Great location but had a couple of drawbacks
Pros:

Great location from which to explore York on foot.
Really friendly owners and staff of this family run hotel. Parking available at a reasonable rate for central York.
We had a nice room on the second floor, large bed, powerful rainfall walk in shower. Lovely, character full building, liked the large sash windows.

Cons:

Be aware that there are no lifts and lots of stairs, so if you struggle with stairs you may find it difficult and want to consider other options.
Breakfast was a great selection of cereals, fruit, yogurt along with hot options. Unfortunately for us the full English did not reach expectations. The sausages were thin and not good quality, the bacon was tough and dried out, the beans, the beans came as 'cheesy beans'?, I would recommend asking for standard beans. The mushrooms were very small and severely overcooked. The poached eggs were very good and the black pudding was nice, but you only get a small thin slice. Tea and coffee were both very good along with various fruit juices.

Pros:

The location brilliant. 10 minute walk to everything.
Nice friendly staff.
Nice and clean.
Comfortable.
Everything we needed was there

Cons:

Bed was squeeky.
Could have been free parking rather than 18 pounds for the night.
Added parking on booking but was full when we arrived. But squeezed in behind another car there.
Not moaning just saying. 😊

Slightly over priced when you add on breakfast and parking
Pros:

Location staff

Cons:

Parking was hard to find and a small car park, I also did not like that although we stayed in one room we were charged 19 pounds each to park 2 cars. Breakfast was a long wait and was cold.
