Adequate room with all the basics. Comfortable bedding, toiletries, and good lighting. The AC was insufficient for the extraordinary cold last weekend, but under normal circumstances, it is probably enough. WiFi is reliable and front desk provides assistance though limited English support.
I stayed for one night and I change 4 different times because every room Smells like ash trash, it’s amazing how from the elevator and entire aisle stinks. In 4 different levels.
If you see allergic don’t come to this place it’s awful
My three nieces, my brother and I stayed in three rooms for five nights here.
This is a no frill hotel. Rooms are small but relatively clean. Attached bathrooms are small and just adequate.
The good point about this hotel is its location. Times Square, Huaihai shopping street is just around the corner. Underground rapid transit station is two blocks away. Even Nanjing pesdetrian mall is within walking distance. We walked there a few times, and on the average, it's about 15-20 minutes, depending on the crowds around us.
It is about 15 minutes walk to XinTianDi, the chic district of Shanghai, where you can get very nice Shanghai food in posh restaurants at relatively cheap prices ( convert to US dollars).
Counter staff are just average. Don't expect extra miles. We booked two taxi through the doorman for going to the airport on the nigh of our departure, but the next day, none of the taxi were there, and we had to hail them at roadside.
The check in took forever as the lady couldn't decide whether my name was in the computer or not. Keep in mind we booked this place nearly a week ago.
Just got into "non-smoking room" and it stinks of smoke. Had to open windows to get the smell out and even then that didn't help... This is quite horrible. Management couldn't help it either. All rooms the same.
Hotel is in a very good location, Dashijie metro station is just 5min walk.
People's Square easily reachable 5-10min walk.
No english spoken by staff, check-in/out operations sometimes not easy, expecially because of that crazy mechanism of the deposit that needs to be paid and will be refund.
Breakfast was not included in my room, you get it with 28RMB, but it's a pure chinese breakfast. Nearby many places where you can have continental breakfast.
No frills at all in the room: simple and somehow clean.
Standard rooms are on the street side, and it's sometimes noisy.
Budget accomodation in convenient location.
To keep it short, this hotel is a very good value for the money, metro station is very close-by, shopping malls are well within walking distance as well. Only hiccup for me is that I do not speak mandarin very much and I needed my significant other to translate or speak for me to the hotel staff. I do not think any of them know much English. But from my experience in China, if you do not speak mandarin or go with someone who does, you are not going to have a superb time as most do not speak English.
Overall the hotel room we got was fairly spacious considering the price and location. Would book again if I was going to Shanghai again, although I might consider other hotels as well.
Prior to coming to the hotel, we wanted to find out how to get there. The hotel is a little difficult to find in Google Maps (there are 2 but the other one is incorrect). The easiest way to get to the hotel from Pudong is via the metro or maglev-metro (if it's still open when you arrive). The nearest metro station is Dashijie (line 8). You have to exit near Family Mart, turn left toward McDonald's and then go up the escalator. Outside, walk to the left then at the first intersection turn right. You should reach another intersection (cross that), the Inn would be the 3rd building on the left (in front of hair salon). We arrived late thus metro was closed so we decided to get a shuttle at the airport. The price we got for 4 people was 550, which seemed fair but then when we got to the hotel the driver pulled out a card saying we had to pay a 15% service charge! Don't be duped by the same scam. Maybe easier to take a taxi.
We had a Mandarin speaking friend so check in was easier, but we tried to transact in English first to no avail. They have these cue cards on the reception which have basic questions you can probably use if you have no one in your party who can speak Mandarin. Hotel is secure, you can only access the floor where your room is on the elevator. Rooms are quite basic but is clean. There is free wifi but be prepared to use Yahoo or any other search engine instead of Google. Google sometimes works but more often than not it doesn't. There's free bottled water, tea, shampoo/soap combo, toothbrush kit and hair dryer. Very basic but worth it if you don't plan on staying in your room all day. They allowed us to check out at 1pm so they are flexible.
Location is very central. The Dashijie station is a 5 min walk. From there Nanjing road, Yuyuan and other sites are just 1 or 2 stations away. I suggest you download Explore Shanghai app, was very useful for getting around.
There's a bunch of food stalls on Yunnan if you're adventurous and also Lawson, Family Mart, Tesco Express (convenience stores) that's open 24 hours. Starbucks is 2 min away, Mc Donald's on the Dashijie station. We also found out that there's a bunch of people selling street food late at night near the Dashijie station.
Near the hotel, you can walk towards Huaihai for the more upscale malls with City Super, Lane Crawford, Sephora. There is also a digital plaza in Huaihai. You can also take the metro towards South huangpi then walk along Huaihai all the way back to the hotel.
Overall, aside from language issues (which to be fair you will encounter EVERYWHERE in Shanghai), this is a great hotel for budget travelers.
No English
We booked this hotel in advance but the hotel cancelled our reservation because we came in late due to traffic. And so we ended up paying the published rate.
Rooms are very basic, no luxury at all. Bathroom is small. You get what you pay for. Location is nice. 10 minutes walk to the metro station. 3 minutes to Huaihai Road where you can find shopping malls. Yuyuan Garden is also nearby. I hate the wifi.
The Junking Inn is a decent hotel for the price. The rooms are cleaned daily, bottled water left, tea and a teapot as well. The breakfast is halfway decent, just no variety and the coffee is machine-made. The staff is ok, well try to speak English, WiFi in the rooms, and near a great noodle place.
A neat little safe and comfortable hotel for budget travelers. Rooms are clean with attached wash room which are serviced daily. Laundry service is over night and a bit costly. Amenities are rather of minimum standard. Family mart and ATM are located nearby and at a walking distance. A higher floor is recommended. Metro line is within a couple of minutes walk. Public transport is easily available.
Service:
The staff are fairly by-the-book, typical of larger hotel chains. Most are friendly and helpful, despite my broken mandarin. There was some confusion with the deposit and the elevator keys when one of the seemingly more senior staff was not as pleasant.
Room:
The room is spacious for the price, clean and comfortable. It is fairly well stocked with slippers, toothbrushes, combs, etc. The decor is pleasant but basic. It's on-par with most well-known business hotel chains for a lot less.
Location:
The hotel is only a few minutes walk to the closest subway station. It is fairly walking distance (approx. 15-20 min) to many sightseeing attractions.
Stayed 1 night in this hotel but wished I could have stayed longer! Checked in past midnight but there were staff on one who processed my check-in very promptly.
The room was very spacious and clean. The room had facilities like a water boiler and hairdryer too! Was expecting the bare minimum for the price I paid for the room.
Location was good, with food hawkers along the street easily accessible to grab food for breakfast. A supermarket was nearby and the nearest train station was 2 junctions(5-10 mins) away.
Definitely will come back if I do return tp Shanghai.
My sister and I stayed here in June 2012 and were pleasantly surprised at how nice the interior was and how clean and spacious the room was. They provided a kettle, toothbrushes, toothpaste, comb and slippersand a soap dispenser in the ample sized shower. Quiet. We had to give them 200yuan, from which they deducted 25 yuan (less than $4) each for breakfast and then gave us back the change when we were leaving. The staff speak little English, but we managed to find our way around by pointing to maps . The metro is clean, fast and efficient and the nearest one to the hotel is called Dashijie. When you go out of the hotel turn right then left at the second street on the left; cross over the road and the station is up a little way under the McDonald's sign. Must see in Shanghai is the Yuyuan Gardens, which is fabulous, the Bund, but go at night time and if you get off the metro at the Science and
Technology Station there is a huge market right there. Someone took us exactly where we wanted to go to buy various things. Loved Shanghai! People speak very little English so have some translations with you and a decent map! Enjoy!
Stay at Jinjiang Inn was fab....very convenient location just at the start of Huaihai Road and also in the middle of Yunnan Lu Food street. tried many good local food around the hotel.....
U have famous Jianbao, cold dish chicken, hotpot places all around. also a lamb kebab stall where everyone is queuing. for breakfast, the cafe next door is not bad.
The hotel is also a short walk to the old town where u can explore the morning markets where you see local culture and life. very interesting! U can say this location is near both the new and old shanghai.
Its in the heart of town and all the places of interests are easily accessible by taxi here. dun bother to take the subway nearby, because everything is really quite near by cab:)
rooms - spacious, clean, modern.....the value at 300rmb/night is unbeatable. front desk service is also fine. free internet access in the lobby :)
Hotel pulitissimo, silenzioso, vicino alla fermata della metropolitana. Nei dintorni si trovano ristornatini, negozi, alimentari e shopping malls.
Anche il rapporto qualita` prezzo e` davvero soddisfacente.
Budget hotel with good location. About 15 mins taxi ride to XinTianDi if you are a party goer, this hotel would be ideal for you. There is no wifi inside the room except at the common area downstairs. You would need a laptop to surf internet inside the room. The Inn only provide disposable paper cups. Have suggested to the Inn if they can consider to include the bed blankets, spoons and cups (not the disposable type) which travellers can wash the cups after using. Easy access to a few places of interest which I did not have much time to explore as it's just a 2 days' stay at the Inn.
Softest bed in China (beds are usually VERY hard, theirs moderately soft). Chinese friend said JinJiang is clean throughout China. She was right, it was clean, laminated floor helped. Non smoking floors. Location was great. HuaiHai East Rd and others bus stops very close. #8 metro two blocks away. Lots of local food near by. Very helpful staff, but not sure if they speak English. Wi-fi in lobby, unless you ask for a plug-in for room. No frig. Overall nice, cheap, clean budget hotel.
i enjoyed my stay here, location, cleanliness good. Simple, not much bells and whistles, no internet in the room unless you have rj45 cable. BEST VALUE for location.
The breakfast buffet is also goood value. Good variety and very clean. The only area for improvement will be more English TV. There is only 1 English out of 40 Chinese TV channels. The room exceeded my expectation. It's clean, safe and quiet air conditioner.
Recently stayed here for 2 nights...staff is not particularly friendly, but they were efficient. Rooms were fairly large for an inexpensive Shanghai hotel. Rooms were clean and spartan. Walking distance to the "Bund". I would stay here again.
