We made the stay a good one as we were with family, and it was amazing to be together.
Pros:

The hotel is lovely, very well appointed and stylish. The food is good, we had lunch, then dinner at night time. All good quality. Breakfast was good the following morning.
The staff on the restaurant side were, professional and very helpful, whilst being friendly. Good front of house training.

Cons:

On our arrival there is no obvious area to check-in, we were shown to the far end of the bar, which was very busy. It would appear that only the manager could complete check-in and he was very adjateted and short of polite conversation. Not at all a pleasant experience for guests.
Surely a designated area away from a busy bar could be found to use as a check-in area in a hotel that charges £221 pounds per night for a room. Also perhaps a course on customer care would be in order for the staff in that area.
The room was comfortable and spacious, however there are a few points of maintenance required within the room we had, just general things, for example pealing paint, on the walls, dying plants in the room. These are the little things that make a good hotel, become an exceptional one.
Overall if I was giving a score out of 10 I would say 6. Due to the attitude we experienced with the staff at the bar area/check-in side. A smile costs nothing.

Exceptional food - dinner and breakfast - very reasonable prices. Normally you'd pay the same for standard pub fare, but this was way beyond that quality-wise. Really friendly and helpful staff, beautiful rooms and situation. A real find!
