Beklentimden çok daha iyi çıktı gayet temiz bir odaydı ve kliması çok iyi çalışıyordu. Bulunduğu konum gece farklı tiplerle doluyor ama tehlikeli bir ortam değil.
Breakfast is not provided, but Deniz is located in the midst of a busy shopping district. A couple blocks away, Cypress is one of many upscale areas (which has limited early breakfast fare because Turkish shops open later), but a traditional lentil soup, kumla (tomato cheese chickpea bread sandwich), Turkish coffee or tea is available for less than 4 American dollars. One can stay quite inexpensively at Deniz -- if you look for hotel accommodations it will be triple the cost.
When traveling alone, I don't need my room cleaned very often, so I'm probably unlike other travelers. A twice weekly cleaning would be better than a weekly one, but if you need clean towels or other items, the staff will accommodate you. Spanish is the cleaning staff's second language after Turkish, but since I'm fluent in Spanish, it was easier.
As compared with other accommodations in Turkiye, a pensayon offers a basic bed, desk, bath, tv and wifi for a very, very reasonable price. Breakfast is not included; however, dozens of local cafes and restaurants offer breakfasts for less than $5. Deniz Pensayon is a few hundred meters from the Alsancak train station, light rail, a short walk to the Izmir boats; all of which can be accessed with an Izban card (less than a dollar for a ride to the airport by train).
The directions to Deniz. Even though Google maps shows the location, it's not clear that Deniz's entrance is a stairway up to what Americans call the second floor. Inside, once you're upstairs, there's a small elevator taking you to your room, so it isn't a problem except for those people with disabilities. But there is only a 2' x 2' small neon entrance to announce it's location, so that's my biggest suggestion.
Breakfast is not provided. There are numerous cafes and restaurants within a hundred meters of Deniz. You can eat a pretty decent breakfast for less than $5. Deniz's location enabled me to visit several attractions within short walking distance: a train museum in the Alsancak station, a separate historic train museum (also free) next to the post office, the Ataturk museum (free), and a special exhibit of Miro of the Miro foundation's Portuguese collection (about $5 admission). One of the main shopping districts (Cypress Street) is close by. The big bazaar (hundreds of stores) is about a 10 minute light rail ride and a slightly more expensive Karsikaya (sp?) shopping district is accessible by a short 20 minute (or less) ferry ride. (I loaded an Izban card with plenty of lira, but I think that it was less than $2 for the ride).
Nothing worth noting.
Horrible , sucia , escaleras que no se pueden subir maleta , peligro de caerse por inclinadas ,elevador sin puerta . Peligro que alguien sufrs accidente , cama horrible Mal olor . No pude dormir en toda la noche
Excellent location, friendly stuff, clean room.
- Lift only from 3rd floor
- Last floor also only accessible by stairs, no lift
- Not suitable for people with limited mobility
- Room change only with surcharge
- Stench in the room and toilet, unbearable
- Windows surrounded by pigeons, bird noise
- The best thing about this accommodation is the lively and central neighbourhood, if that's what you're after
Location was perfect, near the train station. Receptionists were helpful, nice value for money, meets basic expectations
air conditioner wasn’t working properly, on the last day they changed our room but we slept in a hot room for 2 days! cleaning was bad also, probably our bed sheets and towels weren’t changed before us, they put only 1 toilet paper for 2 people staying 3 days. We had to go and ask for a toilet paper ourselves!
Very dirty room, urine stains on toilet seat
They charged me twice for two nights. I paid online in expedia.com. When I checked in the staff told me they got no money from expedia.com, and they didn't let me in until I paid two nights in advice.
A dirty hotel that is used as a cheap brothel by the locals, surrounding streets full of transvestites looking for men, not safe to go out late here alone.
