Lovely housekeeping, but extremely disappointing customer service and undisclosed theatre performance
Pros:

The housekeeping was excellent. Despite the age of the building, everything was clean. The housekeeping team clearly take pride in their work.

Cons:

We were not informed before booking, before arrival or at check-in that an immersive theatre performance would be taking place throughout the hotel on Friday evening.

Performers and audience members were directly outside our bedroom door, including shouting and screaming, while we were trying to settle our two-year-old daughter. We only discovered what was happening when I called to complain. No meaningful solution was offered.

Had we known, we would not have booked that night.

What made the experience particularly disappointing was how management handled our complaint.

Before arrival, we had specifically disclosed that we were travelling with our two-year-old and requested a cot, which the hotel accepted and charged an additional $30 for.

Yet when we complained about the theatre performance, staff told us that legally three people shouldn’t have been in the room and that they’d effectively “done us a favour” by allowing it.

This was repeated when I raised the issue myself. The hotel then contradicted this in writing, stating that an infant was acceptable in that room type.

We requested a partial monetary refund for Friday night only, rather than our entire stay. Instead, the hotel offered a credit towards a future stay. We explained that we had no intention of returning because of the customer service, but they refused a monetary refund and subsequently declared the matter closed.

The hotel eventually acknowledged in writing that it had failed to tell us about the performance at check-in, but the complaint was never satisfactorily resolved.

Extremely disappointing, particularly because the situation could have been avoided with basic communication and handled so much better afterwards.

Stunning views make the stay feel like an absolute spoil !
Pros:

We stayed in the turret suite - the view was amazing!! I didnt have to leave the hotel it was almost enough to look out over the marina to the left, the bay in front of you and the heads to the right. Every comfort was there from the twin shower the spa bath and access to the roof top terrace just across the hall. Full block out blinds to ensure privacy and fridge and glasses ready for some local wine to make sure you dont have to go far, that being said theres lots of places to relax around the hotel and the hotel itself is well positioned close to restaurants, cafes and shops.

Cons:

The only dissappointment was the fishermen all heading to the marina before dawn with their boats and trailers and having to slow down outside the hotel. I am a light sleeper and couldnt get back to sleep.

Had a great stay & would always come back
Pros:

The balcony overlooking the street towards the bay was great. It was a rainy weekend and we enjoyed the outdoors on the big covered balcony reading our books & treating ourselves with local produce & wine. I would recommend booking the balcony room. Staff were very friendly.

Loved the show of Mr Naismith as it was the perfect venue. Would tell friends to stay at the Vue Hotel.
Pros:

Bed was comfortable, staff were pleasant and helpful, the food was delicious and location was great.

Cons:

There wasn’t much to dislike.

The Grand Vue, a great place to stay
Pros:

Loved the location. The decor added to the overall ambience of the venue. It really is a lovely building. The bed was so comfortable, had a great night's sleep. The staff were lovely, bright, cheerful and helpful.

Cons:

The stairs were a bit difficult, but the lovely young lady on reception offered to help without being asked. So helpful. I copied with the stairs but they weren't my favourite..

High ceilings made it hard to warm the room. Lighting in bathroom 07 very poor if you needed to see in the mirror to put eye drops in!
