Pros:

The hotel is a good place to stay as its near the strip and close to all amenities and the beach. However, the cleaners need to be retrained to clean properly. The sink was dirty, and needed a good scrub and not just a wipe down. We had to ask for soap when it was clear to see it needed replacing. Alot of people complained about the cleanliness of the place. The stairs handle should be wiped down as it was full of dust and spoilt the place. There are too many old men with young girls and underage girls there and the hotel just allows it. The resturant manager is very accomadaing and looked after us well, he is one of the good staff they have. The bar staff are lazy and rude. It would be good if the outside of the hotel was cleaned early in the morning before breakfast and not while having breakfast.

Great Location - Budget Accommodation
Pros:

The Seaview Hotel is in a great location as it is a 5 min walk to a number of amazing food places including the Tropix Mall and 10 min walk to the Senegambia Strip. Location is all that it has in its favour. The Seaview is located next to a music venue, so you may be kept awake until 4am by all night music functions on weekends. The rooms are a decent size, but both external and internal doors require repairing and a refurb. Aircon and internet working perfectly. TV’s in rooms could be bigger as 17 inch isn’t suitable for size of room. Breakfast is basic, so don’t expect much variation from eggs, boiled baked beans and pancakes.

Dump
Pros:

This place is a dump. If you have standards, please don't bother wasting your time with the positives.. only positive is that it is in a good location. Find somewhere else close by.. I think this place needs a full refurbishment..

Not the best hotel but pleasant.
Pros:

Seaview gardens hotel

Stayed at this hotel with my fiancé and like most of the reviews there are positives and negatives and I concur with a lot that has already been said. This hotel is in a great location a short walk to the beach short walk to Senegambia the strip where everything happens, lots of local restaurants in the vicinity, nice and affordable the bank is just around the corner and there are lots of travel options as there are available taxes on offer all day. The hotel is very pretty garden wise, the grounds are nice with beautiful trees, plants and bushes. There is small pool at the back however can be unappealing before the pool boy comes to clean it. The pool furniture is minging.

The staff are very friendly and welcoming apart from the reception staff who don’t seem to be that bothered if you have an issue with something. The room was spacious and we were impressed with the big four-poster bed with the mosquito net covering it we are very grateful to see that as we were worried about getting bitten. The sofa in the living room was filthy and in need of a scrub and there was a TV on the wall that didn’t work my fiancé reported it three times and three times reception said they were sending somebody up to fix it but they never did which makes me think they know that it doesn’t work and it will never work.

The AC worked I was so glad about that but we could not put on the bedroom fan because it was clattering. The bathroom was very basic the shower did work and we did get hot water but not powerful. The Plumbing in the bathroom needs sorting out as the sink was blocked one time I don’t know what was going on but someone’s lighter came up through the sinkhole. Someone came to unblock the drain but just fixed it so the water leaked onto the floor instead. (nice trick).
Breakfast is very limited and the same thing everyday. No herbal teas no alternative options for people with intolerances such as gluten-free bread the breakfast consisted of porridge, tiny pancakes, melon everyday, beans everyday and chopped salad everyday and noodles. However there is a very nice Lady that will do you an egg or omelette on the grill which was tasty and so I had that everyday for two weeks because there was nothing else I can eat. The juice is flavoured water with loads of sugar (avoid).

In terms of the noise people speak about yes there is a location nearby where the music will be pumping loud deep into the morning and I mean loud. And there is a lot of noise from the generators. The Wi-Fi keeps cutting out and also the electricity kept cutting out so if you rely on the Internet for your business then you will not be happy. There are a fair few older men with local women and visa versa staying at the hotel but that is not my business.

However, I enjoyed my stay there because of the friendly atmosphere and the relaxed atmosphere. I did see a big rat hanging around which put me off as I can’t stand them and it’s hard to enjoy your food outside when you have two cats at your feet staring at you waiting to be fed that can be annoying.

Brilliant hardworking staff make the hotel likeable - Fatu, Alex, Jenny, Lamin, and athe egg lady.

Plenty of better places to stay
Pros:

Not a bad location and some rooms are OK... My daughter and niece stayed there for the last 2 weeks and had a terrible time.
To start with they were put in a temporary room that stunk of damp then after complaining they were given another room. It was supposed to be a triple room (I was supposed to stay too) but the room only had a double bed after complaining again they were given a filthy and broken single bed. They refused to stay and joined me somewhere else for the night. The following day the manager was very reasonable and sorted the room situation. The new rooms were nice and clean.

The pool was dirty despite being cleared each day, the toilets at the pool were filthy and the beds and tables and chairs are very dusty (some attributed to the roadworks in the area)

One of the cleaners touched my daughter inappropriately outside her room. She went in her room and locked it after telling him off but he continued knocking her door.
This matter was sorted by the manager only after threats to call the police. She was very angry and said she would not tolerate that behaviour and he was sacked. Other staff were very sympathetic toward her after and agreed customers should not have to tolerate this

Later the lock came out with her key as she went to her room. She spent the night with chairs against the door and the door was fixed the morning after.there will need to be big changes before I would recommend this place.

Pros:

Affordable, nice pool, poor breakfast. Room not secure. No toilet paper, poor lighting, bathroom and towels dingy, closet broken and there is absolutely no sea view. A big ugly wall blocks the view. Not as beautiful as advertised. Nice that it’s used by mostly locals. Lots of places nearby to go to eat and drink. No bottle water given.

Not the best!
Pros:

We stayed here in March/April 2023. We usually visit The Gambia twice a year and have stayed in several different hotels or apartments but I am sorry to say the Seaview is one I wouldn’t recommend!
We had a two bedroomed villa, which we found to be adequate for our needs. The room was serviced daily, with linen changed twice a week and clean towels everyday.
We were on a B&B basis. Breakfast was very basic consisting of eggs, stale cereal, salad and bread.
If you wanted your egg cooking you had to find a member of staff as they were more interested in looking at their phones than serving their guests. A full English breakfast was available after 10am but you had to pay for it.
The dining room chair frames were thick with dust and remained so all the time we were there. We alerted staff to a cockroach running about in the bread tray, she rolled her eyes and flicked at the bug with a tea towel! Needless to say that was the last breakfast we had there.
Pool towels were provided but most days they hadn’t been collected from the laundry. Luckily we had brought our own.
All in all, we had a lovely holiday but we won’t be staying at this hotel again.

The management seemed disinterested in their guests and made no effort to address and concerns we had. There was a party of very noisy guests who played very loud reggae music during the day and several times late at night also, resulting in a lady asking them to turn it off so she could sleep…it was 2am! Management refused to talk to these guests and ask them to have consideration for others. This resulted in the lady and her friend moving out to stay elsewhere.

DO NOT GO THIS HOTEL NEEDS TO BE CLOSED DOWN
Pros:

DO NOT go to this hotel it needs a complete refurbishment as I stayed for 1 night only. The room was a disgrace it was damp and smelted of mildrew. No glass on the bathroom window, no shower curtains everyone could see right in the shower room when showering. No bath mat, no soap. The air conditioning unit didn't work. The TV didn't work amd no controls. The sockets in the bedroom didn't work The door handle is filled up blu tac as they filled a hole. This room should NOT be rented out to guests. The stairways and railings needs a good clean filled with dust the hotel needs to be closed down. When complained to the Manager I was told that they have the money now so there is nothing they can do as they do not have any other rooms and can't refund the money back. This should NOT be allowed.

Rat?
Pros:

UGH!!! if i had not paid would have left within an hour! place has gone to the dogs........stayed here many years ago and it was fine. Guess Covid and everything have now put this right down. at least they have painted the outside!
Ok you pay for safety deposit box you pay for fridge. Room dated but by Gambian rooms ok. Shower awful drip drip no hot water all the time i was there. no slip/towel mat for floor.
BUT the worst was a massive hole at the outside of the bath!! yikes i was worried about vermin coming thro....more about that later! drain hole in the floor was always overflowing.
bed hard as nails pillows same. A/C very loud rattled like mad but you need it on.
the fan in the sitting area worked but then with a huge bang exploded in a cloud of smoke. they did come in and fit a towel rail! and replace a settee with 2 seats....no idea why.
Outside no brollys for sunbeds and its very very hot. Sunbeds are filthy they hose them whenever but they are encased in dirt. pool cleaned each morning but you have to ask repeatedly for a towel. loads of cats & kittens you get no peace if you are eating. And a couple of rats sneaking around........i hate rats! management were warned to deal with this or the place would be closed down, dont know if they did?
in one shaded area the place was not cleaned plenty of cig butts and litter oh and no ashtrays around doesnt help. The toilet at the pool is disgusting I used the room instead. bar charges double the price for a beer compared to the strip why ive no idea, and the TV displays only half a screen.
plenty of Gambians including staff stay here so appear the majority at times. some English & Dutch.
Older men with young Gambians stay too. But what disgusted me was staff being paid to sleep with visitors ill not go into details but management knew all about this despite such activity being illegal in Gambia.
Ive been to Gambia for many many years id advise avoiding this place.

A very negative experience...
Pros:

Restaurant... no food on that date... the manager reproaches me for having reported it to the reception
Room: TV out of order, no soap in the shower, no mirror in the bathroom. Hotel under renovation: no use trying to rest during daytime...

Not the best hotel I've stayed in
Pros:

Not a great hotel. We were a large group and lots of rooms had issues. From showers being cold or not working, noisy or broken AC, some rooms didn't have enough beds for the amount of people sharing and barely any single beds so had to share double beds. The bar was not always stocked so it was pointless looking at the cocktail menu.

Having said all that, the Staff were polite, especially Alio, the Restaurant Manager.

The hotel needs a full refurbishment and there is evidence this has started.

Not family friendly
Pros:

Having originally booked this hotel for 12 days, I immediately looked to move me, my friend and her 4 year old daughter to an alternative hotel after the first night. After arriving just after 9pm and settling into our family suite it was clear the rooms were in need of a major refurbishment. We also had an unexpected rodent guest in the room and had to get reception to sort before we could sleep. In the morning it was apparent there were no other females or families at the hotel, only single older men. The pool was grimey, oh and some locals came into the resort and were smoking marijuana around the pool. Suffice to say we did not feel comfortable especially with a 4 year old in tow! A local tour company - Black and White safari helped us to relocate (would definitely recommend black and white 100%) to a more family friendly, comfortable and secure location. If you’re an older single guy looking for that kind of thing in The Gambia, this is the place for you…..families avoid!

There’s way better hotels in this country than here.
Pros:

Stayed here for 2 weeks, first 3 days my door was broken, so slept with a chair pressed up against the door for 3 days, asked to be moved rooms they refused. Locksmith came out 3 times to fix door, the first time they sent a child, no older than 14. Door appeared to be fixed then broke after 30 mins. A different locksmith came, and just completely broke the door. And finally the last locksmith came and replaced the entire lock, which ended up keeping me locked inside my room for an hour. For the first week I had to physically fight with the door for it to open, this becomes tiring and irritating, so had to end up damaging the door in a way that allowed me to lock and unlock my door with ease.

During the first week my ac was working fine. All of a sudden in my final week the ac started leaking droplets of water constantly, the point where the floor is completely flooded.

Taps & showers are okay, however there was times where there’d be no water coming out of either, so if you midway through showering this can cause problems.

All in all, this was a complete waste of money. I’d advise you to look elsewhere for accommodation.

The only reason I gave 2 instead of 1 star is because the bar staff and the restaurant staff were very friendly.

Good if you stay for 1 or max 2 nights.
Pros:

The room was clean and breakfast was acceptable. WIFI was available only in pool area but was slow. Hotel is 10 minutes walk to Senegambia street where you can find some nice restaurants. To the beach you need to walk 15 minutes. Close there is the supermarket where you can buy water or food. Beer in the bar costs 100 dalasi. In restaurants on Senegambia street 50 to 60. For coffee in the bar I paid 100 dalasi. The hotel is good if you stay there for night before trips to the Gambia and before leaving. In rooms with the window on the highway could be loud.
