double upgrade! I dread to think what the basic rooms look like. The room smelt musty and was dark. The decor looks very tired in the rooms and round the hotel. Breakfast is pretty plain and nothing to get up for. The dining area has a rough concrete floor which is impossible to clean. Why they could not tile the area to make it look more attractive is a mystery. We did not stay for dinner but the price for a fixed menu was quite expensive and the dining area was not welcoming. The staff work hard to please the guests. Please note that the hotel is quite some distance from Alghero town.
We stayed here 8 days in August.
Positive : Nice garden and pool. 2 very good tennis courts. Friendly people in the staff.
Not so positive : We payed for a superior room (2person) but the room did not look like a superior room at all . 1378 for 8 nights (offer) Much too expensive for this room. Small and need for refurbishment. Breakfast slow. Too few people working at the breakfast. Extremely numbers of wasps and flies around the table.
The hotel is located 5 min drive from Alghero. You need a car for the stay.
Nice site but slow , expensive and need for refurbishment.
