Fantastic location, just a short walk to the city centre. Friendly, helpful staff. Bedroom/bathroom lovely and clean. Bed was extra comfortable!
Large, comfortable room.
Easy walking distance to the Minster and city core.
Easy walking distance from the train station. The hotel offered the directions from the train station in advance.
The staff were friendly and helpful without exception.
We ate dinner at the hotel one night. It was one of the best meals on our trip. Colleen had a window alcove table all set up for us. It was a quiet, restful and wonderful dinner.
I booked the room to include breakfast, and got the notification afterward that if we wanted a hot breakfast there would be an extra charge. The continental buffet was fine for us, but no other hotel we stayed at in the UK charged extra for a full breakfast.
Fantastic location, easy access from main roads (without having to drive through town), right near where we needed to be and a short walk from the main sights of York. Handy on-site parking out the back. Good communication from the hotel before we arrived, so we knew exactly where we needed to get to (as parking is accessed from another street). Room was cosy, clean and had what we needed, with comfy beds. The staff we met were all lovely and helpful and always greeted us with such warmth.
The central heating came on at specific times for the whole building and, whilst we could turn this down in the room, it was stifling hot in the corridors (obviously some people like that, but it's not great when you have to carry bags up several flights of stairs!).
Whilst the room was very clean, the bathroom needed a bit of attention, with mould in the shower and a broken light, but this was minor and overall very happy with the room.
Location was great and the most friendly staff!!
Bed comfortable and room and bathroom clean
Parking option although at a price was good
Some areas were a bit tired and main communal areas ie stairs there was cobwebs on curtains/windows
Breakfast menu complicated - could be better set out . The way the menu was laid out could be improved
We went for cooked and it was £14 for cooked option only - seemed expensive when you take into account room price too .
very nice
none
Great location
We were on the top floor, but in fairness it was a very very late booking.
The hospitality, location, and staff were amazing.

Breakfast excellent. Room excellent. Very clean. Staff very friendly and helpful. Location quiet and easy to access York centre. Can't fault this hotel. Would recommend to anyone
Everything perfect
I didn’t like how the sauna and hot tub wasn’t included in the stay
This place is an absolute gem! I would never have known about it at all, but we went for a hen weekend in York, and the maid of honour found it. I'm glad she did!
My room was fabulously comfy - squishy carpet, cozy bed with loads of cushions, big heavy curtains to keep it dark at night, toasty warm, lovely clean ensuite bathroom... I felt very at home!
Hedley House is less than 10 minutes walk from the train station, just across the river, and tucked down a quiet and unassuming side street, so once you're done exploring or partying, you can come back to some proper peace and quiet. In the opposite direction, there's a great pub literally at the end of the road with a wood-fired pizza oven in the garden, and you're only about another 5-10 minutes from the centre and all the main attractions
I forgot my toothbrush and was immediately gifted one by the reception staff (eco-friendly bamboo one which made my hippy heart happy!) Staff seemed genuine, outgoing and helpful. They also held on to my bag all day after I checked out until I came to fetch it at gone 9pm, which was an absolute godsend
I didn't get a chance to try the hot tub, sauna or yoga facilities, but the garden out back looked lovely through my window. We also went to a cafe for our breakfast so can't give any details, but it smelled good when we got up in the morning. I would absolutely stay here again and give all these facilities a try next time.
There's nothing I didn't like, per se, however I think it's worth knowing before booking that this hotel is in a converted row of beautiful Victorian terraced town houses, which means LOADS of stairs. For anyone with a mobility issue or disability I'd definitely recommend contacting the hotel before booking so you can hash out your accessibility plans (staff all seemed really approachable so I'm sure they'd do their best to help). I'd include anyone with asthma and COPD for this too... Some of the top floor rooms are up about 5 flights of stairs with no lifts so you will be lugging your bags up and down, and you'll be out of puff.
My room was well appointed and sufficiently spacious and the shower was extremely good. The location is outstanding, and it is good to have private parking in the middle of York.
The room was warm and comfortable, cosy bedding, great shower, gel, shampoo, etc supplied. Tea and coffee, plenty supplied. Location could not have been better for our weekend celebration, but we would definitely use the hotel again as it has good parking and is within walking distance of all the major attractions in the centre of York. Breakfast was lovely. This time I was still full from a huge late dinner. Next time I will sample the larger one which looked delicious. The staff were helpful and friendly and we were able to come and go with other members of our party quite freely. A very enjoyable experience all round
I didn't actually ask, but if I had stayed another night I would have asked for another towel.....
