Everything excellent. Staff superb.
Great traditional hotel
Breakfast, ambience, staff, location
Pillows - both clean but flat.
Toiletries in bathroom (shampoo & shower gel)were tiny, not enough for 2 for a one night stay if you’d forgotten to bring your own.
A charming traditional hotel with comfortable rooms, hard working staff and decent food menu.
It’s an Aberdeen institution so can get very busy with outside parties.
Character and charm
Some dated features
The breakfast was excellent. Every member of staff was cheerful and very helpful. The room was very comfortable with plenty of tea, coffee, biscuits etc. I cannot fault it.
Everything was excellent
The location was near the hospital as my wife was in for a procedure. The breakfast and evening meal were superb. The staff are exceptionally friendly and very helpful. Although the interior is getting a little bit tired it was spotlessly clean. I would definitely use it again

Excellent location-well looked after
The property was spotless. The staff were helpful and kind. The amazing breakfast.
We both chose the salad for dinner it came with chicken, cold roast beef and ham. It was excellent quality and plentiful. The drinks were priced reasonably.
Our room was well equipped but would have preferred a king sized bed. However that was my fault as I had asked for an easy access room.
We had a lovely stay and hopefully can visit again soon.
The duvet was too heavy for me as I have arthritis which meant that I didn’t sleep too well. If and when we visit again I will ask for a lighter duvet or blanket.
A nice lounge to relax in after dinner would be lovely but it’s a beautiful old granite building and that wouldn’t be easy to do.
Friendly & helpful staff, clean & comfortable room & very enjoyable food

The reception, serving and cleaning staff were all excellent. Thanks to Isobel for her smiling assistance, and an especial thank you to Julie for gently insisting I eat when I was too worried to want to do so, and recommending I have the soup. The parking arrangements with a one-way in and out system were excellent for picking up my daily taxi ride. Generally the rooms were quiet and comfortable. The water was hot in the bathrooms and towels and bathroom supplies excellent, as were the warm towelling dressing gowns. Bottled water supplied was an excellent provision. The move to the Accessible room and my other room changes were all done just by leaving my case packed, and room 18 was provided just by my phone call from the hospital on Tuesday when Mark's date for leaving the hospital suddenly changed from ' probably before the end of the month' to 'today' (17th March). I am sure that the two days in the hotel together after his discharge, made our journey back to Orkney far easier for Mark. As we did not have a honeymoon almost 51 years ago when we married, we regarded this stay as our honeymoon before our anniversary on April 1st! Thank you so much.
Room 20 was comfortable and easy to use,. Since I could not say how long I would be there I expected to move rooms. Unfortunately Room 33 had a couple of disadvantages: the bath was higher so more difficult to get into either to bath or shower, with a handle on the wall side that did not have adequate space for my normal-sized hand due to the tiling. Also it made some strange rumbling sounds during the night, experienced also on the floor below by my brother-in-law. In the Accessible room, room 18, the shower leaked all over the bathroom floor leaving it soaking.
I would have appreciated more availability for special diets, there were a few choices for gluten free, but nothing for my other food intolerances: cow's milk and tea and coffee. I carry red bush tea, but the flask of goat milk I took with me was emptied at the airport in Orkney.
