Everything, my wife and I have stayed at the Bay Tree several times and it never fails to be exceptional. The staff are always friendly, polite, helpful, courteous and professional.
The building is very quirky and interesting, it is extremely old which adds to its charm.
The service is never less than perfect and the food is delicious.
On this particular occasion Amy, in reception, and Max, in the restaurant, were particularly good and made our stay very special. Thank you.

Location
Loved the property
Hotel is beautiful it’s set in a lovely location in a nice street. It has plenty of parking at the rear of the hotel.
There is nothing we didn’t like it was a perfect stay.
Very good location to explore Cotswolds, easy to get to/ from many of the typical villages and areas; reasonable local dinner options; room size was good.
No air conditioning, and placed in what was close to, if not the, highest (and hottest) rooms in the structure with only one fan and an open window to try to cool off enough to sleep. Room stayed above 30C until after 9pm. granting the simplistic idea of about not being able to control the weather (got it) -- expect hotel staff to know their property and guide guests accordingly e.g. a lower floor, or whatever. Oh, we did get an email about hotel being hot, and being allotted one fan (extremely clear on "only one!")... AFTER our "free cancellation" period had lapsed -- ok, they keep the $$ regardless, useful note? for whom?. Many of the front line staff on site were very friendly, very courteous, and very helpful.
The property was lovely, the rooms were good and the location excellent
The waiters weren’t the best, dropped something from a sharing board and didn’t replace it. Also quality of food wasn’t great
Echt authentiek Cotswolds , mooi kader
Geen zwembad of iets in die aard
Location
Steep stairs
Stuff so friendly
Little issues like breakfast arriving without milk and salt/pepper; inability/unwillingness to fillet a fish that was served on the bone.
I found the music in the bar and restaurant areas quite loud and intrusive for a quiet, good quality hotel, and music from the bar, which was empty, disturbed us in our bedroom until quite late
We enter here for my partner's birthday. Surroundings very nice apart from a 3 inch diameter big black spider on the wall.
Skipped starters and had fish and chips and a fish pie.
Asked for vinegar twice which eventually came when there was only 1,/8 of the neal left very poor service dessert nothing like expected so won't be wasting b time and money going again
A hotel seeped in history, but all amenities are 2026. Excellent location, delightful gardens, food exceptional. Good, free parking.
We stayed in the ‘Oak room’ – bedroom plus separate lounge room. Really perfect - & bathroom equally good.
BUT, sadly our stay was let down by ‘housekeeping issues’ given the price point:
- On arrival, both a dead bee/insect & tortilla crisp on carpet by curtain in lounge room. I removed the crisp, but the bee/insect remained there for our 4 nights stay.
- Only 5 hangers in wardrobe (hooks there, but no hangers)
- No hairdryer & had to ask for one twice before we got one
- Room not serviced/ cleaned on Day 2. When we returned from our day out, housekeeping had finished for the day. (Receptionist did her best to remedy, but …)
Wish I could give 5 stars, as the Reception staff in particular were really hard working & we had a lovely stay. Just housekeeping needs addressing.
Beautiful setting, we spent our wedding night in bridal suite. Wish we had more time to enjoy it!
Oak room is excellent
