Pros:

A beautiful hotel with great ambience. The architectural overtones exist throughout the property -which extend to the guest rooms. The Alma Restaurant was outstanding for both breakfast and dinner, while the spa and gym were equally appealing. Great location.

Pros:

Modern and sleekly designed hotel in the Eixample area of Barcelona with dramatically dark lighting,full amenities and spa and uniquely private wooded courtyard. Large, quiet rooms with high ceilings with windows that open.
Highly priced breakfast and laundry commensurate with convenience. Spa includes pool, sauna, steam,workout room, massages and private Pilates classes on the roof.
Service consistently friendly and helpful.

Wonderful Experience as a Return Guest
Pros:

We had such a wonderful experience 6 years ago at the Alma Barcelona and decided to return again for our 2nd visit to Barcelona. The hotel is immaculate and chic, and in the perfect location for restaurants, shopping and site seeing. The Concierge staff is exactly how I remembered them to be - helpful, friendly and super attentive, and the spa staff is wonderful as well.

I did notice a few details during this stay that surprised me, and hope that my observations come through as constructive versus critical. First of all, we did not have turndown service once during our 4-night stay; for a 5-star hotel, I would think that to be a basic service. Secondly, housekeeping service seemed a bit lackadaisical. Little touches prevalent in other luxury properties were totally missing. For example, after a full day out each day, we returned to a room that was dark, hot and muggy. Presentation of items on our bathroom counter and nightstand lacked organization and attention. While the staff was truly great, we were asked several times (sometimes by the same staff member) what our room number was over and over again. Of course, these examples did not make our stay bad by any means, but for a luxury hotel with a 5-star rating, and in comparison to the other hotels we stayed at in other cities, the details and special touches that were lacking or nonexistent seemed much more noticeable.

Wonderful Hotel
Pros:

The Alma is a wonderful establishment. The front desk staff is polite, friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. The breakfast is served in their nicely appointed dining room. The back patio is a quiet refuge. The rooms nicely designed, and very well kept. I come to Barcelona on business twice a year. It is my hotel of choice.

En revanche, le petit-déjeuner était quelconque et le spa très limité.

Lors du check-in, sur quatre cartes d’accès, une seule fonctionnait et aucune proposition de scan digital n’a été faite.
Au petit-déjeuner, une personne en salle n’a pas été très agréable, ce qui a donné une impression de manque d’attention au bien-être des clients.

C’est regrettable, avec un peu plus de savoir-être et de souci du détail, il pourrait vraiment atteindre l’excellence.
